Title: How to push a player out
Post by: 2Dizzy on September 24, 2020, 08:39:07 PM
<S> Gents

After playing for 20 years I decided to quit. I'm being hunted for several days now, in flight  and keyboard wise by several players. Yes, I have comments, I am mouthy and I get frustrated quite easily. I admit. Tried to adjust, but to much weirdness and tricks are going on ingame. As soon as you adress it, your a visiting slaughterhouse 5 on channel 200. I love the game and the flying, not the bag of tricks, the bashing and insults. Its enough

To Osmium; you finally got me to the point to quit. Be proud of it. To my squadmates and friends ingame: it was fun. Thanks for the good company!

Hate to see you go! Detuning 200 is the best move to make, I rarely tune and even more rare for me to reply. Made for an enjoyable time.

"Weirdness and tricks" usually equal crappy internet connections..

Good luck with the rest of your life

Why even have 200 tuned up?  It’s akin to drinking outta the gutter.  If you’re being “hunted” because of what you’ve said, whose fault is that?  Stay in the game for the fun.  Eliminate listening to 200 and squelch anyone that continues to “hunt” you.  Listening to someone’s else’s trash is your choice, not theirs.  What you say is your choice, not theirs.

Stay in for the fun.  :salute

LOL "drinking out of the gutter".

200 used to be fun on occasion.  Now it's 95%:

"You HOed me, and you should feel bad."
"I died outnumbered, and you should feel bad."\
"I chased you to ack, and you should feel bad."
*political BS who gives a flying toss topic of the day bonus round*

I keep it on most of the time for no good reason, but yes if it's bugging you it does have an off switch.  Squelch early, squelch often, and don't beak on 200 unless you're prepared to have it returned in kind.

Wiley.

I haven't tuned into channel 200 is years and was happy for it. I'm a rubbish pilot now that I'm older and flying way less than I used to, but I do still enjoy winging up and flying with buds.

Hope you change your mind. :salute

Thanks all for the replies and advice of some of you. Tuning down Chanel 200 is probabely the best one. I’ll think it over, but have to cool down a bit for a clear mind. May be I’ll reconsider in a few days.

I really liked 200 back in the day.

Imagine:  Me (a rather noob) in a Yak fighting a P-51.  We're bobbing & weaving, doing a little dancing.  Pinging each other here or there, waiting to land the heavy shots.
Never happened though.  We would both stall out in the verticle together and try to get a lead while falling down.
Finally I run out of fuel due to damage.  The Pony follows me to the ground as I ditch.  (No choice, I was out of fuel).
The gentleman gave me a <S> and flew home.  He could have shot me while I was on the ground.  Nope, he didn't...
Instead, he got on 200 and asked 'who was the Yak against my P-51?  Good fight'
I thanked him for not killing me on the ground, which he had every opportunity to do so.

Those were the days my friend...  :aok

Gotta agree with this.  Also, there may be no need, but it can be funny when they get wound up every once in a while.

I don't view all my opponents as enemies like a lot seem to, only the annoying ones.  :D

2Dizzy I hope you reconsider.  It after all is just a game.  As for me I always have 200 tuned because I have many friends who play this game.  From all countries!  You will never see me type on 200 unless it is a salute or saying, conversing with some of the friends I've made in this game since its' inception.  Alas many of my friends since the games' inception no longer participate.  I've been here over 20 years and in that time period I've flown with many many good people in many different squads in FSO and Scenarios.  If I get into a good fight it is a joy.  If I lose it still is a joy and salute those for the fight!  (Not many of those today unfortunately.)

Also..if someone comments negatively on how you play the game, you can always ask them to pay your subscription!  You pay........you play the way you wish.  Don't the comments of a few deter you from having fun.

reconsider!  By the way if you fly FSO and Scenarios you will get to meet many new people.  It will make the game more enjoyable for you!

