the "do-not-spam" registry will be the most sought after ACTIVE email address list the spammers will want to get their hands on

Why can't it be done?

They stopped Cold Calling.

Why notrequire all unsolicited e-mail to have the letters [UNSOL] in the subject line? Then we can have our filters eliminate it?

Why is spamming different than cold calling?

I have not received a single spam email in many months.

The trick is to have two accounts. A serious personal one that you only give to people who you trust (will not send you forwards and ****) and the other you use for filling out online forms and such things.

You can avoid spam if you are net-smart.

I was thinking the exact same thing!

And the Spammers will probably move off shore too, out side of US jurisprudence. At which ISP have the option of blocking all IP traffic... will be interesting to see where this goes.

When you read the article, you'll see the law is not banning spam... one of the requirements is that the subject lines are not "misleading..."

This means, that the courts will then have to decide what "misleading..." means.

I'm hopeful something good will come out of this...
Like cheaper viagra pills with out a doctor's visit... or a better noodle enlargment system... free sex with neighborhood women(no wait they are ugly...) free sex with college co-eds ... and lower credit card interest rates.. realestate deals... and my favorite, debt consolidation.
