my friend plays halo3 and is hooked up to the major league gamers circuit. he told me that he and his team (squad) could join a tournament sponsered by MLG and could win up to 40 grand a piece. they have these tournaments for a bunch of different games.
i was wondering why aceshigh is not in it. it might be a better way to promote the game. but that would be cool for a online game like this for a person to be able to win some money based on your flying skills as a team.
i dont really know much about it. but my friend told me that people make a living winning tournaments playing this game.
just a thought it would be cool if your squad could join a tournament and that squad wins some money.
what do yall think?

Love the idea..
-
Anything is better when your winning money :devil
-
Would never work... the attitude of Aces High players is completely different from those who play FPS's.
-
Effort due to a love of money seems a far stretch from effort due to a love of the game.
-
I have a better idea. Everyone just send me 5 bucks.....thank you :salute
-
Instead of money they should be awarded life membership at http://www.funbrain.com/spell/
-
Won't ever work with AH as they don't have enough subscribers (at the moment) to facilitate the Global interest to offer that kind of prizemoney...
also AH2 is not as "fast paced" as these FPS Games.
-
I am apart of MLG....or atleast their online cercuit "Game Battles" and most of the games at MLG events are very fast paced AH2 isnt that fast pace....unless its FFA then it is.
-
won't ever happen as long as Cmustard plays
-
This is some game play of two major Halo 3 teams.
Part 1

Part 2

The people you hear screaming is the communication between the team mates.....
enjoy

Anyone that has played FPS's competively at LANs or in online leagues knows this is very true. The mentality of the community isn't the type. I played FPS games in online leagues for years and was a CAL admin for a few (www.caleague.com).

sounds cool, but in the long run it would serve no other purpose than to take the fun out of the game
-
Don't mean to sound harsh but it's a rather stupid idea. You haven't been around long enough to remember how the game was 5+ years ago, when the game play was actually really good. You could find good fights, squadrons would regularly rotate to help even out the sides and the skies were full of good sticks.
The day this appeared on the AH main page is the day the game play started to go down the tubes.
Sign-up for Aces High now and compete for cash prizes in the Aces High Championship Shootout! Every month through March, the top 15 pilots are awarded cash prizes and qualify to compete in the Championship Shootout for the Cash Grand Prize! Visit www.flyaceshigh.com for complete contest rules.
The game unfortunately hasn't been the same since.

I do not care if they ever offer cash prizes. I am a late comer to this game but I am so glad I found it. I think if they do offer cash prizes people will get really excited about HO's and the like. It will take all the fun out of the game. IMHO. :O

Could you imagine the chatter on 200? :O
-
omg 200 wouldnt be a mess....

you think there's hoing now, put some money up for grabs and see what happens. :t
-
just dodge the HO or better yet they would have officials there watching for HOs. it would be like a tournament lan play id imagine. i just think it would be better if more people new about the game.
idk it was just an idea. but it would be cool if your sqaud could get really good and fight other squads in planes or tanks. id love a tournament like that.

I go back far as Doom / Quake on Lan playing for money in tournaments, anyone played Quake 2 in 1998 probably ran into planetquake and the "Bastard Beatdown" Lan events - I was a member of PlanetQ Allstar team played in BB21-31 for various money and prizes.
I did Counterstrike after that competitive in CPL events - honestly the work I put into it only goes like a job - if you have the talent and the time its worth to persue but I don't believe in years I played it was worth it. Its nice to win $40,000 at 16 but in a team event split 5 ways you arn't making it a living at it. Yeah tournaments today offer huge prizes, $3 million for a team to win an event, split 5 ways you can make the bucks if you are JUST that good. Honestly if you want to gamble a squad "duel" over paypal I can see it setup once or twice but far as Aces High going to a CPL event I don't think so.
-
A Fellow CPL Cs'er nice Adonai I went to a couple of CPL Events also :)
-

Do you really think HTC wants to pay =Wings of Terror= that much money?
-
I will set it up and everyone dump some cash into a paypal account and then lets have a winner take all type squadron event.
Entry fee could be $50 per squadron (8 pilot maximum) and you have to be able to do it all though. Not just fighter vs fighter; you would need to be able to hit within a target circle in fighter bombers, level bombers from 30k, escort bombers through enemy to have them hit the target, loaded F4U-1D's off a carrier (no rear roll), torpedo attacks, etc...
I think you might be on to something but it has to be done right. Since I don't fly at all anymore I will resub just to be a promoter of sorts. So $50 per squadron and winner take all. On the 8 pilot maximum I don't care if you have 200 people in your squadron you bring your best 8 to the dance. Don't just bring your best 8 fighter jocks you need to make sure that you spread the love and be ready to roll all at once. I actually have this written out in a document I wrote up called the "Battle E Competition" a while back. I took some stuff from the old VMF-323 "Deathrattlers" internal squadron competition and added some things for VF-17 when I was running that to begin some inter-squadron competitions based on the Air Force event that they do called "William Tell" and the "Red Flag" exercise.

Will there be a VIP Lounge? If so, I am in <forget about the prize money>

You can say that again for both emphasis and truth.

What was your cs nickname ?
I have pld against teams like 4k, SK, aAa on LAN although I'm talkin back years ago.......4-5 years ago...
-
I cant think of a better way to ruin the game. 200 is bad enough now without adding those types to the mix.

Exactly.
It's already Quake like enough without tournaments. Bad enough seeing the top score potato each tour on the front page, stick them at the back of the website where they belong. Unfortunate that the worst aspect of the game is the first impression that visitors and newbies see.
