I'm Afraid of the Dark
« on: October 27, 2003, 08:17:55 AM »
Actually I'm not but apparently many others are. Yesterday as night fell at roughly 4PM EST the CT dropped from a high of 31 users at around that time to 11. Considering the already low numbers involved in the CT would it be possible to get rid of this source of annoyance? I know it has been mentioned before. My question is with such a perfect example of its' effects why must we continue with night time?

Please gentlemen turn it off.

ditto.. i can live with even a shorter dusk/dawn, but i don't think those settings can be tweaked individually. hmmmmm?? can you set from 6:30pm to 7:00am to run in like 1 sec?

Just an idea but if everyone could live with time standing still, the CM could adjust the time multiplier to 0 and stop time to stay afternoon or whatever was agreed upon.

I don't believe that idea will fly.

If you "stop time" all the other varibles of the arena won't work such as downtimes for targets. Once destroyed they will not rebuild. It is built into the arena.

I will see what I can find out and report back later.

Umm I didn't think of that Jester, but I think you are correct. I'll check into it some more as well.

Update:
Just talked with daddog. It may be that down times are not tied to the arena clock afterall. Might be worth checking out.
Sounds like setting the mulitplier to 0 is the only sure way to avoid night?

I agree with the "end the night" folks...

Although I usually do not log off when night falls I
DO stop flying anything other than a Buff or I'll
get in a GV and screw around for the 1+ hour
between dusk & dawn.

I'd rather be furballing, so end the night in the CT please.

SUCCESS!!!  :aok

I am proud to report back that there is now no longer any "Night Time" in the CT Arena (At least for this set-up). Maybe about 10 minutes worth of "Dusk" but nothing that can't be flown in. As soon as the Sun sets it will start to rise again.

Your "Friendly Neighborhood CT Staffer" comes to the rescue again. TY, TY, TY please don't grovel on the cape, I have to have it special dry cleaned.  :D

TY Jester, most appreciated.

While I enjoy using the cover of darkness in the MA there isn't much point in it inside the CT.
