As usual we were up looking for the biggest dar bar tonite. Typically if you showed any resistance the horde moved.
On this occasion I got up early when another large dar bar showed up. As I headed out with Stogey trailing me out, we saw the mob.
At that point it was about a 2 vs 30, but what the heck, planes are free so in we go twisting and turning in the mass. Stogey starts laughing and comments that all you have to do is pull the trigger and you hit something.
They are not happy with us and the fight goes on for a bit, twisting and turning on the deck trying to avoid the horde. Slowly they are knocking pieces off and finally an engine and then the elevators. I'm so low and slow at this point that I hit the water and don't blow up, ending up with the ditch instead. 38G kill denied!
My comment on 200 was it was just sad that 25 190s couldn't kill 1 P38G. I'd like to apologize for that comment. After reviewing the film, I discovered it was only 23 190s. I'm sorry for exaggerating :)

They sure showed you who's the boss.
-
AHHHH HAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!
I see at least 1 F4U and maybe a P38 mixed in with all them 190s!!!!
So NEENER NEENER :P :P :P :lol
-
I find it's better to attack 100 planes than 5, cause if it's 100 they'll have the lazy gang mentality.. they'll be like "eh, someone else will take care of him" then after killing 99 of them the last guy will get pissed off and kill you.. true story!! :noid :devil
-
Garbage arenas.
-
bwahahahahaha and all those heros are probably proud too!!! wtg dan
-
the nice thing about fighting that many is, the odds are good that someone will killshoot themselves and therefore giving you a free kill.
Could happen

i find it's better to attack 100 rather than 5 because i just die much more quickly, thusly ending the agony more quickly too :aok :rofl

Great job, Guppy. Any movie to show? I'm sure that'd be entertaining! :)
-
I found that same forde last night. I was in a 190A8 about 8k above them. I managed to kill 2 and wound 7 or 8 before running low on gas and ammo and RTBing. I was thinking that i need to make a T-Shirt that says "I Survived the Horde". :rock

LOL that is Awesome Dan :rock :salute

The funniest thing is that one of them is probably posting in this very thread acting like it wasn't him.
-
One of your better landings at that Guppy! :t
-
I was going to say Alliance but they're bishops... probably a GHI mission?
-
I was sitting on that poor CV you see there at the time... It was sunk by cannon and mg fire in about 30 seconds.. :lol
-
had to have been a mission.. there was only one Spit and not a Niki in site..
-
No doubt it was a "mishun'. It just cracks me up that such a 'mishun' can even be fun for someone.
More power to em I guess, but I'd be bored stiff hiding in a crowd like that.
On the other hand I was laughing quite hard during my moments in the swarm.

Well, with this post :

. . . it seems obvious it was a 190A8 mission with the heavy cannon package (perhaps ord was down?) whose purpose was to take down the CV -- and they succeeded.
Well, good for them.
This also means that Dan was not their primary concern, so I am not sure why the chest-thumping. You were a nuisance, not a focus.

I don't think their objective was engaging in air to air targets. Mainly was just ground pounding. With 23 people there wouldn't be any air plane to kill most the time.

comments like "i was laughing so hard i just had to post em" typically mean "i got really pissed off they wouldnt play my way so im gonna try to insult them by saying i was laughing at them"....
the mission you have posted about were actually 50 190-a8s and i joined it just for the fun of flying in that large a number of fws...numbers were even and that mission rolled 5 bases one after the other with no resistance...there were 2 dar bars of nits attacking a more southern bish base....not sure why low 190s were not an appealing group to oppose....
i guess to some folks organization is "hording" and disorganization or an inability to get folks to respond to pleas for assistance get labelled as "the way it should be'
whats particularly hypocritical about guppy's post is that when s.a.p.p. sends 30 p38s en masse and gang bounce everything on the way...it is cool....i guess its not as fun when you have it come back the other way...
seriously dan...lighten up...this post and responses seem beneath you...this thread is a whine and poor attempt to bash other guys having Titanic Fun on Titanic Tuesday....and YES it was a hell of a lot of FUN...
try this...you play your way and they can play their way...i guess wrecking cartoon planes and posting them incessantly may not be what the majority of folks who play the game see as a goal...they may prefer mastering them and keeping them intact...unless they just need a bunch of attention.... :uhoh

Yea,it was a blast.Titanic Tuesdays gets very boring sometimes,so I decided to set up some missions with 190's to see what they could do..And they can do alot.. ;)
circling above a CV with 40 or so 190A8's like vulchers waiting for the kill, then saying GO..Is truly an awesome sight.. :aok

I usually don't post on threads like this one but can't resist.. I saw that horde coming in and was just gonna auger to get it over quickly. Dan came up and we waded into it. Yes we were laughing the entire time.. not to be insulting at all, it was just so absurd!
numbers were even and that mission rolled 5 bases one after the other with no resistance
Nothing to say about no resistance ;) It's been said before.

When S.A.P.P. sends 30 p38's en masse they announce they are coming. They arn't looking to roll bases even if they could.. they are looking for a fight.

That is just too funny. Dan is about as unserious (is that a word?) and light hearted as anyone you will find in this game to suggest otherwise is hilarious :lol I think it may be you that needs to lighten up.

