The game name is "Aces High 3" and the password is "2weeks".
Here are the rules of the game (which can change if people want it to): No resetting portfolios, and no private portfolios. Late Joiners, Limit Orders, Margins (2:1), Selling Short, and Stop Orders are all allowed. $9.95 commission per trade, 0% saving interest rate, 6% Debt interest rate, $0.10 minimum share price, and $100,000 starting cash.
The Game opens on 6/30 with the opening of the markets, and finishes August 2nd.
Good luck! Start up the mind games and psyche outs immediately!

I'm in! :aok
-
Didn't get in on it last year, maybe beginner's luck this time? :)
-
Note: the game name is "AcesHigh3" (no spaces) ;)
oh...I'm in!
-
In, going to try and reverse last years suckage.
-
i'm in.
-
You guys doing that well ought to be playing stocks for real.
-
I'm in. Oil all the way.
-
Corn -- eat it, drink it, drive it.

I'm in.

I suggest everyone of you invest in the RV industry. It's really doing swimmingly!

Is that swimming like an Olympic athlete or swimming like a stone?
-
Remember Joe Frazier in the old "Superstars" competition?
-
Looks like time to put Cramer back on the DVR. :rock
-
Viagra, Enzyte and Cialias stocks are all looking up and growing rapidly.
Gonna be some stiff competition.

10 in so far! Who will be the next Apprentice? Trading in virtual money.

I was 4th last time and you were.....um 16th or so?
;)
-
You're just lucky I have to be at work before the markets close, Mac. ;)
-
I was 4th last time and you were.....um 16th or so?
;)
I blame it entirely on Comcast. It rose to an all time high, and I decided to ride it out for the remaining 3 days. The day after that it dropped 10 points.
I had you beat. All I had to do was sell. But I didn't :uhoh
-
Game starts tomorrow.. BooYah!
-
Good luck...I know I will hit it big in the early stages and drop like the USD in the later days.
-
You're going down!
Or more likely, I'll panic at the slightest drop in increase rate...
First trade in, will go through at the opening of the market.
-
It sez "Sorry Game ID couldn't be found."
It's Aces High 3 right?
-
"AcesHigh3" No spaces. My mistake for not getting that clear in the first post.
-
Got it... I'm in and Game On!!!

-
This is going to drive me crazy. This game has become suddenly so much more sensitive. I'm sitting here watching the minute fluctuations of my stock go up and down, making me earn and lose roughly 250 dollars minute to minute.
-
The last game drove me to insanity...I don't believe I'm playing again.
:furious
-
Donzo, once again, has shown how capable he actually is.
-
Look at oil go. Go oil go! What am I saying?!?
aka Ironious
-
I came ever so close to buying Devon as an opening stock, but backed off. It jumped $5 a share today. :cry
-
LOL Midnight.. Gotta love the otcbb eh? :lol
Nice pick!
-
Golly-geenit Dell! I put a limit buy order at 22.00 thinking you were just going to barely bottom out there. Of course, at the last minute it went down another 11 cents.
Now that I'm looking at the Year Long chart, it might have been a bad idea. However if I only analyze the monthly chart, it's looking like a good idea.
-
Donzo, once again, has shown how capable he actually is.
I wouldn't go THAT far. Today sucked!
Nice first day MT.
-
For a moment there Dell, I thought you had redeemed yourself. But instead I'm going to dump you. You're too volatile for me to rest my luck on.
-
MT has lost most of what he had gained. If only he had sold... There's only 3/10 who have made money so far.
-
XOM took a tumble. I put all my money there. Here's to hoping I finish dead last. :D
-
I did what I thought I needed to do and got signed up.
Picked some stocks last night that did pretty well.
I was up 690 at the bell.
I look again and it only took the trade I made today...all the other trades are on another page and didn't count :O
What did I do wrong? Ideas?
EDIT PS>>> YIKES, I have 2 different portfolios! A personal one & a game one. How do I get my personal stocks on my game portfolio and ditch the personal one?
EDIT>>EDIT>>>I think I have it figured out. Kept Aces High 3 portfolio and transfered my holdings from today to the new one for buys tomorrow. Personal portfolio deleted.
Can we have one outside the game? Is that a no-no?
EDIT>>>EDIT>>>NVM, I keep answereing my own questions. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. :salute

Tomorrow's buys should be very interesting. Going long on most.
Just stocks, no commodities? No gold?
Sorry...rookie year questions.
I am SHOCKED at how many went with satallite radio & companies that make SUV's! They can't give those away!

