J is the best IMO. 50% fuel is usually what I always take unless I'm going to a far fight (50% = 18 mins). Just keep it at a decent speed, it is a turn fighter (just not spitfire style  :D), and don't be afraid to take some hits it can take it.

Still learning this plane myself and its one of the more fun planes to fly!

From what I heard, the P-38 is a plane that can fly.  :rofl
The other thing i learned is that if its not landing or landed, it and the ground doesnt get along.

I think there are nearly 50 P-38 films in the 479th Raiders Library (http://479th.jasminemarie.com/index.php?page=func/library) if you'd like to see what it is capable of in experienced hands.

Yes the P-38 can take a beating. I was able to land it (ok crash land it  :D) at a nearby vbase without a right vert stab, right rudder, right engine, and no left aileron! Had to cut throttle to get out of the spin I was in on that run!

a p 38 is tough in the inside wing and the out side is less tough it also is the easyest plane to shoot someone down at 1.5k

Most of the films are compressed in a .zip file to save file space.  Programs like WinZip or WinRar opens zip files, and you can just double click the film from there.

Windows has your file association wrong...

Try it this way.  Extract the .ahf from the zip file to a folder.  Open AHFilm.exe located in your Aces High II folder.  Click file>open... and navigate your way to and select the film you extracted.

Hopefully just doing that will fix the file association so that you can just double click films.

If not, go to the .ahf file. Right click it and select open with....

Then opt to select a program and navigate to the AH film player in your AH directory. Default is: C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\ahfilm.exe

Check always use this program option.

Hope this helps! :aok

Being a born a Canuck, I've been a Spitdweeb pretty much since I was 12 ...
After reading about my parents' country of decent; the Philippines, turns out the P-38 was a celebrity.. 1st Allied aircraft to land on Philippine soil since the beginning of the liberation campaign during 1942.

Kind of ironic, however, that when I began flying this, my former buddy, a 109 dweeb, switched over to Ki-84's and to a smaller extent, to the Spitfires themselves!

Any films, Murdr, you'd recommend in the Raiders' library that would help me defeat these particular aircraft?

Right click on the film and select Properties.  Then click on the Change button.  This will now allow you to select which program you want to use to open up the AH files.  Scroll down the list and select the AHfilm.exe program.  If it isn't on the list, then click on the Browse button.  Now select the AHfilm.exe file (it will be located in C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II folder) and make sure that the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is checked.  You're done.  You should now be able to double click on the AH film and have it run properly.
