Just out of curiosity, what other online games offer a free download and free online play?

Now I never played the H2H for more than 5 minutes.  I would assume that the majority of it's players* were probably under 18 and didn't have a credit card or couldn't get their parents to play for it.  Now with games like WoW, you can find month game cards in stores so they don't need a credit card to play the game online.

*I'm not saying all as I know there were some older gents that rocked the H2H scene for a long time.

That are...?

a) Worth a crap

b) Do not require you to buy a $49.99 boxed version of the front-end

c) Subsist totally on the basis of paid subscribership

America's Army.

You have to buy that game in the store. HTC does not sell a boxed product, they provide it for free. America's Army is also a marketing tool for the US Military not a "for profit" commercial enterprise like HTC. In essence every US tax payer is subsidizing America's Army.

If H2H was available back then for no charge at all... that means you're saying AH is a piece of crap? I've went on youtube, and google, to find out how these people hacked. Hackers, supposedly said that these hacks, only worked for the current version, which was 2.11. Now, it is 2.12 Patch 2. This means these hacks no longer work. With the addition of PunkBuster, AH would be virtually un-hackable. I know of some games who uses PunkBuster, and there are virtually no cheats for it.
Sure, kids will play, but hey, if they love WWII airplanes so much, then let them.

*I was not a hacker, and never will be*

I would love to have H2H back. It was fun to go in there with squaddies and just mess around. Why don't they just make it an arena? Or make it for paying customer's only? Or both? If peope could hack in H2H they could hack in the MA's. If I remember correctly, someone did hack the MA's because they were mad that H2H was taken away. They have a video on youtube. I also heard they got booted from the game. IMO, if they brought H2H back for paying customer's only there shouldn't be a problem...

not every body is too cheap to pay.

there are quite a few of us who want it back for paying customers.

I will say agian that I miss the old HTH days, less likely hood of hordes, free for all arenas, would give people somewhere to go to get away from the MA BS and still have country vs country battles when you want.

I'll repeat for paying customers only.

No, what I am saying is in providing it for free HTC went above and beyond the realistic expectations for this type of service, it was a luxury. It is entirely reasonable for them to discontinue the practice of continuing to provide it as soon as the effort to "police" it took time away from the staff's available dedication of time and resources to their actual paying customers.

This means these hacks no longer work. With the addition of PunkBuster, AH would be virtually un-hackable.

i used to run game server's (rvs,bf2,b42142,jops,bf1942,bf vietnam...................... ......) including punkbuster so i no what im talking about with PB. the ONLY  good thing about punkbuster is that its better than nothing. its also getting VERY intrusive into the OS using dedicated processes to run.
some off the servers i ran i used an addon for punkbuster that caught/looked for more cheats/hacks than standard punkbuster and hackers still got on the server.

Hackers, supposedly said that these hacks, only worked for the current version

that's only partially true. not all hacks stop working when i new patch comes out. it depends on what was changed in the patch.
some of the hacks Ive read about change values in the memory, so say the hacker upped a 51-d with 2 bombs he would search/find the value and change it to 500, hey presto he has a 51-d with 500 bombs.

the sad truth about cheats and hackers is that you will NEVER stop them. they will always find a way to hack. the good news for ah2 players is that's its a small player base so not many people will try to create a hack. also we have admins/programmers that are active in the pursuit of these scum.

No, back when I flew h2h, I COULDN'T afford it...
Going back and forth between washington and oregon almost daily to take care of my dying grandmother, buying her what she needed, using up all of my vacation time and most of my sick leave, trying to keep kids going, food, bills, all that fun stuff, I plain and simply couldn't afford it, and even if I could, the 15 a month wouldn't be worth the 2-3 hours I was able to play a month... so, at least for me, and most of the 17th Air Warriors, it was a money issue, not a "too cheap to pay" thing...

The reason you see everyone posting their little smileys is because they don't know any better. No one here has experienced the INTERNET and all it offers. You are stuck in your little MA world and you'll be in that hole until you die, giving your money like slaves to a worthless company.

There are many more games in this new internet world that are free and available to the public. Why don't you search a little instead of spamming this thread?

Punkbuster is continuously updating their software to make it better. Every time hackers find a new way to bypass their software, they quickly follow with an update to fix it! Why bust on Punkbuster, is the current anti-cheat for Aces High any better...hmm...oh wait they don't have one.

The only reason AH can't reopen H2H is because they know it will damage their reputation even more. They already try their best to get all the hackers off the MA. The only reason this works is because the MA is subscription-based and people don't want to get busted hacking. All it takes is someone seeing you hacking to get busted. However, little do you people know that since AH has no anti-cheat, there are many people that hack in the MA, but in a smaller scale as to not have it be obvious.
The H2H is not subscription based, thus any person can enter and do whatever they want.

I hope some of you LEARNED something from my post today. Thanks.

I used to play H2H for no reason other than I didn't like the arena setups provided by HTC at the time.  It had nothing to do with the subscription fees and everything to do with wanting to set up an arena for the kind of gameplay I was looking for.

It would be nice to see H2H enabled for paying subscribers.

I personally loved H2H. Without having the H2H when I first started id be no where as close the playing level I have achieved. H2H was like elementary school; a good bases for development and understanding of the game.

Plus it was fun to go beat up on some noobs every once in a while when the MA was pissing me off.

I guess that's what the new DA is for now ;)

Without H2H, where will the airplanes land on the upcoming Airport terrain? :(

I truly enjoyed the ability of creating my own environment for others to enjoy along with me. Whether it was team aerial war, team ground wars, paintball, PT wars, FFA, or airport. It was all fun and I do miss it. Sad that one bad apple wanting to make a name for himself had to spread the disease which took our fun old H2H and murdered it.

If it comes back, I'll try to be there to once again resurrect the Airport. :)