To be honest, twice I bought Comcast at a low of 22.60 or so, and twice it rose giving me $1,000+. I may just keep buying and selling Comcast itself unless I see something I HAVE to buy.
Is "SkuzzyMeister" actually skuzzy? Just curious (if we're all going to get PNG'ed if he loses).
-
Comcast might end up being a good pick. Cable subscribers tend to be loyal, so do cell phone companies as long as there are few problems.
Some folks will  at my picks for tomorrow...everything from defense contractors to casinos. :D
I think the market (bear) is very different over this time last year. Either I'm going to hit it big or be living under a virtual bridge abuttment by next week.

I think Donzo is purposefully tanking.
Anyway, on Friday I will delete those players from the game who have not made any trades. They'll definitely be welcome to rejoin, however it just makes the rankings easier to see if we keep out the people who have done nothing.

Just because gas prices are increasing doesnt mean the companies will be making more money long term.. If the oil companies stock is going south right now, I would guess people are either speculating a sharp drop in demand, just following the market, or a oil bubble is about to burst at these levels.. Who knows though..

Looks like most of us took it in the shorts today.
I'm unloading the dogs with fleas tomorrow.
My tip, go short on BBI (Blockbuster).
Forget the casino--I'm going inot healthcare/pharm stocks.

I'm actually not that worried. I'm only down 20 cents from purchase price. Tomorrow will rebound.
However, sell by noon, 1:00 at the latest.

I've cleared out the 3 people who haven't traded. They are definitely invited to join again. It's just that it's not fair to keep them relatively high in the rankings against people who have actually made an effort to make money.
-
Did the oil bubble just pop? :O
-
Well since I started loosing money right away. I think I am going to play the game of Brusters Millions and try and loose all my money in 30 days :rock

The website we're doing it on is completely Bob Smith.
All the loading glitches, "can't show" glitches, slow loading glitches....if this website were the real deal they would be sued three ways from Sunday and would have been shut down.
The market has been open for an hour and 2 of my trades still haven't gone through. I have already lost $86 on one stock alone because of it.
The website is a joke.

Just a few suggestions for your next game... Why have $9.95 trades when you could pretend you were using Choice Trade.. ( my real life broker) they offer $5.00 trades even on pennies which is why I use them but they are a very good broker. Which brings me to my other suggestion.. Why limit @ 0.10 on the trades? If you are playing with $100k surely $5k could be set aside for the sub $.10 cent stocks.
-
It was just what I set it at. I can change it if you want. What should I set the lower limit at?
(The price per trade can't be changed)
-
You guys with the penny anty stocks are crazy! Have you checked the 3/6 month and 1 year charts on those? They are a rollercoaster to H-E-double-hockey-sticks. They go for 10 cents to nothing in a heart beat.
I gave up on most of my energy stocks and went with pharmiceuticals. APPX is up 32% this morning alone. Everytime I go to the pharmacy to get the 3,400 meds my doc has me on it reminds me that those $2 a pill companies are making a killing.
400 of APPX short (day trade) will make you a few bucks.
IBM is looking good today as well.
Price of oil is dropping.

Well with the pennies it's more about momentum trading and no investments or long term. Charts are useless with them but I always messed with the ones in the .0009 to .0001 range. No other stocks can you double your money faster but it does come at a much higher risk, hence the reason I'd never put more than $5k in that market at a time with that money spread out across several of them. (my personal rule of thumb is to never put more than $500 in a penny stock)
-
So do you want me to lower the limit or not?
-
BTW: That virtual stock site is WAY TOO BLEEPING SLOW to buy/sell order. I'm taking it in the shorts on some holdings because it can take up to 2 hours to make a transaction.
This is making me wonder what I could do on the real deal with real up to the minute quotes and buy/sell in 20 minutes or less.
It's a bear market and some of us are doing ok, considering.
ROX
-
Yeah the time lag is tough. Is there a way to view pending trades?
-
Click on My Portfolio, then on orders. Orders is 2 over from holdings. Each order will show Complete, Cancelled, Expired, Pending, or Cancel Pending. Transactions (next to orders) only shows which orders actually went through.
No limits set on purchasing values now.

