Survey: Whats your loadout for: XX ??
« on: October 29, 2000, 07:09:00 PM »
Lets say there's a mission up on the planner, and it's for a FIGHTER SWEEP.. The missions objective is to clear and cap the airspace over a defended target; prepatory to a JABO/STRIKE mission comming in. What's your favorite plane for the FIGHTER SWEEP mission; and how would you load it out?

Example:

P51, 50% internal fuel; and 2 external tanks.

Next; assuming you wished to join a JABO/STRIKE mission and you wanted to take a Fighter/Bomber with a JABO loadout, what plane would you take; and how would you load it out??

Two part question here, First; assume your JABO targets are the hangers and structures as well as any defending armor on the field. State your prefered plane type; and fuel/ordanance config for a hanger/anti-armor role.

Second; if the mission used a JABO A/C to attack field acks (instead of a B26 or B17) in a specialized role; what plane would you use; and how would you load it for JABO'ing field acks?

Example:

F4U1C, 75% fuel, 2 1k eggs, no rockets for hanger and armor strikes. 500's and rockets for acks.

Please feel free to add any commentary or reasoning behind your choices that you feel would be useful in planning missions of these types; and what type mission you would prefer to fly. I.E. What plane is best for anti-armor, which one is best at wild-weasleing acks? Why?

Thanks!

for fighter sweeps it's whatever kite I feel like flying

In the JABO role, really only one kite can do the hanger/anti-armor at the same time.  The -1C.  Drop the 2 1k eggs, reverse and shoot off the rockets, quick weapon switch to activate the second gun bank, lay down on the trigger = dead hanger.  Then you've still got 250-275rds (in each bank) to strafe tanks with.

V bases I'll use any kite in the inventory, save the Yak, La5 (never flown it), and 109s.  Any of them can strafe down the ack and hanger in 2 passes.

A bases:
If I'm assigned hanger duty I prefer the jug or lightning.  2 1k eggs + 10 rockets = dead hanger.  Depending on distance to target either 75% or 100% internal fuel.

If I'm on anti-armor patrol I prefer the -1C with 2x1k eggs and 100% fuel.

For ack duty I'll use just about any kite in the inventory, save the 109F4, G2, or G6, or La5 (cause I just dinnae fly it   ).  I've taken down all the acks at a small base in a Yak9 before, and had 150 or so MG rounds and all cannon rounds left to vulch with.  I think I've got that one on film too.

Mayhap we'll have to start organizing some more of our massive jabo raids.  They've kinda fallen off with the introduction of the quakewind =\

BTW hang, go to the help/training board and look for the thread 'JABO: use what ya got'.  I posted a couple of JABO films.

Rgr Cavey.. I'm trying to get a feel for whats 'popular' in those roles so i can put up missions on the mission planer in the Main arena that will have what folks most like to fly in those roles. No point in loading up a mission with odd a/c that nobody wants to fly; or submitting their fav A/C configured in a way that's unattractive.

Thanks for the input; keep it commin!

max loading for Jabo and Vfield attack P47-D30, 1 DT, 2 1000#, 10 rockts, 50% fuel.
For radar attack, P47-D25, 2 DT, 1 500#, 50% fuel.
For CAP 2 DT, 50% fuel (1 DT if eni is known inbound).

note:50% is not a lot, usually I run out of fuel before out of amo. But 50% is because I turnfight, a pure B&Zoomer would take 75%/100%. Oh and if higher when enagging, I keep my DT's for 1/2 passes.
Dat jugs bro.

I remove 1/2 the screws from my plane, take out the radio, fuzzy dice on mirror, the mirror, seat padding, drain 1/2 the oil from engine, 1/2 the Anti-freeze from radiator, and only take 4 rounds per gun, and 1/2 of a 50kg bomb......

This make my plane real fast, but unforunately, I fly with my eyes shut, so I never leave the airfield, I just do donuts on the tarmac.

Fighter Sweep:

A6M5b with 75% fuel and DT (centerline one)
Yak 75% or 100% - depending on range
F4U-1C - 75%, sometimes single DT
Spit 9 - 75% w/ DT

Jabo (structures and armor)

F4U-1C - Just guns, sometimes rockets

Jabo (acks and structures)

P-47D-30 - 75% fuel, 10 Rockets
F4U-1C (V Base special ) 75% fuel, just guns

Sometimes I will switch, but those are the main planes i end up flying.

P-47:  25% fuel, under belly drop tank.
P47 (Jabo): 100% fuel, 10 under wing rockets, two under wing 1000' lbers and a 50 lber under the belly.

and when I take one of these it's usually...

P-38:   25% fuel, one under wing tank
P-38 Jabo: 75% fuel, 10 rockets and two 100 lbers

109:   50% fuel, under belly drop tank
202/205: 100% fuel
Zeke:  50% fuel, under belly drop tank
LA5N  75% fuel.
YAK  75% fuel.

I don't fly Niki, Spit or F4u-1C's and I only  "jabo" with P-47 and P-38.
