There but for the grace of god go I....bless!
Since the introduction of the 37mm's on the IL-2 I have been fortunate to have some success in it. I find it a deadly GV killer and wirblizer :D This however is perplexing and to the disdain of some Bish Gv'ers. In their wisdom a couple have concluded that I am using less than "fair" means. One guy sent a film to skuzzy then the following day I was Pm'ed by another.
From the following screen shot we see how the inept draw their conclusions. Feel free to take the piss you'll love the text. The information they lack to draw an accurate conclusion is in the "help file", if they can be bothered to read it. I gather they haven't bothered to read what the "update" included. Obviously some know better or believe stick bounce is part of the game.

Enable scaling
This option enables the game to scale the input from the axis of the joystick. When it is not checked, the game uses raw input from the stick. For some sticks this may be fine, while others may need fine tuning. Check this option to allow the game to alter the input of the stick axis.
Axis Scaling
The joystick scaling sliders allow you to change the response curve of your joystick. Each slider represents a percentage of your joystick's actual movement versus how much input you want the game to read. Each slider represents 10% of your joystick's travel and are labeled at the top. If all sliders are maxed out, this will give you a linear response curve. It is recommended that you avoid setups that make large jumps in adjacent columns. For example, if the rudder axis is selected and you move the 50% slider halfway down, when you deflect your rudder pedals 50% of their travel, your rudder will only move 25%.

LOL, hardly worth worrying about. Some guys just can't die with any style is all.

I love how LYNX is having a PM conversation with someone and continues to make kills without interruption. Makes 2 kills without even pausing the conversation! :rofl :rofl :rofl HeavyD, that's how good of a pilot LYNX is. Lynx has been around the block a few times in this game, and he's the wrong guy to pick a fight with.
-
Trust me, if you got killed by Lynx it was:
A) A fair fight. (By that I mean he did not HO on every attempt, or use hacks.)
B) His skill or your lack of it that got you killed.
C) Should take a lesson from him. (Usually, if he is not busy, and you ask nicely, he will give you pointers on what you did right and what you did wrong, and how to better handle the situation in the future.)
Lynx is one of the few people I miss flying with from the Rooks, and one of the few I fear to see in a yak9u. Implying that LYNX maybe cheating or hacking is to show your own ignorance. :salute LYNX
Just a Reminder; The "Seal Cub Clubbing Club" Squadron will be starting shortly. Patent Pending, Copyrighted and Trademarked.

You are 100% right about LYNX. Proud to have him as a squaddie. And don't forget about him in the Hellcat either!!

LMFAO....This is a copy/paste of a reply i posted less than 8 hours ago in the thread "The types of people in the game" . On page 6 of the thread:

Ive only been playing about 5-6 months, no particular style of player really annoys me except for one:
The almighty "Prosecutor".
This is the guy that records every single frigging sortie that he/she flies. And God forbid that you are the person that shoots down the "Prosecutor". For if you do, soon after the "you shot down <player id> #1. You receive a message similar to this:
Dogfight:
"I emptied my guns into you and nothing-u hit me once and i died."
"I recorded the whole thing and i'm sending it to HTC"
GV:
"15 direct turret shots and nothing"
"u hit me once and i died"
"I recorded the whole thing and i'm sending it to HTC"
The "Prosecutor" will also take screenshot after screenshot of any and all smacktalk, regardless of to whom it is directed.
Have a nice day everyone.

Lynx, quit hacking, you got caught by 1234567 - its over man just let it be!
-
Trust me his IL2 will go down like the rest if you hit him first with your WW. Trouble I find is that I run out of ammo then I eventually die at his hand. No Hack no cheat just learn to hit first rather than being hit. Oh & in before the lock. :aok
-
So, uh, do you use stick scaler or not?
:noid
-
You almost have to use stick scaling especially if you use sticks that are 'combo deals' (read: every Saitek ever made). To do an absolutely perfect job of setting your stick up takes hours that most people dont care to commit. Yes I said 'hours' because if you do it quickly it wont be right.
-
I've never used stick scaling with my X52. I've never had a nose bounce issue.
Oh and LYNX :rofl...:aok you know you're doing it rioght when you get the PMs :D
-
lol nice newb catch there LYNX
-
lol, i think it was a couple of days ago someone on bish was saying you were cheating lynx because your il-2 took lots of hits to shootdown. Lots of people corrected him :) Can't remember the guy's name though.
Is it just me that can read it was heavyD65 in that screenshot? :D