I signed up but haven't made a trade yet, but in real world, your trades don't always go through if you are selling at market price. Sometimes they take time for your turn to come up, maybe that's what the lag time in meant to replicate?
-
So do you want me to lower the limit or not?
na no reason to change it being it's already started.. Might be fun to do a penny trade game one time though.
I haven't decided how I want to trade, this is just a month long game right?
-
28 days or so left. Should say when you click on My Portfolio.
And it's already changed.
-
YIKES!
After a big gain in the morning APPX is takin' it in the shorts!! :O :O
ROX
-
Ok I do see the lag time.. with this. I decided to go with a small gains day trade mentality and want to average $500 gain per day. I've tossed up two stocks at prices under the current market value but there is still a lag in the sales. I mean if the stock hit say 12.10 and I had a stop limit set @ 12.05 mine should have sold.
My guess is this must have at least a 15 to 20 min delay from real market stats.
-
I cashed out of my stocks just b4 the bell rang with a profit of $699.80 starting my first day in the game $200 over my daily target figure. I only used around $75k not the total $100 investing around $22k to $25k in each stock.
Stocks bought and sold..
Bought 2,000 NVDA (Nvidia) @ $12.00 sold at $12.06 (should have held out because it went to $12.20+)
Bought 975 MSFT (Microsoft) @ $25.58 and sold @ $26.00
Bought 5,000 F (Ford) @ $4.47 and sold @ $4.52

Was there sufficient volume? If there is not enough volume traded the transaction will not go through. Once the volume is sufficient the trade will take place.

Does it really do that? That's kind of cool if it does.
I was wondering if they took real volume into account as well. I just read through the FAQ and there isn't much info about that, but I did see this:
Market Open Orders
All Market Open orders placed before the opening bell (9:30 a.m. EST) will be executed, based on the opening price, at or around 9:50 a.m. assuming there is sufficient Market Volume for the order. If there is insufficient volume for the order to be executed or an opening price has yet to be established (i.e. there is zero volume), we will attempt to complete the order every 20 minutes until the market closes. If the stock does not generate sufficient trading volume by the closing bell, the order will expire. Also, we will partially fill orders whenever possible (the remaining un-purchased shares will NOT be filled at a later time for Market Open orders).
So with that, it seems volume is taken into consideration but IMO there is no real way to be able to tell if your stocks would have sold in real life. IMHO I think the stock should have to move in price above your limit price and have enough volume. That way it would be a bit more accurate. I know when I was doing penny stocks it was amazing how much could be sold with out my orders going through.
The MM's always had to make their money first then you got your shot, once they had theirs...
-
Man VLO was killin me. I finally dumped it after I lost $3 a share. Anybody seen a window I can jump out of?
-
See...you are talking like 20 minutes. I can understand 20 minutes, the site says that's about right. Sounds fair.
I put in a sell order for APPX and it took almost 2 hours to execute--in the mean time I lost an additional $86 bucks.
BTW: lasersailor, you are one cool dude in my book :aok
This idea is fantastic. I looked in last year and passed on it. This year I am doing 2-3 hours a day on research and the MarketWatch site is AWESOME! Yes, I am -$2000 so far, but I have learned an immense amount about this. I'm going to practice on VSM for about a year, and then go live. I already set up a Scottrade.com account.
Anyone interrested in a long term VSM "game" let me know, and we can get one set up after the Aces High game ends.
Lasersailor--great job being the overseer! :salute

It's odd..
energy stocks = bad
tech stocks = bad
investment houses = bad
I went back to old BIG BLUE (IBM) and it saved my backside today, offsetting a big chunk of my tech losses.
I'm dumping most of my IBM at the opening bell tomorrow and going back with pharmaceuticals & communications.
I think this really helps to learn this in a bad bear market! It shold make doing it in a bear market that much easier.
Some guys who went long with energy/oil are now getting their nads racked.
And for those horrified at the number of trades I make...don't freak. I do quite a few day-only orders. If they are in the tank before noon, I dump 'em and cut my losses. If they pop bigtime before noon, I sell and pocket the cash.
Considering some folks have lost $12,000 so far--I don't feel so bad about my $2,000+ loss.
BTW: Good Luck to all in the VSM game.

