Ndisles! After being frustrated to death by the endless 15k spits, 190s, and N1Ks, i logged in a huff.. I couldn't leave that easily though, and i came back an hour later. The usual, we lost most of the ground we had, everyone fightin for furball isle..
Took an IL2 to furball isle, 50% fuel, 6 100kg bombs and the RS-132 rockets. Grabbed 5k, leveled out, reached the center in some odd 5 minutes and saw the front line of a GV battle..
Drooling now, i .salvo 2, no delay, and drop eggs on the GVs first, taking fleeting pintle fire, each salvo of 2 nettin me one GV.. .salvo 2 the rockets as well, disabling one panzer and killing the next..
The front line moves up, more panzers on the way, i go in, cannons blazing, and my lack of rudder and aim gets me only one kill before i'm new bingo fuel.
Very fun! I go land at a friendly VH, collect my perks, up again for more GV killin action! Do this all day, finding that the IL2 can be a quite proficient emergency fighter, even with the rockets still attached. Both the 7.52mm and the 23mm have good balistics and range, The cannons having massive hitting power against GVs and the MGs having a great rate of fire, making for a great package.
When i came across a fighter i'de drop the bombs if i still had em..
I HO'd any fast planes (
), Hosing both 7mm and 23mm at D1.0 and ducking under (IL2 has good neg-G elevator authority) and avoiding the HO of whatever i think will turn with me..
Killed a 205, tiffy or two, la7s, yaks, spit9s, P38 this way, most with just the MGs!
Killed TW9's tiger turret with the cannons alone a couple times, then dogfought his own IL2 and won (by a small margin, however)

So all in all a very good day.. very fun.
