are you a Yankee or a Southerner?

Ask the Yanks, I'm from the South, but ask the Rebs, I'm from the North.  My state is mixed with the Caverts and the Crosslands, thus the black and gold check pattern, and the red and white crosses on my state's flag.  They couldn't agree either.  I am, and my heart will always be with the good ol' boys who love mash whiskey, fast cars, and women who look good, and can cook.  The land I love has the ocean and mountains, and is full of blood from boys who died in battle.  They all talked with an accent, North and South alike.  You listen to someone from North...huh?  You hear someone from South, and ask, "what did he say?"  But ya know there's nothing better than seeing a southern belle's smile, while she's removing her clothes.  YEEEEEHAW!   :aok   I'm a Crossland. ;)

Amen Amen, I am so thankful that I live in the South (Georgia).  I have traveled through out the US and I can tell you there is nowhere in the US that can match the hospitality and friendlines of the South (GA,AL,TN,SC,NC,MS) anywhere else is not considered southern to me.  My beloved Georgia Bulldogs might actually have a chance at a National Championship this year I am so exicted that the SEC will finally comeback to dominace within this year or the next 4 years.  GOOOOOO DAWGS SIC EM WOOF WOOF WOOF!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to agree with that statement :).

Though situated in the South I never considered myself a "Southern Gentleman" of the species found in the so-called "Deep South" so I see myself as a Native Texican.

Born in Texas, raised in Brasil until '65, now back home in Texas again.

American by the grace of God.

Cheesehead.

However, after living in Atlanta and Chattanooga, I can vouch that Capt. Funkypants is right. Your in the South if there is a Waffle House, period.

Anything north of the Red River is Yankeeland.:aok

My ancestors fought against the Yankees in the War of Northern Aggression.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Speaking of the Civil War, I found it funny living there lotsa Southerners actually still take a interest in it. Not in a historical Ken Burns way, but more like a pathetic redneck ignorance. I could only understand it as a grasp at heritage, which it is I guess, or just the way they were brought up. Certainly growing up in Wisconsin no one ever mentioned it as I recal. It got about as much attention as say... a war that happened 100 years ago.

Shouldn't the question be "Are you a Yankee or a Reb"?, or alternatively "Are you a Northerner or a Southerner"?

Lol, some funny and ridiculous stuff here...I'm from Maine, lived in the South from the time I was 2 until 11. I consider myself neither a yankee or a southerner, no my friend I'm a Maineiac. Much good and bad to be said about both regions and I love them both. I will say that in the South there are many still fighting the Civil War, my older sister actually had a teacher that taught them the Confederacy won. Guess what ?, The Civil Wars over  and South of the border we're all Yankees.:)

BTW ! Fellow Maineiac Athena, always like running across others from the Pine Tree State.:)

Naw Shuck, if Sherman had camped outside of Wisconsin in a blockade and drank every day for months like he did then, it would have been a tailgate stalemate. He would have finally had a heart attack.

I'm just saying that the Civil War Southern pride to this day is kinda laughable, but I understand the upbringing and heritage. I actually really dig the Confederate Flag and what it represents. At that time, men were men, and were loyal to their states.

Still, like the blacks that wanted Clinton to give them money and apologise, I haven't met anyone that called me a yank that had the character or nads enough, that would say, go on Pickett's charge and have limbs blown of by primitive .50 cal rounds for what they believed in.

Read "Killer Angel's" . Amazing insite into bravery.

All this spent energy over who won that war, the Yankees or the Americans.  I am telling you it is over and should be left alone.
