If you right click and 'save target as' this movie should download in a few minutes. It's 56Mb. The story of Grizz and his epic 4 hour 262 sortie. Taken about a month or more to coordinate things with grizz and at times to work around some film viewer problems but I think we are both happy with the final product.

Of all things, its the Hurri 1. The irony. :rofl That was some of the best flying and shooting I've ever seen. I caught myself drooling halfway through. Great flying, and movie editing on the part of bat! :aok

thanks for all kind comments guys. The editing is easy it just takes a long time and patience. The real skill and credit lies with Grizz, for providing the superb material to work with. I have no idea how he makes those shots look so easy. Kaz, sorry man but I wont be looking at one of these screens (http://www.freeroleentertainment.com/editingsucks.JPG) for a very long time now :lol You should have a go yourself, it's easy just very time consuming.

Excellent video and editing Batfink. I am familiar with screens that look like that. :) Nice job at having the energy to start and complete such as large task. Just working with the Film Viewer is a huge feat. I enjoyed watching the entire film.
Grizz, you should be banned from flying the 262. It just ain't right to leave the keys of a 262 in your hands. :)
The ending, however tragic, was a nice reminder of the risk you took with each enemy encounter.
An epic journey with an epic ending, makes for an epic film!

Outstanding on both ends gents, great video production and absolutely OUTSTANDING flying and marksmanship Grizz. Nowadays it takes something fairly special to entertain me, and this video had me not only watching it twice, but calling a couple other non players about the place here to come have a look at it.

Was noticing how almost every shot looks "for the most part" the same. Crossing shot from below I think was the majority i believe. Spooky set ups.

I would have assumed it to be a landing glitch, where once in a blue moon someone lands 2 kills only to have it report landing 150 kills in the text buffer. :)

Nicely done :aok I gotta be more patient w/262 on AoA. Great shooting! Bat, maybe HT should get you to edit commercial for them. I loved the scene along the coast.

Basically that's how I do it most of the time. It's not about the aim but the setup. I can't give too many jet secrets away though, I had to learn on my own. :noid :aok

i know 99% if not all your secrets :aok
But i do know your biggest secret and that really helps set the angle, cant miss your shot if its done right

If you watch closely at 5:04 to 5:10 you can actually see the boggle eyed Grizz!! he has the stare of a maniac!! thats what these long sorties will do to you :P

Fantastic Shooting. Getting kills on those 30mm-4 round burst-crossing shots, on enemies below the nose are just incredible. <S>
If I could shoot like that my kill ratio would be at least 1.0 ;)

Actually batfink could probably make an all encompassing AH video- air land and sea that, and knowing him, would be very high quality and more than worthy to be used in a commercial. In fact, it wouldn't be a half bad idea for HTC to make some sort of a contest with prizes to come up with commercial footage.

That looked like you could have popped the hurri right in the face but you didnt.....class act flying. I think the best shot was the blind shot when you were going right at the sun, you see the plane enter the blind spot, you shoot, then half a plane come out of the sun :rofl .

Awesome stuff, music GREAT, camera angles GREAT, and the extra stuff like the kill counter and the part showing the dead stick landing GREAT.

It's really tough to do for a number of reasons. Firstly you have to be committed to sitting there for over 4 hours without a break, that's #1. Second you have to have a sustainable fight that will last that long. Lately, it seems most of the uber hordes are very temporary. They arrive at a base, overwhelm it, capture it, then move on to the other side of the map. When that happens you have to just land your scalps and end the sortie. Also, you have to avoid any sort of lucky sprays that will give you an oil leak or some other sort of mission ender. I've probably rolled my jet with the prospect of landing 100 only a handful of times. The closest I got other than that one was 64 victories before having to try to land at a vbase and getting a ditch. The most I have ever landed successfully is 51 IIRC.

He actualy got 100 kills, the last one being an A6m that he also collided with. He then proceeded to glide a few miles and ditch 100 kills on the grass between bases hehe So close.
The problem came after a patch that changed something in the game. Films got messed up and buggy. The hurricane that killed him in the movie only gave a few pings and oil damage on left engine. Then the A6m collision came a few minuts later. For some reason after the patch that MkI takes off every single surface and leave a flying cockpit. The movie ending was a compromise but with the closest possible to reality ending.

If you can't get any media players to run it you could try right clicking, save target as to desktop (if you were trying to stream) then try opening the film in any movie software. Windows movie maker will probably work but the quality wont b e so great. :headscratch:

Great video, and you did a fantastic job putting it together.
But can I ask you to re-render it at a higher quality? For us AH people, we know what the game is like, so its fine. But I don't feel like I can show it to people who've never seen AH to get them interested in the game because they'll think the graphics are worse than they are.
Try running at 1.5 - 2 Mbps instead of 550Kbps and chop the framerate down to 15 or 12 fps instead of 29.97. That high of a framerate on a video game video isn't needed (This has nothing to do with frame rates while playing the game, before anyone gets smart with me). Also the audio quality was "rendered" quite poor, and isn't in stereo. Yes it'll be a larger download, but I won't mind. If your web site bandwidth is an issue, upload it to Filefront.

Thanks for the tips Boiler Down! I didn't think about frame rate as relating to file size. Sadly I deleted the fraps capture files, they were taking up 35GB of disk space. I am afraid the movie is stuck as it is. Kind of rustic in production. For instance there were alot more audio sounds like enemy engines I wanted to add but the effort involved for 12 minute movie was too daunting. http://www.youtube.com/user/Niros1 try this page for game tasters for non-players. Niros' movies show the game at it's very best i think The latest WWI is a masterpiece. I hope to produce something this detailed one day.

Ahh well that's a shame. I now (after learning the lesson the hard way) render and keep an overly-high quality version of every video I make on my hard drive, so that I have something to use if I ever want to re-render at a different quality. A lot smaller than the original fraps but big enough that I don't feel I'm losing much if the need or want arises to work with it again. To date all my videos have been of World of Warcraft, I'm interested in making an AH one though whenever I can capture something worth making a video of... I'm not good enough yet... every time I land 4 or 5 kills, when I look back a lot of it was luck :lol .