Couldn't care less what you were or weren't doing....but when you post it im assuming there is a point behind the post...i laugh all the time playing this game...i just dont find the need to post about it. If you are correct and i am wrong then the other natural conclusion is that guppy wants to see large unopposed missions roll in...
When S.A.P.P. sends 30 p38's en masse they announce they are coming. They arn't looking to roll bases even if they could.. they are looking for a fight.
I have been on plenty when sapp runs missions and they are not announced the majority of the time. And whether 30 fw 190s are trying to take a base or 30 p38s are light looking to furball...the "horde" analogy is the same. the difference is most wouldnt be hypocritical enough to try to say one is cool and the other is bogus.

you may want to reread this entire thread and then understand why i would choose to respond...I guess comments like "hiding in the crowd" and "mishun" are jovial banter to you....i have no personal beef with dan...but the tone of his posts are clear and you may need to take off your homer hat to understand

You seem a little thentative.
I believe the word you are looking for is "thenthitive".
thenthitive: having acute mental or emotional thenthibility; aware of and rethponthive to the feelingth of otherth.
eathily pained, annoyed, etc. ; requiring tact or caution; delicate; touchy.

And you think Dan needs to lighten up? wtf dude :huh
Was gonna say the same. I think the point to this thread was to show how Dan doesn't care about dying, or saving his score in this game, and that he's just in it for the fun. Some of you guys just need to take a chill pill or quit AH completely.

im just taking a stab in the dark here...but due to limitations with reading comprehension and no ritalin your english SAT score was about 410?
also as you are a member of Wings of Terror...i dont think you have the ingame experience to recognize who does/doesn't care about dying and saving their score... :D (seriously can you lob the softball any slower?) :devil

you dont know me if you are seriously typing this...i just dont post pics of my exploits or insinuate there is a "right" or "wrong" way to play a multifaceted game... btw its very easy and rewarding to bust up missions...

LOL, come on Falc, you know how it works :)
I thought it was funny and didn't see the point of that many birds all hording. As I said, if that's whats fun for em, more power to em.
Huge difference for me Falc, and you know this as you've been there. When the SAPP guys go up with the 38s, we tell you were coming, what alt ,and aren't looking to roll the map. We always say we're coming long before we get there in hopes of getting a decent fight. There is nothing 'strategic' about it. You gotta remember that first time when you were convinced we were NOE and we told you we weren't and that we weren't after the base. You didn't want to believe it :)
If you had a good time in that 190 flight, I'm glad. That's what matters is having fun. You gotta admit it looked kinda silly from where my 38 was disintegrating :)

im sorry if defending my post against these goofballs seems like an attack on you..you and i have a good enough relationship that i knew you would understand my point without taking it personally....
i have nothing against sapp and im glad its a fun outlet for some folks...but just like your experience...whether its 30 fws or 30 p38s its hard to get alot of folks to up and oppose them...so the end result of a few being "horded" by many is the typical result...whether the goal is taking a base or furballing...the reuslting fight is the same.
i think the eny of the plane we were flying was 35 and we were at 2-3k tops...surely by the 2nd base there should have been some serious resistance...i dont think you can blame the bish mission planners for the nit response.

You know. I'm really getting tired of being stereotyped because of what squad I'm in. Just because a few people in my squad scorepotatos doesn't mean we all do. Me included. I don't care about my score as long as it's below 1000. If i DID care about my score, would I be turn fighting in doras and other 190s? Would I be intentionally flying into a hoarde? I think not. So just shut up, and go crawl in a hole for Christ's sake.

Was I flying Knit last night? :) The experience we were having last night was that anytime we did get there in time to resist, the crowd moved elsewhere. I'll be the first to admit, I don't get the base taking bit. I know it's part of the game, but one field looks the same as any other to me. Again if that's what folks want to do, more power to em. But I do think one of my concerns with Titanic Tuesday is it gets to be 30+ in a mission. You mentioned SAPP. I don't know that we've ever had more then a dozen on at any one time. Guys come and go as the night goes on, and that's once a month looking for a fight.
I don't blame the mission planners for anything. But maybe they can give a yell next time so we can give them more then a token fight before the VHs and FHs go down.
Either way I'm going to try and have fun, and if something silly happens, I might just post the screenshots, although it's usually easier to poke fun at myself and the 38 drivers :)
-
this makes me raff... :lol There is absolutely no conscience in the horde Dan, you know that
Some good tips for antihorde fun:
pick a field where a mission is leaving and dive under them and run to their own ack..watch the whole mission collapse on your 38 who;s gonna get acktized anyway.. (straffe the radar as this really incites them)
Up a pt boat at a spawn where they are taking off and enjoy the attention at the 30 cons who attempt to stop your pitiful boat from taking their base (also works good with osti)
Up and Il2 and at a "capped base" and collect 2 or 3 killz for every death as you lay lead into vulchers trying to Ho you taking off
get 4 squaddies and up buffs at a "capped" field and take off at opposite runways..gunners help...watch the the air cap completely disentegrate in about 30 seconds..(this is particularly effective because the scoreho's will immediately run when they see something shooting back)
theres a bunch more but this may relieve some horde stress...carry on
-
Charging a mission horde like that is hilarious, yes, but not quite so much as furballing with a bunch of 2-weekers and ending up getting chased by twenty-plus.
It happens to me a lot, oddly enough. The last time it happened, I was in a Spit XVI, and I had four kills racked up already. I was on the tail of another Spit XVI, when suddenly I see tracers flying past my cockpit. I look back, take note of his position, and do a hard right rudder and pull up with a slight bank to the left... And then, I noticed just how serious the situation really was. I was being chased by about ten La-7s, eight Spit XVIs, several Doras, and a few P-38s. I laughed. I got two more kills out of the group, and then I was caught from behind by about five Doras.
It was so sad, yet so funny.
-
so you see your outnumbered 15 to 1 and dive in anyway,
then make a thread about how lame it is that "it took 23 planes" to kill you..
:aok
-
I don't care about my score as long as it's below 1000. So just shut up, and go crawl in a hole for Christ's sake.