Thanks for you're reply. Its supportive and helps me a bit to get a clear perspective without the emotional fuzz.  I'll really will reconsider. I'll contact DutchVII, he's active in FSO and scenario's -I think- (and a countryman). May be he can give me some help and get me on that trail.
In the meantime I'll try to cool my headroom with some ice cubes.

Make yourself a squelch list (a 3 x 5 card should be big enough).  :D  When you log on into the Melee arena right click on that offensive players call sign in the roster and simply click squelch voice and click squelch text. Your problem is solved.

There are some players I like a lot, but if they are talking way too much and I cannot hear the enemy GV start up, then
I squelch them too. No one gets offended because they do not know they have been squelched nor can they push your buttons to get a rise out of you. It works
for 200 as well.

im guilty of shooting planes on the ground. But a few weeks ago this c47 pilot kept upping and I shot him down a few times, the last time he upped I kept buzzing him but not shooting, trying to guide him back to his home.....he didn't get the message and a friendly shot him down eventually. These days no one expects any kind of leeway.

also, i never tune 200, but i do miss the cross country messaging ability.

doesn’t seem like you have 200 on though.

I’ve noticed a lot more of players losing their cool over such small matters. It’s a game, relax...had to tell another Knight that few days ago when he went really raged on me about trying to do the same thing he was: kill the hangar camper.

Hope you stay 2Dizzy! That guy ain’t worth anymore thinking about...

Hello gents,

After some days cooling down, I thought over the situation and all the advices and remarks I've got on my post. First of all, I do miss the flying. And second, I thought about how I can get my mind in such state to enjoy the flying more and at the other hand get some distance from the crappy things like being hunted down or verbally attacked.
I decided -for now- to keep flying, but without channel 200 and just focusing on the flying part, flightwise and country-wise. Just for fun, just as a fighter, no rank no game wise flying. The next days I'm gonna figure out if this works for me in the MA. I considered flying FSO, but after some information, its clear thats not going to work for me. I'm form Europe and the time difference is a serious issue. I would have to fly from about 3 o'clock in the night to 6 o'clock in the morning. To much wife-ack to expect.

So, you can see me in the sky now and then, and hopefully I get to enjoy the game again.

Thanks all for the replies and advice. It helped a lot.

You should just look at as an opportunity to become better. It's well within your capacity. If you played for 20 years you should at least be able to find parity with your hunter.

That is great news.  I usually keep 200 detuned.  Last week I happened to have it up and got baited in and received a warranted 10 minute mute for speaking my mind.  Channel 200 can be poison sometimes.  I hate to hear about losing good people in game and I am glad to hear you will stay.  I have come to the realization that I can not and will not let people I barely know, dictate my mental health.  Stick around and of course, try the scenarios and FSO.

Glad you are sticking around! This game can be tough mentally. It will also strengthen your mental toughness to online bullies. I've learned throughout the years to not allow anyone to talk crap to me. Gotta be tough these days. Just fly your own way, with your own plane, and your own style, and dont worry about anyone else. This is a dog eat dog game where gaining the advantage is crucial to success. Practice what you want to be better at. Fly a P47 on the deck and learn defense maneuvers. Don't allow people to get to you because of the way you fly. Don't worry about score and all of that crap. Just focus on ACM and flying for the thrill of it. Yeah it sucks to die and fly back to a base, but that is just part of the game. You will get better by learning and practicing and predicting what opponents are going to do. Remember, if you get too pissed off, you can always fly a 190A8 or 110 and go on a HO rampage (very fun) or grab a tempest or 262 from a back base and climb to 30K and buzz everyone. Thats what I like to do when the tide turns against me.

We so need pilot animations! I would love to able to give people the finger make like Ronny J Dio or Moon Clu from my parachute.  :neener:

Glad you decided to make some changes Dizzy and play for enjoyment.   BTW   Try the 8 hour scenario on October 17th.    Fly all or part of it.  Whatever works for you.
