GF4 mx 440 64mb  vc are 45.00 at most pc stores at the moment .
128mb vc's are around 80-135.00 us ... 350.00 for the 9800pro

I dont think a Gf2  64mb card is gonna be enough .... mine are working but the frames rates are low ..  but so are most everyone else's too ... once I see buff formations i think my cards will be done .

(think I'll go try to find an ati 9500pro card )

if you do get a gf2 or gf4  try to get the ddr one . they run faster
they word them funny sometimes    ("with 64mb of ddr sdram ")
as example.

Arg.  No Win98?  This is gonna suck when it comes time for some upgrades as I need Win98 for my old CH gear. Hell, I just LIKE Win98SE.   :(

Avoid any Geforce MX products.   They're just neutered, and you'd get 10 times the value with a full Geforce card.

I currently have a p4 1.7  712 pc 133 (:rofl )  gfti4200.

I am building a new system but, as I loggged on to AH2 and noticed the cursor stuttering across the screen, I figgered I better hurry up w my new sht.

 Hiya Westy...

I'm not real pleased that I'm going to have to replace my
2+yr old ATI AIW Pro 128 AGP in order to play AH II
but I'll be DAMNED if I'll upgrade my OS. Freaking Win98SE
was a PITA  enough to last me forever and now that I'm
retired I'm not going to needlessly feed Mikeysofts coffers!

I like having a TV tuner onboard and use it constantly
except when I'm "flying", so one of the newer ATI AIW
boards is what I'd get to replace my current one.
$200 is about the MAX I'm willing to go and grudgingly
 at that!

I have had no problem using Catalyst drivers with Win98SE. I do intend to migrate to Windows XP in the near future once I have replaced all of the Voodoo 5500 cards remaining in my computers with Radeons. With XP I can have 1.5 GB of RAM in all of my machines :D

I intend to get a Radeon 9800 Pro or maybe a 9700 Pro... just watching the prices since I am taking a big trip to Colombia right after Christmas to meet my wife's family.

Hey GB! :)  And congrats on the retirement!

FWIW I bought my last GFX card off eBay -for a song at that :)
Unless I can find an online venue offering a great "steal" I'll probably do that again for my next card. I'll wait to see how things go though. Already HiTech reports the FPS tweak have been dramatic. I've gotr my fingers crossed it is for everyone. But if I see anything I'll report in. $200 is more than my max so I'm looking for absolute bargains (not no name junk though!).
And I like Eaglers choices. Thanks for the note about the drivers working Eagler. I HATE Windows and really don;t relish the though of learning new "tricks" after finnaly mastering 95 and then 98. Just like GB :)  The ATI 9600 MX or Pro is what I'm aiming for right now. That and replacing my PC133 memory with PC2100 stuff. (I have a MB that can use either memory type).

HT said he saw increase in framerates from 17 to 41 with GF2 on Pyros setup.

Im gonna stick with my GF2 and wait till beta is over with when final is released, then I will determine If I need a new card.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!
