Refurbished Saitek X36 combo's are $50... with about 10 more buttons I might add.

Buy it and have 4 keg parties with the savings. Your friends will love you, so will your squad mates when you program the Saitek all up to view and trim properly.

Creamo,
Sorry, but you're smoking crack if you think the X-36 has more buttons/knobs/hats/widgets.  I've used both the Saitek X-36 and the Cougar's predecessor, the F-22 Pro and TQS, and the X-36 has about 20-30 less basic inputs, let alone the vast programmability differences.

What's the difference, it's all personal preference anyway.  Creamo can keep that turd X36 stuff, and I'll keep using my F22 & TQS...and buy the HOTAS Couger when it comes out.

Functionally tho', I've heard the Saitek stuff has come leaps and bounds from where it was, and although I doubt it's surpassed Thrusty's programmability, I've heard it's right up there.  Never used it myself tho'.

In the end, that X36 throttle is still a cheap knockoff of the TQS as it was to begin with, and the stick...ewww

Creamo,
I don't have access to an X-36 anymore, but the F-22 Pro/TQS combo has 33 inputs + 2 1 axis wheels + a mouse.  That is assuming I don't do any mode switches.  Using the most basic mode switch, I can remove the three inputed from the dogfight switch and multiply the remainder by 3.  That would be 90 inputs.

It can get much more complicated that that.

Look at the stick.

Then look at this:

CH, as usual, got it right long before TM did   .

FWIW; I never was fond of rolling things on throttles - they serve little purpose for me, and they take away the space for another 4 way button.

Still, I am probably gonna check this thing out. provided there's a way to remove that silly rubber thingy at the bottom of the stick and still have warranty.

If there ain't, well, CH USB will be out later this year.

In my flight-sim playing life 've used TM's FCS, WCS II, F16 FLCS, TQS, Elite Pedals as well as CH's Force FX and Pro Throttle Combo and now using Saitek's X36 USB HOTAS. The X36 is easily equal to TM's F16/TQS setup funcionality wise and the software takes programamble sticks to a new level of ease and integration into the OS and games I use, that being said the new Cougar setup looks like it will set the standard others may find difficult to follow and I know I'll be queing up to buy one

hmmm...I seem to remember ThrustMaster coming out with a little stick that looks something like this...

And it seems to me that it came out well before the CH stick did, but they were beaten to it by a long shot by the US government

SOB.. quit talking like you know anything about Thrustmaster.  You'd think you used to work there judging by your posts.

Now go sit in the corner and read what those who really know what's going on have to say.

Go on... sit.
-------

On a serious note... the metal construction of the stick has me kinda worried.  Most power tools moved away from metal because the coolness caused chronic hand problems (moreso with pneumatic tools.. but to some effect with all).

I mean.. its not like it will be something that is used for a few hours a day

USB combined with an undying loyalty to Thrustmaster means I will be getting this stick.  Hell... I think I payed half of Matt's salary via my purchases in the last 10 years.
