Actualy it was the Hurricane that won the war not the SPITFUER. The Battle of Britian was the turning point of the war, first major german defeat. If england was taken over then where would the 8th set up shop?
When germany invaded USSR who would put pressure on them in the form of a second front? England take over no more fighting in North Africa, free resources for Russia. BoB was the turning point in the war. More hurricane's that spitfires. The hurris went after the bombers mostly while the spits took care of the 109s. Hurris were more durable and had better gun layout. The 8 x .303s were close togehter where as the 8 x .303s in the spit were spread out.

Actually, the turning point of the war was when Hitler cancelled the invasion of Britain because his Astrologer told him to!!...Operation Sealion would have done serious damage to the UK if not for Nazi Mysticism.
(Gave the UK time to tool-up & produce more spits & Hurri`s too)...
...Wish the Heinkel 111 would hurry up & make an appearance in AH - then we could really have some BOB fun!   :D

Operation ealion would have been a great blessing for Britain, if Germany had tried to carry it out without total air superiority. Several German divisions destroyed, along with a lot of the pride and mystique of the German army.

Ammo, I didn't fall for the Hblair troll. I was responding to
"Why on earth do we need another late model Spit?"
Another implies we have one already, and there seem to be quite a few people who think the Spit IX is a late war fighter, when in reality it was in combat use from June 42.

I am all for Spit XIV, unperked. I we could handle La7, I don't see why would Dweebfire XIV be more dangerous plane.
