Poll. Would you vote for...
« on: October 23, 2003, 02:51:46 PM »
A: An honest man, he will never lie to you, but he is only an OK politician, and he only has some of the same views, say 70% of his views you like.

or

B: A dirty lying scum bag, an excellent politician.  He is so scummy you would be afraid to leave your 14 year old girl with him. He agrees with your views 100%.

I would vote for A: Because honesty and integrity mean something to me. I try and be a good man, and I define that as not lying, not cheating, not breaking my word ever. I think we need more of that in politics and I can  respect a man who is honest even if I do not agree with him on all issues.

I have tried the poll on 3 people so far. 2 came in B: and one for A:

A dirty lying scumbag great politician will probably be able to accomplish much more in the long run. Since many of my views are morally grounded and you said he agrees with them 100% I'd have to go with B.

MT,
exactly what I was thinking.  he was by far the most honorable man to hold that office in my lifetime.  clinton did a good job but I wouldn't want to know him on a personal level.

I think Carters integrity was his major downfall, he refused to stoop to the mud slinging level and the world of politics kicked his ass.

but back on topic-  A

I voted for 'A' last time and even though 'B' tried to rob the election 'A' still won. :)

And how do I know 'A' is honest and does not lie?

He may just be better at Words of Mass Deception than 'B'.

I always thought that you know a politician is lying when his lips move.

You know in this case cause it's a hypothetical question and I set the rules.

So he is Honest and you KNOW it to be true.

Actually it is pretty damn close to reality in that we had choice B for 8 years already. He now lives in NY with his husband.

In your scenario, how would you be able to trust his "views" if he was in fact a lying scumbag? His agreeing with your views would likely be just another lie.

I'd go for A.