Hey lads thanks for the support :aok but I wasn't seeking adulation or confirmation of my <cough> angelic status :D It was late when I posted and I kind of missed the point I was trying to make.
Not that I'm sucking up to HTC but I support their policy where the "C" word is banded about. When you have the blind leading the blind it's not good for business. These feeble minded folk should just keep their gobs shut instead of confirming their utter stupidity by opening it. The part I find funny yet very sad in the screen shot is, when asked if he'd heard of stick scaling he replies something to the effect of no, and he doesn't need it to play a fair game. I mean ffs how stupid can you get :frown: That screen shot is a prime example of the kind of folk that scream the "C" word. It's easy for me to say these guys are intellectually challenged but what it boils down to is idleness. To lazy to read up. To lazy to fathom out <using my famous line now> "How did he do that".
Have seen lots of freaky stuff in AH and 99.9% of the time it's internet, lag, packet lose, server related. Eye brow raising for sure but nothing malicious. Infact in all the time I've been here I've only seen 3 chaps from the same squad being out of order and they've lasted but a couple of sorties before the ban.
-
So, uh, do you use stick scaler or not?

lol na man. I use the force. :aok

i was defending a vbase one nite, parked in the dugout by the map room,in a panzer, and waiting for the M3. When this tiger spawns in and and starts shooting at me and he's hitting in from of me into the dugout. I get him ranged and kill him in a couple of shots. And he gets on 200 and said rounds were bouncing off me, and he sees hit sprites :lol He called me the "C" word for a hour. :lol i just sat there racking up kills from gvs and planes alike. They were crashing into trees, towering out, ditching..you name it.
I hardly ever get in a GV..i hate em', but i had 10 or 12 kills before they got me. :lol

Heavy D wasn't so wrong. IL2 probly most luved plane in the game right now. Compare to the least luved plane in the game, the Stuka. This game does have extreme bias.
How to be a flight ace:
1) Stick scaling!
2) Flying Htc's 'favorites' like the Aceshigh la7 or Aceshigh yak9u...
3) Are we sure that 'instant' sliders for trim can't be used to give extra turning?
4) AH ommits varriables like 'radiator' temp, since yaks and la's would be overheating within 5mins of flight at full throttle. Non realistic mode favors their stuff.
Lets add...
How to be a GV ace:
1) Put "Short range' view on, Shift f1? If not, you won't even see their tank when its in the open.
2) Mess with your graphics settings so you don't see trees. Xray vission tech here.
"Aces High"? How about "StickscalingFavorites High"?
Disclaimer: the above statements were directly called for by the thread.

Do you even play this game? Juddging from your list I can't see how someone so ill-informed actually plays this game.

How to be a flight ace:
1) Stick scaling!Available to all if you read the opening thread. The pasted quote even referes to "why" it's there. Part of the customer care you ding bat
2) Flying Htc's 'favorites' like the Aceshigh la7 or Aceshigh yak9u... go land a 7 kill sortie in a yak ....ya can't can ya
3) Are we sure that 'instant' sliders for trim can't be used to give extra turning?
Lets add...Never been around stick scaling so I would suspect "trim" is beyond ya
How to be a GV ace:
1) Put "Short range' view on, Shift f1? If not, you won't even see their tank when its in the open. Was designed for aircraft to see GV's. Mostly for folk who have low end graphic cards. Customer care you ding bat
2) Mess with your graphics settings so you don't see trees. Xray vission tech here. You don't play AH anymore do ya and if you do you don't even BOTHER to read the update info's. That was fixed some time ago

Now theres stupid and intellectually challenged. Maybe a combo. Up north they have a saying "nought queer as folk"

Waaaa i r not teh 1337!!1111!!!eleven!!one
:rofl :rofl
-
I wanted to edit!
La's and Ya's would overheat in 1min, NOT 5mins. Which is ofcourse why we don't have the earlier yak's or earlier than La5. If put them, would have to put realistic temp guage - all the russia stuff would be pwnt, as historic!
Oh and LYNX :rofl...:aok you know you're doing it rioght when you get the PMs :D
I'll use SD67's logic, see how fast i've gotten you fewls excited, I must be doin it right!

flyboy96
Yes mate. 2 x pnz 1 xM4. Had a few 6 and 7 kill sorties but them wirlies are still a handful.