Well did the stock hold at the price you tried to sell it at, did it go back down or higher? I never played any day trades on the big market because I never had the investment money for that kind of trading. I did do it with penny stocks, and I can tell you orders don't get filled or sold right away unless there is a lot of volume.
For every seller there has to be a buyer, just because you decide to sell doesn't mean there will be a buyer at that price and even if there is you have to wait in line for your turn. That's why I was saying the only way to make this realistic is if the stock price had to move 1 point above your selling price and have enough volume. In theory if the price moves over your stop limit your stock should sell. On the flip side if it tops out at the same price you have your stop limit set at then it's no guarantee the stock will sell. It works the same way on the buy side.
The 20 min delay for free charts is due to some rule from the NYSE, I build websites and back when I was doing active trading I was going to build a stock news site. I checked into a few of the chart providers to get a pricing on news update and chart feeds and they were all delayed by 15 mins because of the rule. Only way you could get live feeds was if you paid a subscription (I think $5 of it went directly to the NYSE).
Also good job on finding this game lasersailor it's funny because I hadn't logged into my real account in a very long time, now I already have the bug going again after one day.. :uhoh
I lost a bunch with penny's and just tossed all my money in oil in 06 and didn't even touch my account after that.. hehe but hey that worked out well, just wish I would have had more in there. :lol

I got screwed over today with this buying lag BS.. I wanted to play Nvidia like I did yesterday and do a quick flip. So I put an order in but it wasn't filling so I cancled it and did another order.. Same thing happened again, so I did another order.
Then WTF happens? The dumb aruse game fills all 3 orders even though I cancelled the first 2. Then of course as luck would have it, some wall street tard writes a bad article about them leaving me high and dry for today... :furious

I didn't actually buy double. I put in an order for 300,000 at a seemingly high limit. I cancelled the order and put in one for 100,000 at a touch lower limit.
The first order apparently wasn't canceled quickly enough.

Yea that's what I'm talking about.. I did the same on the buying I put a order in and then decided to change it right away. So I cancelled out the first and it still bought it plus the new order. Just seems like they should have some sort of warning letting you know the cancelled order actually went through. With the 20 min delay it's hard know what it's going to do.
-
I think the cancel orders go through the same 20 min wait period. In other words the cancellation is not immediate, rather, it will be executed 20 mins after you place it.

Those penny stocks are a PITA!!!!
The game website rounds everything to 2 decimal places so you have to calculate what price you actually purchased the stock at.
-
Jeebus I can't have any luck the last two days.. I actually made some good buy and sells both yesterday and today but freaking Yahoo is killing me. It was on a steady rise yesterday so I bought in, then like 30 mins after I buy a news article of nothing more than "rumors" tanks it by like 40 cents.
So I watch it today and it seems to stabilize and has a up trend again. So I buy on a low dip to average out my price so I can get out with a profit at a lower price.. So what happens? Another "Rumor" article that has no real substance makes the stock tank another 20 cents. Despite Yahoo releasing press releases on two very good advertising deals today. Does the market react to the "real" deals that will actually make them money? Hell no it's reacts on rumor articles about CEO's in a bar.. I'm mean WTF no wonder oil prices are sky high these wall st tards are worse than house wives.
-

Well the problem with those penny stocks is with the amount of money we are dealing with I don't think you would ever get out of one spending 100k on them. It would take you a day or two to buy 100k of sub .0XX stock much less trying to get out of it. I didn't realise how this game worked when I suggested to add the ability to buy them, but IRL you guys wouldn't have been able to make those deals.
-
Well, we believe it works this way.
You can buy them whenever, for how ever many you want. However, when you put in the sell order, it waits for that volume of sales to clear. So Waffle's a little bit screwed here (I think).
When he turns to sell, he's gotta wait 3-4 days (on my estimation) for 6.5 million shares to sell in the real world. He could be selling on an Upswing. But by the time it goes through, it might have dropped.

