Title: Pilot Wounds
Post by: Furball on August 17, 2008, 03:34:22 AM
Why do you keep blacking out when you are wounded in an aircraft, yet when you bail you are magically healed.

Keg o' health maybe? :noid

EF = end flight. Yep, I guarantee if I am wounded I will black out on finals..

Yes I do notice about black outs on final, but IMO it's pretty easy to do.

it's like clock work when you have a pilot wound. Black out as your on final and when your on someones six.

I always hit auto pilot right before I black out, if landing then I use the auto angle

Not while you are still in the air.

Time your blackouts so your a couple seconds from landing after the last blackout.  If you land with gear up your plane will stop quick, and keep a straight path down the runway.

It's in the code.

IF ( wounded ) {
   IF ( saddled || on_short_final ) {
      BLACKOUT();
   }
}

The frequency and duration of of blackouts is proportional to your distance from the end of the runway.

The longer the distance, the longer the delay between blackouts, and vice versa.

Also, I'm pretty sure there's a 1.5 multiplier that kicks in as soon as your gear is down...

Thats why when I'm wounded, I never use gear :noid

If you black out on final level out, apply throttle, hit auto level......and then go around.
Dont let a little blood and guts on the windshield rush you into a bad landing. :aok

So, no one thinks it is strange that wounded pilots bail out and are miracle healed?

If the game extended to a FPS after you were shot down then it would matter, but sense it's not I could care less.

shift X is your friend.

once on short final, establish a nice gentle descent rate, be sure your gear and flaps are set, then hit shiftX while holding this attitude. if you do it just right, and should black out on final, the plane will survive the touchdown

I tend to aim for the huge concrete main pad. works like a charm...UNLESS you hit that pesky bomber hanger :)

 :rofl I think no one cares.  We have more important issues to deal with, like HOs, running, vulching, Storch, gangbangers, cherry pickers, etc  :rofl

  id rather just die than fly back to base and have the blackout hit everytime Im about to land. Its like its airspeed/altitude sensitive.

The blast of chilly air perks ya up no matter how much of your brain is spillin' out of your skull.

I know for sure that something's hard coded that when you drop gear you black out...
