Holy crap zmeg. I've gotta do some system tweakin. Similar system, (Athlon XP 2200, 512mb ram running at 266), and I get about 75 frames in AH1, 35-40 in AH2. Maybe time to get a processor with a 333 FSB.

I've been thru this before too...AMD's, pure and simple, cost less for similar, if not better performance. That's means more spare change for more ram, or a better video card

I opted for AMDs for my personal computer/gaming needs. Intels for servers.

He's most likely disabled vsync giving an inaccurate frame rate reading. If he enables vsync it'll prolly go down to around 40-50

Radeon 9800 pro
Running at 1920 x 1440 res

Damn that spitfire picture above looks all horrible and jaggy you sure it was at 1600 x 1200 ?

Oh ya forgot to mention 2x AA was enabled as well.

AGH reducing the format from 1920 to fit the bbs has blurred the text at top of screen but fps was 118.

Still you can see the greatly improved quality.

That was AH2 but that shot was at 1024 x 768

BTW with v-sync on it cant exceed refresh rate whitch is 75fps but unlike AH1, AH2 doesn't seem to have any bad side affects from turning it off.

Disabling vsync causes rubber bullets, image tearing (in pan mode) and other problems - search for vsync issues by Skuzzy.

Besides although it may say that frame rate in AH, you can only see what your monitor is capable of. e.g. if your monitor can only support 75hz that's all you'll see, even if it says 150 in AH.

AMD.

Save 100$ over intel and get that extra 512mb of RAM. Stability is not an issue, if its unstable then you have poor heat sink.

Actually FPS has nothing to do with the monitor refresh speed. They're not connected in any way except on driver/software level.

All benchmarking should be done vsync disabled and games played with vsync on.
