Obama will be the first African American to lose the Presidential election. I wonder if people will ponder about that in years to come?
Seriously, I don't think he has a chance. McCain will get 100% of the Republican vote, and at least 20% of the Democratic vote, and probably 40 - 60 of those who don't align with either party.
The Republicans, and the McCain camp has to have been spending the last few months laughing, and building up all kinds of stuff about Obama that he would rather not come out, including his appalling lack of integrity, his overwhelming lack of experience, and all the questions about his life that all politicians have exposed during such a high profile election.
He's toast.
My name is Dago and I authorized this message.

don't underestimate our stupidity and the power of the dems to prey on it ... I think there are enough idjits in this country to actually vote the empty suit bro into office if they can be motivated into the polling booths ...
It would be very entertaining if he does win and does destroy the country over the next four years .. it ain't 1992 where the potus can sit back and ride the wave generated by the past two admins ... this potus will actually have to make REAL decisions, not which cigar he should flavor next...

Well sir remember the congress can vote out the president so im not worried about any president ruining are country.

I would guess that there will be plenty of guilty white man votes for Obama.

If that's your thought, you should worry. The congress will be controlled by the leftist nutbags of the dems for the next, 6 years almost 7.

Whodathunk that Busch would get re-elected..but he did. Nothing would surprise me in this country now a days.

We all thought he would when Kerry was the opposition. That was a no-brainer....either vote for Dumb, or Dumber...

Apparently Obama does better than Hillary amongst educated whites with greater than $50,000/year income. Who'da thunk? Fargin idiots.

Wait till Blagovetch gets nailed for fraud and corruption. He'll rat out osamabama and show he is as bad a crook and conman as George Ryan

He might improve his chances if he selects Hilary as his VP. She seems to be open to it..
she told congressional backers that she was "open" to the idea of being Mr Obama's vice-presidential running-mate.

If he loses , will the oceans start rising again?
Can you believe the end of that speech? Talk about a person with a visions of a grand destiny - he honestly believes his nomination is changing tides of the ocean! I think he went slightly over the top but i GUARANTEE no old media will point this out.

Pretty much urban social liberals voting with emotion and not their intellect. You would think that with all that education a few would have set emotion aside and took a look at his real record in Illinois; his rise to power as an insider in the corrupt cook county/Illinois Democratic machine (his established mentors and endorsements and support local party machine hacks like Daley, Stroger and Tillman); all the sources of the soft money he is receiving from the usual industries and a few unusual ones even (Wall Street);his endorsement by consummate insider Ted Kennedy and established party leaders like Soros and the Hollywood set. Yeah, a real outsider ready to change politics and reunite America
But then, Obama is an elitist and it's natural that the urbanized educated progressive Democrats (not Republicans, remember) would share his elite vision for how the big government can re-engineer and control a "proper" society along the lines of New York City, Mass., or Chicago. Equally not surprising that more rural democrats who think, for example, that something like Sex and the City is a bunch of silly NY BS with no connection to their lives would possibly not find Barry the best candidate from the party :) Poor, simple folk clinging to their guns and religion...

The funny thing is that this general election was the dems to lose. It seems that it's more important to them to nominate a minority than to win the election...

Sure she would be. Then when he if he gets elected he ends up having one of those strange accidents or ends up commiting suicide.

I sure hope people will vote for Bob Barr instead of Barack Hussein Osamabama

Another option would be to simply set him up for an impeachable situation and simply take over. That's another "dirty trick" to fit the mold.

What the hell is Dubya still doing in office, then?
Well, you'd think with as much hatred as there was towards Dubya, if the Dems had a leg to stand on other than rhetoric he'd be out.
That says something in itself.
-
Unfortunately the best opportunity anyone had to get rid of him--Violation of Constitutional authority via separation of powers (the precedent was set during LBJ's administration, I believe) by illegally bypassing the courts with the unilateral ordering of warrantless wire-tapping--there was a Republican majority in Congress.

