After Milenko's post of that cool looking P51 I started looking around for a some nicely detailed, preferably die-cast models of WWII aircraft...check out this site, it has all kinds of models from different companies...

Lemme see, ya can "play" AH, but your above makin' VROOOM, ACK ACK ACK, swoosh noises as you run around the living room in your underwear, with a Die-Cast model in your hands?

Hmm, sounds like ya need to learn how to  enjoy the finer things in life.

hehe...hell, I have to log onto AH!  I've yet to find a pilot and chute in the proper scale so I can have all the necessary targets in my living room warfare...gotta have something to kill after the airplane!

You really want to see some totally AWESOME models of planes? Check out
 http://www.fineartmodels.com/mustang_thumbs.htm

If you have around $4,500.00 US, you to could own a hand crafted/assembled 1:15 scale P-51D Mustang so detailed, you can hardly tell if you are looking at the real thing or not. Several other fine models are also available.

I wish I had the money

Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

I've talked to Mr. Aikens several times and have bought many planes from him.  He usually tours certain airshows and sells also.

One of my most recent purchases was a 190A-7 from the Aces of the Luftwaffe series (by Armour).  Aikens has pretty good deals and he won't yank you if you get damaged goods.  If your going to buy I'd buy from him.

I know after talking to him that he's got alot of other WWII collectables

thanks for the links. Have you all heard that Matchbox is coming out with a 1:72 scale collectible series. Saw an ad in last Sunday's paper.

I have 14 of the Armour 1:100 models. They are very nice. They are the "right size" for a large collection.

Some of them are exceptional - for example the F-14 and F/A-18. The P-38 is also quite nice.

What's also amazing is that you clearly see the difference in size between planes. The F-14 is a huge aircraft compared to, say, the F-16. The smallest A/C I have is the P-40, which looks like a kite compared to the F-14.

have you noticed how much detail Armour puts into their stuff?

Looking at the one's I own I can't believe the minor details they have along with all those extremly tiny decals