Do you even know what stick scaling is?
I don't and my google search-foo seems to be weak today. Can somebody please explain?

Hi,my name is Dadsguns and frankly I'm not as good as flyboy96.
Yeah,that's cause I'm AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(This is a forged quote :D :D)
-
Lynx, I would think this was a very inexperienced player. I was accused of using aimbot in the beginning of the month. :D
-
KTM, stick scaling is a way of altering the imput to make it more or less sensitive to inputs. Almost all flight sims have this one of the reasons is because everyone has a different stick.
In-game you can find it under options, controls, map controllers. Select the axis you want to scale and click advanced options- this will bring up the stick scaling menu below:
My axis for the elevator (and rudder) is like this:
This makes my stick less sensitive at low inputs allowing for minute corrections when aiming instead of having the nose bounce everywhere, this is what lynx was talking about. How sensitive a person has their stick is a personal preference.
-

And, thrila's a sensitive guy.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I can tell you after all these years of playing I have not arrived. No one ever complains about me shooting them down. Instead the salute me and thank me for smacking the dweeb out them. Huh! (Uh there's some fibbing in some this text)

dont post screens of my shade acc! especially when you take my chat out of context. Afterwards I said YOU DONT HAVE A GF/JOB/REAL LIFE FRIENDS etc
-
I wonder what was the purpose of trying to sensor the name out of the pic when it can still be read quite clearly :huh
On my PC the name is unreadable. I thought I had done an adequate job of shielding this chaps identity and to a degree his honour.
For me it's not so much this individual it's the whole thought process or rather lack of it, that leads the ill-informed to jump to conclusions. Conclusion derived by ignorance as patently defined here.
In real life I don't suffer fools lightly, as the proverb goes. I also don't take kindly to virtual slander being as I am one of the most honest players in the game....granted that's my choice and playing style. However, by slamming this particular individual I wouldn't be addressing the bigger picture, hence my "failed" desire to afford this chap a messure of anonymity.
If this screen shot highlights ignorance and irrational thought perhaps the next bunch of guys will at least think before banding around the "C" word.
-
Lynx is one of the few guys whos very, very good in every platform. GVs, bombers, strike aircraft, fighters, ship guns...the entire gamut. There are a few others, but only a handful who can boast this kind of cross platform skill set. Thing is most guys specialize in one or two things and thats it. I remember I had just bombed a field in 26s and was fleeing for my life at 12k from a field with more red on it then an Irish all girls choir. Who do I see coming the other way?, towards the field only at 6k alt, but Lynx.
I warned him theres more red ahead then a Vampires reunion buffet and he replied, "no problem mate thanks for the warning". I was new to the game so I figured this guy was dead as fried chicken, then about 15 mins later I see the scroll "Lynx lands 6 kills in a B-26 of blind bats".
Now that I fly in his squadron I can honestly say nobody can bomb GVs better then he can. In fact he can do it all at a very high level and unlike a lot of score guys He's always going into heavily contested airspace, and often at a disadvantage.
-
I've never used stick scaling with my X52. I've never had a nose bounce issue.
Oh and LYNX :rofl...:aok you know you're doing it rioght when you get the PMs :D
stick scaling is a must

I cant say i like the new gun package it makes panzers use less in TT i see a bonch of tards fliying around takingout turrets in there il2s

Heh.
Lynx killed my GV a couple of times, while diving right into my sites. And I know exactly why he killed me instead of the other way around......
I suck :cry

the IL-2's are going down just as fast as before, theres just more of them right now after the update. :aok
-
I have also wondered if this new gun package on the IL2 will bring the Ostie back more. Think about it, the IL2 is tough and takes a lot more 20mm hits than a standard plane. Perhaps with the Ostie it would take less hits to bring it down? Plus those 37mm have better range.
-
The only aircraft I've ever seen take more than one hit from an ostwind and fly off have been lancaster bombers and the Il-2

Newman, honestly, I doubt it. With the caliber (no pun intended) of players that are mostly online now, they equate volume of fire with destruction potential. Without fail, 90% of the time that I bring an Ostwind out for base Defense or Offense, I get at least 1-2 people asking why I am driving that "Outdated, slow firing, POS." I guess like most things I see in the game right now, some people would rather spray 1,000 rounds and pray that through shear volume of fire, maybe hit 1 target, instead of taking the time and practice to learn the slower firing Ostwind, and fire 5-10 rounds, and take down a hardened target, such as the IL2 or the B25, from twice the range as the Wirblewind.