I was listening to a comic this morning who suggests that obama should select a person of mexican descent as a running mate, the implication being that if obama were assasinated the new president would open the southern border. I was laughing at the thought of this, pretty funny stuff.
I fail to understand why all the vitriol towards this intelligent and articulate man. he's not even really black. the reason why I can't support him is his overwhelmingly liberal voting record and his lack of integrity. the man is a hustler and nothing more.
I think this will come down to a presidential race that will further divide the nation along blue/red party lines. I think obama will do well in the blue states that don't have a large woodchuck population and he will do awfully poorly everywhere else.
-
not to mention race lines .. if/when he loses in Nov, expect Jesse and Sharpton to start making whitey noises

We don't just have a presence in Iraq. We are in ALL these countries, and if you have a good reason for leaving Iraq, surely you have reasons for leaving these as well.
-
He's our best option for getting out of Iraq now. McCain is not.
how so?
-
I guess he believes everything a politician says eh?
-
Obama's promise to pull out of Iraq immediately only makes sense if it is in the nation's best interest for us to pull out immediately. I'm not convinced that it is.
Building a nation from scratch is not easy...just look at our own history. It took more than a decade to work out all of our problems and inter-state bickering before we were able to write the Constitution and formulate a stable government.
With casualties at their lowest rate since the Iraq war began, progress is apparently being made... but attempts to resolve differences between Sunni and Shi-ite factions are still ongoing, and U.S. forces are needed to help further stabilize the situation and finish the rebuilding of Iraq's infrastructure.
As McCain and others have pointed out, exiting prematurely would dishearten our allies and encourage our enemies in the region. We need to finish the job, if for no other reason than to avoid both of those consequences....and to show the world that we finish what we start, and cannot be side-tracked by election year rhetoric.

No statute of limitations on that is there? Dems have Congress now... why don't they take action?
-
Yeah...and while they're at it, the Dem's can investigate all those nasty rumors about voting corruption in Illinois and Texas during the election of 1960.
-
Cant argue that. And here we are in 08...no choice again.
Of course you have a choice.
Barr is running as a Libertarian, Chuck Baldwin is running under the Constitutional Party and you can always write in Paul or Kucinich.
When do we decide that we're mad as hell and we're not going to take this crap anymore? When do we stop voting against someone and start voting FOR someone that represents our views? When do we finally show these two corrupt, worthless national parties that we demand better?

not everyone thinks we should leave Iraq for the cheekboness in Iran ... to leave now only invites a future larger disaster - too bad too many sitcom junkies think every conflict in the world can't be over in a 30 minute show or 2 month season premiere .. most great things involve even greater sacrifices than many seem to be able to stomach.
Leaving now would do NOTHING but make it EVERYTHING worse ... so sorry, we are there for the VERY long haul - best get used to it.
-
I'm curious ,what presence do you have in Vietnam ?
-
There is an Embassy in Hanoi as well as a fair amount of commercial interests and business investments.
-
Certainly ,as for sweden spain ...
I wonder if it was his point, especially how it's related to Iraq
-
I was going to suggest that McCain should take Hillary as VP.
But McCain could pull a Foster and we would have the first female President.
On a more personal note, I am very happy that a black man can be seriously considered for President of the United States of America.
Being black and moderate, I would have preferred Colin Powell or Condoleezza Rice (rawr...seksy) for a double whammy (black and female) but there you go...progress and change in action already.
-
McCain and Hillary on the same ticket!? :rofl Talk about knocking the props out from under Obama's campaign...!
Good one Yknurd. However, it might not be as far-fetched a notion as it appears at first glance. Given the bad-blood that's developed between she and Obama (Does anyone take seriously the pleasant pleasantries she voiced about him the other night?) Hillary might seriously consider an offer from McCain.
Nah...she's a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat. The earth would crack if she did...

Ok, is he black? is he half black? is he half white? is he mixed race? african? Is he racist? he refers to his white grandmother as a "typical white person" sounds racist to me........his mother is white, yet he claims to be black...or does he?
what the hell is barack obama after all is said and done?
When he talks to black people he is as black as they come...he even jives....when he is talking to white people he gets straight and clean pronouncing his words with crisp calrity.......I think he is a disingenuine man at best....a deceptive racist at worst.