Well the problem is even when buying with penny stocks, buying that kind of volume would be enough to drive the price up on it's own. You wouldn't get a 100k worth of some .009 stock wih out driving the price up. Same with selling it, you would never sell that much with out driving the price down unless it was on some major up move.

Man FNM was the play of the day... I saw it this moring down at the high $6 mark. I came so close to buying it IRL but I wasn't sure what was up so I watched now it's back up around $10.
As for this game I'm riding the sinking ship that is called bahoooooooooooooooooo.

Was almost down and out when I decided to take the loss and sell yhoo at a $15k loss. Luckly another risky move put me back in the green with a $19k gain from FRE. :)
I was so tempted to toss in the full 200k too but I only bought $100k worth. oh well :noid

well hells bells.. I did another quick buy and sell of MSFT and made $1k but now all my normal stocks are up today. Can't find anything to buy that's not at it's daily high. :cry

Well, I've given myself some personal trading rules that I'm following in this. I'm sticking to well known stocks and seeing what I can make just by doing day to day trading with small gains. So I don't want to do any short selling and only play with stocks in the $5 and up range. It was going ok until I got stuck in yhoo and it took two hard hits with bad news losing $3.
I was actually thinking of trying a side game based off this idea, of starting with $3k and using the 3% gains with 200 trades to $1 million.
-
Sounds easy until you realize that 3% gain is quite a bit of gain. Besides my accidental huge gain, I haven't been able to make more than 1% a day.
In 200 days (40 weeks) that means you'll have to be on top of every stock you buy, paying close attention to it. I think if you spread the goal out over a year it might be doable. Because if you force yourself to buy and sell every singe day you will pressure yourself into making a bad decision.
Then the tough question comes. Do you bail? Do you hang?
Even if it rises, when do you sell? Do you hang onto it til it does make 3%?

Well it was suggested on another forum to take your time with this method and do maybe 40 to 50 trades a year over 4 years. This way you can take your time and find a good picks so you are doing about 1 trade a week. I think if you take your time it's possible. I just see issues once you start getting into the big money. I wonder how on earth could you actually buy and sell that much stock with out affecting the price of it.

Yea I'm gonna have to say this game isn't very accurate at least not on fast moving stocks. I did two buys today on FRE because I saw it running.
I did a buy in real life with my real account and one in this game, granted I didn't buy as much IRL but still the prices were there to buy it.
IRL I put in a buy at market value because it was moving so fast. Got in @ 7.94 and was able to sell @ 9.10
In the game I put in a buy at the same time in the same method yet it filled @ 9.27 and I wasn't able to sell, because by the time it filled the stock was on the way back down. So now I'm screwed unless it goes on another good run in the next day or so..

I got a noobie question here. I'm not stock market savvy. Soooooo, how do you guys go about "picking" a stock? Eenie meanie miney moe? And second, I hope maybe there can be a winter contest as summer I am just too busy and cant watch anything as I farm for a living. And can a guy go to the contest here and see what you guys have chosen or is that private?
-
Everyone's trades are public. You can see who picked what. Trying to cherrypick someone else's stock usually doesn't work. By the time you see it making money you've missed the boat.
As for how you pick a stock, research. I found WaMu by looking at the closing report and the forcasted news for the next day. WaMu was set to announce they had a big wad of cash they could dump if needed. In an uncertain financial market, that's good news. Good news = rising stock.
Also, if you have cable, watch CNBC, Bloomberg or one of the other financial networks. They run 24/7 so you can tune in when you can and get the news.

Yea I can't get in either and this morning could have saved me from that bad FRE buy I had yesterday. I had it set to sell at a slight profit and the stock hit 9.49 this morning. I had bought more yesterday and had my price averaged down to $8.9. That was probably a $10k tp $15k gain that I missed because of it being down. :furious :furious :furious
edit.. it's back up and of course my GTG sell order didn't go because the game was down.

If you click on the stock's ticker name (like Comcast is CMCSA), you can see the information about it like daily high, daily low, start. You can also see the charts for 1 day, 5 days, 1 month...
I usually pick the same stocks to sell over and over based on where they are. After having watched it I can reasonably guess how low Comcast will go, and then rise to how much.
Using limit orders I can maximize profits from this.

