I am too busy now to watch news. I'll look through RU-net for details and maybe post some thoughts later.

Aliyev is an old fox, Azerbaijani republican KGB chairman since 68, First Secretary since 1972. Anyway, he stopped the war with Armenia and restored relative order when he came back in mid-90s. I don't know much about the current situation, almost no Azerbaijani aquaintances

Situation is ok now, elections ended and it is calming down. No one knows what will be next, and how good Aliev's son is in keeping the power, but at least now it is fine.
