OK new thread but maybe same subject.

All the net connection type icons, like pingplotter etc seem to have a small white box with a black or dark colored arrow on their lower left corner of the icon.  (this is w98se)

When I had connect problem I mentioned in other thread the icons had ALL changed color and the symbol was different AFTER trying to connect to AH.  I could connect to the net, email, etc no problem, even did several 3 meg downloads, but when I tried connecting to AH the problem would occur and the icon would change colors!

I have removed and reinstalled AH and now there SEEMS (lol not sure if I should trust it with all the problems I've had of late) to be an excellent connection between my machine and AH.

Any thoughts on this?????

Thought to self -- keep and eye on that little white box with the dark arrow in it on the connect icons!!!!

Uhmm,..that sounds like you got something like a virus or worm or some odd utility running around wrag.

Or your Windows registry is a mess.

Something definately not right there.  Desktop ICONS do not arbitrarily change.  If a change is happening, it is due to something making that change.

Virus?  Worm?  Hmmm maybe but runnin AVG anti-virus.

Seemed to only happen after a CTD while in AH?!

Don't know that the color/symbol change was arbitrary?  Could it have some thing to do with a setting that somehow got changed during CTD?  And was chaned back after remove/reinstall?

Hmmm.... maybe I do have some sort of wierd virus or worm :(

Uh,..you are not running that AVG while playing AH are you?

If you are, then that is probably the source of the discos.

AVG turned off when runnin AH!  Read the connect info you put out earlier :)

So AVG was off and ZoneAlarm was off.  Made know difference!!!

OK tryin AH after a shut down and reboot to see if it still works great like an hour ago :)  (with AVG off and ZoneAlarm off)

There is an icon rebuild in Tweak UI, give it a go, if it still occurs it's something else ;)

The Icons always return to normal upon reboot.

They were only changing after the CTD that occurred during an AH session and then only when I tried to connect to AH.

Ya I know, strange :confused:

Has not happened since I removed and reinstalled AH.  

I also set the vid to the same as the desktop rather then higher as I had it before.  1024X768 is the current setting rather then the next higer setting.  The CTD may have been related to vid somehow?  My system may be somewhat odd.  The MB isn't the best and the voltage in the vid and sound area may be just barely enogh as it is.

Something that may also be of note!!!

I saved my configs in a backup file and replaced them (copied em to the settings folder) after the reinstall and everything works great so far!  I'm very rarely getting a beacon and haven't lost UDP since!

This suggest to me something other then a setting file may have been corrupted?

Don't know if it matters but hopin it narrows things down some as to what may have happened.