I'm curious ,what presence do you have in Vietnam ?
...or in Finland for that matter...
-
straffo.. a better question would be.. what interest did we have in vietnam in the 60's? I think it was to stop communism from spreading. To bankrupt our enemies. I think that in that respect.. we got what we needed to get out of that war.

hmmm was he speaking of the past or the present ?

what the hell is barack obama after all is said and done?
after all is said and done, he is nothing more than a good salesman. he's convincing people that he'll solve all of our woes. he tells the black contingent that he's black. he tells the white contingent that he's half white.
i think it's be very safe to say, that he also is a racist in the worst form. he's too good at making hour long speeches and saying absolutley nothing for the entire time. yet it seems he gets the audience hyped up. i think i may be for the first time in my life embarrassed about my country. and here last weekend i was on a high at the air show bragging to my german friend how we are the THE best place in the world. now we're gonna get a muslim president? i truely am scared now, unless i'm missing something. unfortunatly, i think i'm not.

I find something rather amusing about these two statements together in the same diatribe.
And as another point of order, it's not like Dubya's speeches have been all that full of substance, either.
Black, white, Republican or Democrat, he's a POLITICIAN. Regardless of party affilation they're ALL cut from the exact same mold: each and every one of them will say whatever sounds good to get them elected. There's not a shred of integrity to any of them.

i agree with ya fully with them saying whatever they have to say. it's that when i hear his speeches, i hear the same thing repeated over and over for an hour(if i can take it that long). i agreee about dubya too. his speeches are pretty much useless.
i know about politicians saying what they tink the people want to hear. that was expressed in the ""he tells black people he's black, and white people he's 1/2 white"" they all do it. the general population has almost become nothing more than sheep. they believe anything/everything they see or hear on tv. if dubya said binladen was in iran right now, i'd bet there'd be a scary number of people thatd believe him.
ayway, i was only expressing my views. IF i vote this year, i'll not vote for the muslim or hillary...........

I'm still hoping Alec Baldwin lives up to his promise.

A lot of the comments remind me of the Bush/Kerry runup, the democrats and liberals on these boards were absolutely convinced Bush was done and Kerry would easily beat him.
Shows how much the typical board participant knows or can predict. But, I had it right then, and I am pretty sure I have it right now.
Those who "I am gonna bookmark this" were probably among those convinced Kerry would beat Bush. :lol

yes.. politicians rarely say anything of substance because... they simply don't want to be held accountable for what they have said later.
The best way to see what they are about is to see what they have done. To listen to interviews where hard questions are asked. McCain willingly gave an interview to the "Rifleman" (NRA) and clearly spelled out how he felt.
the half white guy has a proven record of being the most liberal socialist candidate we have ever seen get the nomination for the democrats (and that is saying a lot) He is a proven member of a racist church and has blurted out that all that stands in his way is a bunch of mean spirited white guys who cling to their guns and religion... no room for that stuff in the brave new socialist world.
What osama is about is quite clear. It matters not what he says.. just what he does.

Actually I was very impressed with McCain's interview with the NRA - they asked him very exacting questions, and he answered completely straightforwardly. There were no long winded BS answers, no rhetoric, and no dancing around issues.
It was so refreshing to see a politician be up front like that - what an absolute contrast to Obama (who is the biggest bullpoopting shuck'n'jive windbag huckster I've ever seen step behind a lectern).
If the two ever debate, I really think McCain will skewer him.
Of course, that may not be enough to reach the American Idol Generation who see him as the Second Coming of The Jesus.

slamfire.. exactly.. he answered the tough questions in a very straightforward manner. I too think that McCain will slaughter osama husien in any debates.
Even the democrats know that.. osama doesn't think well on his feet and he has a very limited grasp of the world and policy in general and very little experience. he will get stomped.. he is already trying to think of ways to get out of the town hall debates that McCain suckered him into.