Nice try, but you're still another pansie worried about his cartoon airplane stats. That's why you get made fun of. Been there, done that.

my point is i dont HAVE to scorepotato to get it there...

No, when we hold SAPP nights, we announce what area we are flying at and even mention what planes we are hunting for.
I also think you miss the gist of Dan's post, it was to show the absurdity of 20+ planes ganging one lone bandit.
ack-ack

DAMN ! if I was there yesterday at that time, and knew about that mission. I'd so took my La-7 or tempest buzz over and nail a few sitting duck 190s otd.

bwahahahahahahahahaha in the center of the flock as usual no doubt. when dan posted his piece I thought that his screen shot was reminiscint of a BoP mission but decided not to go there as it really is none of my business and it in no way affects me. I do however derive great comidic value from this post of yours and I thank you for posting it. don't go changing to try to please me. :rofl
-
I think Dan was laughing at the whole situation here. First it WAS pretty silly to be diving in on 30 planes with just one wingman. Second it WAS pretty silly that all those planes had such a hard time taking down only 2 P38... having all those cannons and all. Had it been and organised mission run properly, 4 planes would have been assigned to finish off the 2 38's and the rest would have continued on to the target of choice. Being the "horde" it truly was they ALL attacked with their cartoon pilots yelling "Mine, Mine, Mine" !! Which when you think about it is pretty funny too.
Falc, you seem a bit over sensitive to any one commenting on a large group of planes. The horde is what it is, and most missions are hordes. When you use brute force to accomplish you objective, you are leading a horde, plain and simple. When you break up that horde into elements and use strategy to complete your objectives then you are a mission planner. Your group likes to use brute force, more power to ya, its the way you like to play. Dan likes diving into a mess and laugh about the sillyness of the fight.

not all members of the wings of terror are score ho's. thats all i wanted to add

I was going to say Alliance but they're bishops... probably a GHI mission?
It was a falcon23 mission and he told me over 50 joined.
-
It was a falcon23 mission and he told me over 50 joined.
we (RT) have been doing quite a few "oddball" missions latley.. just for the fun of it, base caps are our forte but its fun to do something silly once in a while, especially when your have a well known CO like Falcon who can pull huge numbers for missions.
for example the other day we did a JU87 raid, the goal of the raid was pretty much to laugh at each other getting shot down and not much else. Half way to our target we get spotted as we knew we would, by a lone P38..
but things got a little crazy.. the 38 made his first a little slow and ended up under us. he immediatly had a huge gaggle of pissed off stukas after him and found himself peashootered to death..
but of course like any good stuka mission the mortality rate was almost 100%, i think 1 guy made it back (shiv) with 2 air to air victories... in a stuka.

I was in that mission with falcon23. As remember, we had just taken a base and decided to drop the CV. Don't know why you gotta diss the horde. It was a lot of fun seeing almost 50 190As dropping on a CV. How many time do you see that? :salute falcon23 great mission as yours always are.

No, when we hold SAPP nights, we announce what area we are flying at and even mention what planes we are hunting for.
I also think you miss the gist of Dan's post, it was to show the absurdity of 20+ planes ganging one lone bandit.
ack-ack
I can attest to this ... I then take note of how far away I can takeoff and avoid the gangtard ...weird flopping around... strange looking ...P38 (letter) BNZ... winging.... bastages...that always seem to jump me instead of all the other ijots ( insert wrag) that are flying around me....even when I pm guppy that wrag is in the 109...oooops... when wrag somehow seems to get targeted first.... there is still the 38 that doesn't listen to his squadie and jumps me too as i run like a dog.... oooops... extend away to get alt....
All good fun Guppy , ack-ack,,,et al....

Without getting defensive, perhaps you should reread Dan's post again.

I believe the word you are looking for is "thenthitive".
thenthitive: having acute mental or emotional thenthibility; aware of and rethponthive to the feelingth of otherth.
eathily pained, annoyed, etc. ; requiring tact or caution; delicate; touchy.

Thilly Gooth!
Fixed!
Off topic- the two best gameIDs no one has used yet are "haiwlip" and "lithp". Dibs on both.
