Beirut, Lebanon.  Suicide truck bombing killed over 200 US Marines and French servicemen serving as UN peacekeepers in a region undergoing civil war between Christians and Muslims.  Muslims saw the UN forces as enemies (of course) and bombed the US embassy and the building serving as barracks for the troops.

If I'm not mistaken, Lebanon is still considered a war zone.