I used the wirble for a couple of tours, but I have now gone back to the osti because of the difficulty. When one gets "good" (not that I am in any way, shape or form) you can take out more targets in a shorter amount of time than with the wirble. And still have rounds left for their buddies. :devil

Lynx has shot me down countless times, and I've been lucky enough to catch him at the top of a climb once or twice. As a real pilot, I can attest to his skill, I've seen it (drifting down in my parachute after he's sheared my wing or tail off). He knows how to use energy and ACM to his advantage.
Scaling - never tried, definitely will...
IL-2s...I worked at the NASM several years ago, at the Garber Facility. We had a pristine IL-2 in the collection, and I can tell you...this aircraft is built like a tank. The leading edges of the wing, the engine and cockpit areas, are steel - not aluminum. When you tap the side of the fuselage, you don't get that hollow, tin-can noise. You get a solid 'thunk', like you're rapping your fist against a piece of construction equipment.

WOOT WOOT
Wtg SEbongo for those 3 kills! :salute

And one week after the event yet another accusation leveled at myself..... mouth goes vroom but the brains not in gear.
When will these individuals learn to question rather than assume? Just how hard is it for folk to think "How did he do that" rather jump to an unqualified assumption.
FOLKS.... THERE"S BEEN AN UPDATE TO THE IL-2. SOME FOLK ARE SKILLED WITH AN ABOVE AVAREGE HIT PERCENT AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE NEW 37mm
This time I have the film....if the accuser wishes I can post the film or e-mail it direct.
-
Thanks LYNX for the Scaling info I often get error message that says: Don't Move your controlls so rapidly. I believe Scaling will help. Don't care for winers that blame others for thier inadequacies.
-

Which ever axis gives you that message just add some "dead band". Go off line in your most popular ride. Get it zipping along and move your stick up an down then side to side. Quicken the pace until the message occurs. This will look suspicious to anyone standing behind you but you'll find the weak axis.
You can then improve your sticks feel with scaling to smooth it out. All sticks are different....... it's a suck it and see.....good luck.

:rofl yer but in the words of Pink Floyd "quiet desperation is the English way". Na, in all seriousness that's not my intention to highlight an individual but a collective.
Like I said previously.

However, not everyone reads the boards. Had it again tonight but from a Knight player this time.

the panzer is not hevily armerd but they do pack a punch and they are easy to aim i think it is the best tank in the game :aok
-
so dreamkid dont be saing they are a useless tank and you just keep flying planes and you leave the gving for the big boys :D
-
This thread is 3 weeks old who are you talkin to ! :huh
-
im talking to dreamkid he says the panzer is a useless tank but he wouldnt know he just another flyboy
-
I see my old thread has been resurrected. Our new poster must have been referring to this
Panzer's were useless before, if there was an IL-2 driver around that knew what he was doing.
but missed the point about 23mm IL-2 cannon on panzer's.
Anyways HTC has made a bad boy outta me. Had my fourth "cheater" PM just the other day. The IRONIC thing is this guy makes whels look like a newbie when comparing 5 inch gunnery. His consistant long range hit rate is eye brow raising. He's had kills on my bombers before the CV's auto puffy ack has fired
Since the new 37mm's were made optional I have a few observations to share. Putting aside my stick scaling haxor program that initiated this thread :rofl
10 direct hits will explode a panzer. This is the weakest vehicle and in ascending order of hardness
panzer
ostie
wirlie
new t34
m4
old t34
Turreted ostie / wirlie
tiger.
One needs a precise aim and to hold the hit strikes relatively in the same place. Frontal attacks on everything except panzer chassis vehicles is a waist of ammo. Side attacks are likely to track the vehicle but a steep attack is very likely to turret or disable the engine. As the hardness of the vehicle increases so does the amount of rounds needed to acquire the kill.
There you go.......trade secret out in the public domain.
I challenge anyone of my victims to send their film to HTC. I welcome HTC & Co to scan any film I have or films from victims. I also welcome any ONLINE inspection of my AH files, if indeed they can actually do that. They are quite welcome to do this at any time unannounced and unbeknown to me.
Folks shouldn't be so quick to accuse especially if they don't have the knowledge is make an accurate assessment.

