Title: Obama: what he tells us, what he tells them
Post by: Ripsnort on June 18, 2008, 12:27:57 PM
What Barack Obama tells us - (http://www.barackobama.com/issues/iraq/)

Quote
Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months.

What he tells them - (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/06/17/AR2008061702034.html)

Quote
Mr. Zebari said that in addition to promising a visit, Mr. Obama said that "if there would be a Democratic administration, it will not take any irresponsible, reckless, sudden decisions or action to endanger your gains, your achievements, your stability or security. Whatever decision he will reach will be made through close consultation with the Iraqi government and U.S. military commanders in the field."

I'm so confused....To summarize, he tells the voters of the United States that he will "...have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months." To the Iraqi Foreign Minister he states that any action he takes will be preceded by "...close consultation with the Iraqi government and U.S. military commanders in the field." So what happens if those consultations demonstrate that his promised withdrawal schedule is unworkable or unwise? Or will he simply forgo those discussions and execute his plan?

Rip,

You know all that matters is what happens in November. Everything else after that is secondary. That "stuff" will be handled in any manner he sees fit once he has the seat of power to work from. Until then he will say anything to insure he gets the votes.

Better start calling him a flip flopper now, cause the last thing we need in this Country is a President who is willing to change his mind based on the facts.

He's not a flip flopper, necessarily. What he is, necessarily, is a lying bag of scum. Being such is just a requirement to run for high office, and would be true of anybody in his position. Anybody with any soul or credability would have found something else to do with his/her career besides entering the world's biggest popularity contest.

Whoa! No one mentioned the FF word. But now that you mention it, I googled "Obama Flip Flops" and HOLY CHRIST....I wouldn't vote for this guy if it was for driving an ice cream truck in Harlem!

Question for Obama: Is the D.C. law prohibiting ownership of handguns consistent with an individual's right to bear arms?

Answer from Obama: As a general principle, I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can't constrain the exercise of that right, in the same way that we have a right to private property but local governments can establish zoning ordinances that determine how you can use it.

====

So the rights expressed in our Consitution can be subverted by state and local laws.  WTF is a federal Constitution good for Obama if state and local laws trumps it?  Screw this guy  :furious

Daffynition:  flip-flop;  Term often used to describe the tendency of a politician to make two diametrically opposed statements about the same subject, one of which is a lie.

MT.. I heard what he said to the Iraqi on NPR...

I have no problem with anyone who changes his mind based on new facts....

osamabama does not fit that description in this case...  lying scum bag is more apropo...  First, the facts need to have changed...  are you saying that now we belong their and it is a good idea to stay till we have stability even tho it was not a month ago?

Further..  are you simply saying that this new change of heart will be announced to the American people and osambama will tell everyone that he changed his mind and that the republicans and Bush are right?   That he just wanted to tell the iraqi first?

I think if you look up McCain flip fops you'll find the same type of garbage.  Pretty simple, either we can continue going downhill with the current administration, or we can change things up.  http://media.urbandictionary.com/image/large/moran-7512.jpg (http://media.urbandictionary.com/image/large/moran-7512.jpg)

What's with the Dem strategy of linking McCain and Bush? For 9 years they have hated each other, (2000 primary season) and McCain has been a thorn in his side from tax cuts to campaign finance reform to judges to....well you get it. Aside from the fact they both have an "R" by their names and they want a bunch of illiterate 3rd world people to move here and mooch off taxpayers, I see no similarities