Pretty crazy day today, with 3 trades I managed to make a tad over $30k from one stock and a 46% gain for the day. Makes you wonder how much some of these real day traders are making on a monthly and yearly basis. Just seems there are insane amounts of money to be made if you have the investment capital.

Na there is a limit to how much can be moved in and out of a stock with out affecting it's price. You would likely have to move into the big high priced funds to move that kind of money.
-
Oh I realize that, I was just speaking hypothetically.. $10M dumped into one stock will surely make it move but I wasnt necessairly saying that..
One thing I dont really like about these games is the ability to buy millions of shares of a company at a specific price, or the ability to buy more shares than daily volume should typically allow..

Well yea for the real low priced stocks I'd say that's a problem.. However the big board stocks seem to be fairly accurate because I've been checking the volume as I made my buys & sales to see if it would have been a legit real life transaction.
Take my sell @ 1:56PM today of 20k shares of FRE.
You can't get a accurate price of each share bought or sold by the charts because they average the two prices, but the volume from 1:54 was 137,502 and at 2:00 it was 286,043.. So that's a hell of a lot of shares bought and sold in that 6 mins,
so you have to assume they would have been able to sell 20k shares.
http://finance.aol.com/quotes/federal-home-loan-mortgage-corporation/fre/nys
If we had access to real time level 2's then we could see the exact amount of volume of each buy and sell and the exact price, but overall I think it's fairly accurate. The biggest issue is the 15 min lag time.

lol how quickly it comes and goes... I have been playing FRE on the bounces pretty good. Made another 30k yesterday that put me in 1st place for awhile (had $160k).. I bought on a dip again and then the bottom fell out.. had a loss of 70k at one point this morning..I'm only down 50k or so now.. :lol
It will come back in a day or two because the stock dipped from a high of 10.48 yesterday down to 7.00 today and there really wasn't any bad news to support the dip. Just typical hysteria trading once it dips a bit too far all the tards start panicking and selling.. That was the play of the day if I would have been on the other side of it.. :rofl
btw good thing this is a game or I'd be getting one hell of a margin call right about now.. :noid

Damn. The one time I didn't get unlucky and have the trade go through at the wrong time I went from a $4,000 net gain to $700 net gain.
While that's peanuts compared to what you people make off of the $0.0025 stocks, I think it was a pretty good mild risk trade.

Screw the .0025 trades.. all my trades have been on $5+ stocks (with the excepton of Ford). I decided not to do any trading on those .000's because it's not gonna be realistic in this game. I managed to get to 1st place for a very short time but I did it on big board only stocks.

Damn crockett, you were the one that planted the seed of lowering the minimum stock price in laser's head. He did it and now you are going play down trading the .000's and take the "high road" by only trading bid board stocks?

XOM has been following the cost of oil very closely. Oil goes up, XOM goes up and vice versa. Too bad our gas prices don't mirror oil prices.

Well up means higher than the close the day before.. Take FRE for example, it closed yesterday @ $9.7 at open today it was at $10.96 then had a high of $11.44 but as long as it closes above $9.7 it's considered up. If you buy at the high of the day then it's not nessesarely gonna be up for you but the stock it's self is up.

