Hey, been an avid fan of your game here for awhile but since I updated my pc (2 times now) I haven't been able to get it to run without hardlocking as soon as I jump in a bird. I'm at the point now where a "yes we can get it to work" or a "nah you're screwed" would be great. Either or cuz I'm just tired of activating accounts then deactivating then wanting to give it another go and paying for another month for nothing..

I know its a driver issue. I'm seeing if I can't work it out on my own, right now.
-
Game doesn't go to a blackscreen anymore. Now it checkers and hardlocks. Have to manually restart my comp.
-
So what I think Im gonna do is partition my harddrive and run xp with vista on it. The only thing is if its an issue with a driver then will it matter if Im using xp or vista.
Skuzzy,where you at?
-
Skuzzy gets time off now and then too.
Did you go through all of the suggestions in the "Vista" thread? I can't help you much with Vista.... its the plague !!! :D
Vista 64 has huge driver problems, while vista 32 can be made to work.
If your going to go through the trouble of a partition, you should be able to run the game with ease on XP.
-
I did all the suggestions for 32 bit vista when I had it and I still had issues. I can actually run the game now with 64 but it crashes after ten minutes or so. Oh, and I got about a 1/50th of the way through setting up a partition and called it quits. That's just way too much bs. I'll probably end up buying a cheap 80 gig hd and installin xp on that.
Oh and I have no problem with vista 64 bit. I can play any game I want with no problems other than this one.. Unless other wise directed, of course. Is it really Vistas issue when some people can run a game on vista 64 and others cant?
-
Did you run Aces High in Windows 98 compatibility mode?
My experience with Vista indicates it does not like anything made by Razer. Also Blackberry management software by RIM will cause lockups frequently.

Everything from razor works fine (keyboard and mouse) and the emulator stuff is junk. Doesn't ever work.. but yes I have tried it.
-
So an update... I can get the game to run for about 30 minutes without hardlocking now. I still have no idea the issue. Cpu gets too hot, possibly? Fans working fine..
-
P.s. I know im kinda coming off as a salamander here but I've spent a number of hours over the last few months trying to figure these issues out haha,
-
If you're open to a little subjective input...nothing personal... My suggestion is a little patience waiting for replies... You can get some REALLY good input and advice from A LOT of the members...but you'll need to give them time to answer before you make another change - it will be hard to follow what point in the troubleshooting you've reached otherwise. Besides, a break from the mind-numbing advanced computer tinkering will give you time to think through even more ideas...
Hope you find the answer - hate to see players bail because of technical issues. (I'm on XP!!)
Game is worth the effort IMHO!

1-I know you said you built it yourself, that being said what motherboard did you use?
2- Did you uninstall then reinstall motherboard/video drivers?
3- Were you using anti-static strap/ mat while building?
4- Did you check for bios updates?
5- Did you try other memory, cpu, video?
6- Have you reset bios back to all default?
-

I did all of those worth doing. I have absolutely no issues other than AH freezing randomly. I play Crysis, Warhammer online, Half-life 2 and multiple mods of... It seems like it's randomly freezing, nothing is "setting it off"....The only thing I can come up with is that the CPU is overheating. That or Vista64, My GFX card and AH just aren't compatible with each other. I'm guessing its that later so I'm hoping there's a way around it.
At the end of the day, I'm probably just going to buy a new hd and install xp on it and just dual boot. But my free 2 weeks are running out which is why I'm working on this issue so steadily.
Oh and I'm using a DFI Lanparty DK p35 series motherboard.
-
Just because something 'works fine' doesnt mean the drivers are stable. obviously you are having troubles of some kind. With Vista 64 the most obvious issues are drivers for Nvidia or Creative products. Razer is a culprit too whether you want to consider that or not. I recommend using Windows 98 compatibility mode whether the 'emulator stuff is junk' or not it does solve more issues then it creates.

I've tried.
And the emulator is for people having issues running the game with xp. Go back and read the thread. The devs claim the game runs on Vista. It doesn't. And if it does, then they should post a plan of action to get the game running.
Ps Explain to me why running AH on an emulator works better than Vista or stop throwing out ignorant advice.

Okay rather then tell you that this is what I do (being one person that uses Vista) to get the game running I will keep my ignorant advice to myself. Have a nice day.

LOL!!! what a dork !
Chalenge is probably one of the biggest "fanbois" of vista on these boards and most likely knows almost as much as Skuzzy about it. Out of everyone on these boards he is the one I will be pestering the most when I am forced to join the Vista crowd (hoping to hold off until the new windows is released and debugged). You have just slapped one of the biggest resources around in the face. What an idiot!
-
Chalenge knows Vista as well as anyone and as he uses it everyday, I would tend to listen to him.
The game runs fine on Vista, such as Vista is, but Vista has more problems than you can imagine. Video and sound card drivers are big issues in Vista. It is really easy to make the OS unstable as well. There is nothing we can do about it.
There is no fix we can do for Vista.

Thank you but I ended up overclocking my gfx card (hadn't gotten around to it) and now the game runs smooth. No lock-ups. Cant figure out why haha. Just one of those things, I guess.
