Agreed,
Hammy outstanding work on the battle plan. I know it was your first time doing this. Your plan was well thought out, the orders were simple, effective, and to the point.
Well Done sir. In fact I'd like to thank all the 353rd for the communication this week concerning the orders. Much appreciated guys.<S>

Thanks
The work was equally shared by several in the 353rd, led by Jaxxon. :aok Nefarious was an excellent asset as well. Part of my duties was being the messanger which made it look like I was alone. Far from it. We had a great time and got a good education in the process.
Thanks again.

It was an quite an experience. I honestly never really thought I'd be asked to be a CiC for one of these things and I was apprehensive going into it. I think Hamblue and myself logged 12 hours on TS hammering out the details while Flatiron did leg work.
I'm not really clear on what happened with C78, we thought it was a CV. In the end the squads assigned to sink C79 completed the mission :rock
There were a couple of things I didn't know about like being able to control a carrier group as a CiC. When I found out I was able to it was too late and since I play the game as a pilot I didn't know how to do it anyway
It was very educational and I'm happy that at least some of you had a good time.
To Stoney74, it felt taking on the big guy in the school yard going up against you. :salute Good fight.

Well done guys. It is always a bit of pressure to CiC one of the FSO's. Glad it went well. :)

VMF-251 got flat-out overwhelmed while escorting Fate's heavy F6Fs. We opted to stay with the strike force while Damned proceeded with the orders as written due to the small size of the strike (only four TBMs from Skyknights, and Fate had maybe 8 F6Fs). The decision more or less paid off, as we ran into a LARGE group of enemy fighters (mixed Ki-61s and Ki-84s) right along the strike package's inbound route. The Bucs were able to hold them off long enough for Fate to get through to target, but we were outnumbered at least 2-3 to 1 with an equal starting altitude, so despite a hard fight we didn't last very long. We only got 6 for the loss of our ten Hellcats, but I'm confident had the numbers been more evenly matched or we had the positional advantage we'd have survived, even against the Ki-84s (I think all but one of our kills was a Frank).

The Muppets met a large group of hellcats above us on our way to patrol the south. They engaged playing their alt well. We were definitely struggling to keep everybody abreast of 6 calls and the likes but managed to get about 10 of them. We lost 4, one to ripped wings, lolz. The other 8 hellcats were staying high 6 trailing us. We needed to head a little more south so we were trying to make our way down there, but the hellcats kept coming in on us. So we duked it out with them and killed or rtb'd the lot of them. I think we got 15 total, but we lost the 4 squaddies. I disco's landing at the end of the frame..... :(
Great fun for all of us, and thanks for the effort of the planners. :salute

13th Mpg took off 16 zeke's from a15. Headed for rally point to meet up with other escorts and the friendly bombers. None of the escorts made it to the bombers before a batch of fm2's dove into the bombers. We painfully watched as the friendly bombers were attacked. Not very good when the entire escort group was behind the bombers. Wasnt cause we didnt try, we were going fast as we could. We wound up with seven kills and a couple of bad landings on dirt runways. Had alot of fun, thanks special events team for the event.. TUK151 :rock

The buffs did not read there orders to slow down for us to stay with them not our fault.. :salute

Would like to know why the bombers targeting 74 did not RALLY at the rally point.... :furious

All due respect there Hamblue but you mostly... ok not mostly but indeed cut and pasted the orders that Sim wrote for me the week before. A shout out to SIM might be nice :)
I am looking forward to your next CiC duty I know the Nightmares had a blast!

Well, it was a very enjoyable frame. Nef always sets up a good event. Nice job on your Rookie frame.
Thanks to the Axis squads. They were able to fight through the confusion caused by my delayed and error-filled orders.

Like to thank Stoney and the USMC 71 squad. for a good time in the frame 2 of the FSO.
We had a good time working with you both.

You guys did an excellent job with those Ki's Saxman! We just wepped it up and stayed level and they all just went right past us into your squad. We hit the target with no resistance and porked the field. Hoewever we neglected to set up a higher cap to defend on the returning Ki's and we paid the price for it. <S> to you and the rest of VMF-251! :salute

This seems to be a trend with Nef supplied objectives as of late.
The Allided side suffered for the same amount of "what are we doing tonight" syndrome.
The quality of the FSO event in the last few months has been subject. Scoring updates after the fact & set up issues seem to be dragging us down.
Is there a way short of brining Ghstdncr back that we can get some control back in the FSO?

our orders was messed up and wound up taking off from the wrong base. we flew to another carrier that was being attacked by 20+ bombers with about 15 to 20 escorts. our 8 FM2's put up a good fight. i got one kill and then got shot down chasing a ki67 NOE.

You should read your orders closely when you recieve them. If you have any questions ask the CIC before the FSO. If you don't review your orders with your squad, or review them until you're in the arena ready to fly you only have yourself to blame.

If you're talking about taking off from 80 we were mailed that it was a CV. Seems like everything worked out though. Looking forward to this week now.
-
Must have been some confusion there about 80, sorry about that. That was always supposed to be a Cruiser fleet, I must not of explained it right.
-
Actually in the objectives you identified it as a cruiser, but in one of the email answers it was referred to as a CV.
No biggie. Just a small speed bump that was handled. If there were none then it would be boring. :aok

Ahem, as many will remember. I have a tendency of mis-typing also and labeling things wrong. As you well know half the time I refer to west as east and so forth.
Writing objectives and design for an FSO is a very labor intensive and errors will creep in. Whether they are typos or over sites. I am no more free of this than any other Admin CM, which has been pointed out during my events. You just need to look back to Guadalcanal to see issues that I also had, not to mention the Aleutians where people were worried over the weather and planeset match up (not to mention the performance of the B25C). I have had my share of issues also and mostly likely will have issues in Tunisia or Bust in October.
Please remember that ALL admin CMs (me, Nefarious, Stoney, and Squire) do our best to provide all players a fun time and design a solid event. It is a lot of work to do so and compromises have to be made for playability. Then even after dealing with typos, we have to adjust the event as it goes because sometimes things don't work the way we expected them to do. And then lastly it is a living an event .. when you have 400-500 people involved you can only guess at the outcome or what people will do. It is sort of like predicting hurricanes (yes, I live in South Florida so I can use the metaphor). It is by no means an exact science and we all we do is frame the event and then let you loose on it and see how it performs. Many times we are surprised as the players are at the outcome or things that CiCs and squads do.
None of the admin CMs are perfect and all of us have little hiccups, which we do our best to address, and we do our best to provide an event that the majority will enjoy. Unfortunately since there is free will involved on the players part and there are over 400 of you sometimes things don't go well for some people. We try to guard against that and minimize it but it happens (as does my typos in objectives and such).
So I would appreciate it that all players keep this in mind. No admin is out to screw up a setup, the fun factor, etc. .. we all mistakes, we all adjust events during the event, because we want it to be fun for everybody (even though with 400+ different opinions you can't make everyone happy or ensure combat action for everybody .. but it is our goal).
-
Couldn't have said it better--Agreed... :aok
-
IMO, the CMs do a bang up job just providing these events to start with. I can only imagine the amount of planning that goes into setting one of these events up, many factors involved and alot of time :salute
