I agree with you guys that we need a better scenario, but some better interiors of the planes would be welcome too.
Like have you ever seen the B-17's ball turret or it's waist-gunners compartiment? it looks awfull! so does it's rear gunner comp.

What criteria would you use? Famous and familiar to you? Famous and familiar to someone who lives in Milan, Italy or Tokyo, Japan or even Helsinki, Finland? This is no basis for criteria IMO. I seriously doubt most (or even half) of the AH community was familiar with all of the planes modeled in AH before the signed on to play. I bet some discovered the fun of flying something they either had either no or a very casual knowledge of before they played.

I think part of the fun of a WWII based online air combat sim can be that of discovery and education. If we limit it to just the planes 100% of the potential customer base is familiar with then it's time to break out the axes and start cuttin' back. :D

Heck, Grumman F8F-3 Bearcat never went in combat in WWII(I think but if someone know then prove it) and also F7F Tigercat didnt enter combat during WWII either.

Right on Arlo.  I thought I knew WWII airplanes before I started playing AH, but the amount I've learned is amazing.  And then guys like Batz start spouting info, and I realize that I still know just about nothing.   :)

P-39Q is one of the best options for a new plane.  Widely used by the russians, it would best be done with a russian paint scheme.  It also  fills one of the few remaining gaps in the US planeset.  It's fairly fast, a good low level performer, with a weapons loadout that would make a tiffy think twice about a HO.  (Two or four .50mg's, and a 37mm cannon)  A needed historical plane, with the added bonus of being quite competitive in the MA.

Can we drop the damn f7f, f8f, and p80 crap?  If it didn't shoot something down in ww2, it doesnt belong in AH.

I know Lockheed P-80 and Grumman F7F-4 & F8F-3 dont enter service during WWII, but they didnt enter the combat and they all too-late.  All of them did see the combat during Korean War and they were successfull i believe.

But thats the point, they were successful in the KOREAN war, not WW2.

F8F-1 was on combat duty in WW2 though, with VF 18 and 19
aboard the USS Langley.

i think any plane that was in production and in squad service
before end of ww2, should be in AH. but planes like the F8F-1
would be some of the last to be added after the more
produced, and used 1s.

by that definition, alot of pilots in ww2 were just pilots  not
combat pilots.