I agree on the order on hardiness, panzers are ridiculously easy to kill. 1 pass is generally enough.
-
Putting aside my stick scaling haxor program that initiated this thread :rofl

im talking to dreamkid he says the panzer is a useless tank but he wouldnt know he just another flyboy
First, you should learn to use the quote button so other people know who/what you're speaking of.
Second, the entire quote was "Panzers were useless before, if there was an IL-2 driver around that knew what he was doing." I stand by what I said. If there is an IL-2 pilot that knows what he's doing, even with the 23mm package, you will be lucky if you're still alive after the first pass, let alone still have a turret.

<S> LYNX

10 direct hits will explode a panzer. This is the weakest vehicle and in ascending order of hardness
panzer
ostie
wirlie
new t34
m4
old t34
Turreted ostie / wirlie
tiger.
I'm thinking I would put the list more like this (from an IL-2 point of view):
panzer
Turreted ostie / wirlie
tiger
ostie
wirlie
new t34
m4
old t34
With the 37mm option, I went offline and was able to kill a Tiger outright with 10 rounds leaving my plane. I filmed one "sortie" and killed the Tiger 7 times, plus took out one last turret, with 8 passes on the Tiger, on one loadout of 100 rounds. Took less that 6 minutes from the time I started the engine. With the 23mm package, I could get 3 Tiger kills with one standard (300 round) loadout on 6 passes. Perhaps it's just me, but the Tiger has always been an easier kill for me, in an IL-2, than the T34 or Sherman.

Because I don't know enough about the internet it's hard for me to quantify the following. I think you'll find a difference between Off Line and On. Yes! I know the arena settings are the same but I'm assuming the on line experience is effected due to ping rates and or lag.
I typically log in with 125 to 160 ping with my 18 to 19 hops from the UK to grapevine. This ping rate is perfectly acceptable and playable but may sound alarming to those with pings way under this. Perhaps someone in the know could clarify but it's my contention the internet factors into the perceived hardness.

This will look suspicious to anyone standing behind you

They may be different, but they don't appear to be to me, except they don't move. I haven't been online with the 37mm package. I hadn't even done a serious trial with them until yesterday. I have no problems killing Tigers outright with the 23mm package online, except that they are often moving and make a more difficult target, so it often takes more time to set up. Even if they are different between online and offline, the relative ease of killing with the 37mm vs. 23mm should be the same, or very close, and there is an absolute massive difference.

the panzer may not be hevily armored but ill pick it over a tiger any day

Spare a thought for us poor convict souls with pings averaging 250ms :O
-
I've played with 250ms ping for a few years and never had issues because of it, SD.
-
I'm not having many issues because of it, just the occasional weird snapshot issues but the game generally plays just fine.
-
i dream of 250 ping speeds , im lucky to stay in thhe high 300's ....

Lynx,
As much as I hate to see you at a battle (I like to rack up kills as much as anybody, and If you're there I know it will be an "uphill battle") I would remind you that if someone is making rediculous allegations that you are using atrificial means (that you, and all that have fought against you for more than a week know to be untrue) to improve your success, it should be considered a "badge of honor". I have never had any reason to think you need any "help" to kill GVs... I should know, you've killed mine on far too many occasions to count. as for the person making the allegations (that you said was a Bishop) on the screen shot, I am unfamilliar with that player.
I too have found the "new" IL-2 to be an effective GV killer... ask Ernieee about last night. I must have killed him a dozen times from an IL-2.
:salute

nanananana......tonight I landed a 10 kill sortie in me IL-2. No rearms. :rock

Gack. Well, I'm impressed. Those cannon rounds run out far too quickly for me in that bird.
-

On the arena log in page it has the ping on far right. You'll see it fluctuate.
