Salute Rip & VMF 323 it's BlueiceJ/Wildkat here. It's been a while, I was wondering what you guys are up to now a days. I am currently a United States Marine now. I signed up Sept. 23 and I ship off August 9th, 2004. I'm currently a senior in high school now. I'm pretty excited. I got my engineering job locked on and everything. I was just wondering what's up with you guys. I might take part in the Hellcat's over whatever SE tonight on my dad's name. I hope to see you there. Later All!

A Marine?!

Never woulda thunk it :)  Good luck!

So how's that work?  Will you be attending a university after basic for an engineering degree?

Hehe, I got to tell ya this.  Your not a Marine yet, just a recruit still :D   Sorry, had to do it. BTW, have fun, it is a blast.  If ya stay out of trouble it will be a great experience for you.

And unless things have changed, don't let the DI's hear ya call yourself a marine till graduation day.

Yeah Oct, I go to Boot camp for 13 weeks and than MCT, which is learning how to throw a nade and stuff and than onto get my engineering degree. I am very excited. I haven't been playing much of Aces High anymore because I play Soldier of Fortune 2, very fast paced, so that's my life now. I am thinking about returning to AH, I miss all the guys.

If the movies are anything close to reality Booky is right...you aren't a Marine yet.  In fact you will find that you are the lowest form of human life until you are done that 13 weeks.  ;)

But you WILL be a marine.

I haven't been flying at all for about 2 weeks...may be another 2 or 3...my new house has very very old telephone lines and I have to rip them all out and replace them.  My DSL simply wil not work with the existing wire...and I don't have it in me to go back to dial up.

Be back up as soon as I can.
Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain

davidpt40,

It's not always the diploma/degree that gets you the job. ;)
smarts, common sense, and drive help a lot.

I have no college degree and I'm an engineer at Hewlett-Packard. I am however surrounded by college dorks, some take it personal most are a great bunch of guys. Most of these guys can run rings around me with theory, but when it comes to producing physical results and knowing the function of the hardware/software, they come to me :D

It's my opinion I live a very lucky life.

Good Luck BlueiceJ see you up!

David...it's called you go to the Marines and after boot and MCT (Marine Combat Training) you get trained in the job that you picked, mine being an engineer and you will gain a degree in less than 4 years.

Us navy types are always happy to take someone else errr the marines to the landing zone.........and remember, the marines are a subsidiary of the navy.

And take booky's advice about not saying you are a marine befor you are...but get your buddy to! hehehehee

Good advice, start off by visiting your nearby Army-Navy surplus store. Purchase a pair of boots and a large pack. Fill the pack with 75 lbs of whatever, strap it on and run 20 miles a day, wearing the boots. Oh...and don't forget to sprint the last mile.

Oh...and one more thing...if he asks where your from and follows up with a comment about you not having any horns, do NOT put your index fingers on either side of your head and say 'Moo'.

Good luck.