If we do this again, I suggest we look for a different stock market game. This one seems to crash far too much. This is the 3rd time I've been screwed over by the game crashing and not being able to sell while the stock I'm in takes a big run. It happened a few other times as well, but wasn't at times I needed to sell or buy but it seems to be a consistent problem.
btw still can't log in over a hour and a half after the market opened.. Who needs another $45k virtual money right.....
-
Yep I agree with crockett here. Last year I couldn't sell any stocks on this stuff.
-
Yep I agree with crockett here. Last year I couldn't sell any stocks on this stuff.
Well if the game is up I have no problems selling them as long as I'm at a price they would sell at, you just have to deal with the lag time.. What I'm talking about is the game is down and you can't log in. I wanted to sell my FRE that I bought @ 9.9. The stock was up to 11.40 this morning, I wanted to sell at anything above $11.. Would have been a $30k to 45k gain. In stead the game is crashed all morning and now it's dipped back below the price I bought it.. Which is a bunch of BS.
Granted it's just a game but that was a hell of a gain that I had planned on making because I knew the stock would jump with the news then drop back once people sold for their profits. I had planed to sell on the high and buy back at the dip which would have put me in the $100k profit range for the month. Now it's likely gonna dip into the low to mid 9's making me lose money and Im' not sure it will get back to $11 this week.
-
Well unless it makes some miracle run tomorrow or Monday which I doubght will happen, then I'm out of this game. Not worth the hassle of building back up from the losses when I should have been at a major gain today.
Had I been able to log in, I would have ended up with right about $195k in my account and been able to make more trades today... Instead I get screwed and I'm down $30k and end up with about a 130k and a 50k loss overall. What a bunch of bull cocky..
There has to be another site out there that doesnt have these down time issues that we can play on..
-
Crockett,
Did you put in a limit sell order? If you wanted to sell anything above $11 you should have put in a sell order yesterday with an $11 limit and change the type to "Untill I cancel". This would have insured that you sold when it went above $11 this morning without you having to login.
-
It would not have done anything since the site was down all morning and we couldn't log in to cancel. Last year I got in on some other stocks and was trying to dump them and the system never let the sell orders go through at all.
-

The game was crashed the first 3 hours after market opened, so it wouldn't have sold reguardless if there was a limit set or not. I couldn't sell when I needed to because I couldn't log in. Because of this I went from $190k range down to 120K at this point so it's not worth playing unless the stock has some great run tomorrow which I'm pretty certian it wont.

Sorry I haven't been trading myself.
Apparently if you're building a school, it's a rush to get it done before the school year begins. Who knew?
-
You're in 3rd place, why quit?
Well, I was in solid first place before I got screwed on that trade and I'm satisfied that all my trades would have been legit IRL. I would have been slightly over $100k profits for the month and would have been able to buy in at the low again for yet another run next week. I went from being down to almost last place with $85k last week, having a $15k loss to being at a 100% gain for the month on nothing but big board trades.
Doing that was hard to do, especially doing it in 6 trades. I did what I wanted to do so I'm happy with my performance, it would be nice to see how much I could do in a full month. However, I'm not going to start over $80k down from where I should be, specially when the loss wasn't my fault.
If I had made a bad trade and lost the money, then I'd eat the pie and carry on, but losing 80% of my gains because the game was down ticks me off. I mean seriously, check out the gains I had after my $15k loss, only to have it all taken away because their site was down.

ID = AHLonggame
PW = 2008AHLong
Same rules as last game except it goes until December 15th...AND....you get a sweet HALF MILLION to play with $$$$$$$.
Good Luck!

Good game all!
I was hoping that my spectacular fall from the top would result in a solid dead last finish....I was wrong ( :salute Waffle )

Yea I'm still ticked at getting screwed cause the game was down and getting locked in a falling stock. I pretty much didn't do anything the last two week of this, but had a hell of a run up to $195k piror to that. Maybe by the time the next game happens they will fix their servers.

That's 3AAHSMG Sig Material.
We'll probably start a different thread for the new long-term game.
I opened up a Scottrade Account, but definitel need more practice before trading there.

I might not be in the lead, but know this: I didn't lose money on a single trade.
And that is what I was going for.
Of course, I only really traded one stock, over and over.

If you haven't added any money yet, do your self a favor and check out www.choicetrade.com that's who I use. Scottrade charges I think $7 but can charge as mucvh as $10 on certian types of stocks, Choice Trade is $5 no matter what type of stock it is. Scottrade realy bends you over if you trade any pennies or pink sheets.
The othher thing is I've seen many people post about waiting a long time on the hold when contacting scottrade. With Choice Trade I've never waited more than 2 or 3 mins. In fact I just called them about 5 mins ago and was talking to someone about 30 seconds I picked my choice in their menu. In short their support is very good.
The only advantage to Scot Trade is they have local branches if you are close to one.

Sweet Laser :aok
Crockett, I won't put a dime into a stock in RL until I get FAR better at the cyber version.
I learned a lot of lessons (set the record for the lost trades) and started to idenify trends. Give me another few months on the extended game and we'll see if RL money gets gambled.
