the police believe an online gamer was so pissed off with him

Makes sense. Just like we are part of Europe we are not part of it either. Staying out of the EU makes you kind of an outsider even if you are on the inside. Feels nice :)

1994-95 I stop in some aohell chat rooms and quickly realize that the majority of people in there were either smack talkers or perverts. Thinking most of the smack talkers were cowards acting tough because no one was there to smack them down I set up a meeting. Using a different screen name I befriend the worst I could find living in my city and go to meet him. When I get there it turns out he was like 15 -16 years old....not what I expected at all but I smacked him to the ground anyway.

There are a lot of people on the t'interweb who are crazy, sad story. I have had people ask for my address after i pissed them off in game a few times. But not had anyone try to attack me yet!
I always laugh when i hear about the convention threats. I think it was MrBlack who was the best for those :D

I was on a roll a few years ago before I got remarried.(because I didn't learn the first time, that's why) I met some girls on yahoo and msn chat rooms. Had some really good times, and a couple of them were even pretty hot. But man were they fluffied in the head. I never told them where I actually lived and I always either met them at their place or in a public place.
One of them was "saddled up" one time and she reaches over into her night stand. All I could think was she going to pull a big knife out and try to plunge it into my chest or something. Thankfully it turned out to be massage oil. She was also a very good cook. I had thought about seeing her again, but decided not to. I just couldn't see having a relationship with some slut who meets guys on the web, invites them over, gives them a great night of pleasure and then cooks for them. What kind of sick s**t is that?

British subtlty led me to suggest in our hearts we are not part of the EU
and have always been an Island race off the continent of europe.(my view anyway)

England is part of an Island and is located just North of France.
Iceland is an actual Island because unlike England it does not have any other countries attached to it. Great Britain is an Island and England is part of it.

Then we met face to face .. talked for several hours, became good friends.

Well, I don't normally like making sweeping generalisations but I think it's a reasonable assumption that the German armies of both world wars were not scared of any other nation's military force. However when they referred to the batallions of a small country within a small island off the coast of France as "The ladies from Hell" I imagine the average German soldier felt a slight tingle of apprehension and fear at the sound of the bagpipes and the shouts of the Highlands, and who wouldn't.
It's sad though that the kilt is not a Scottish invention.

Ahhh Dutch, what an interesting individual. Took DoK's custom built 1/48 scale Fw190 that Vossman did for him to build a case for it and never sent it to DoK for YEARS. I was astonished with the detail that Jay put into this FW. Had switches and levers in the cockpit, had the seat straps with the buckles and everything. Vossman sure could build nice models. Eventually Dutch sent it and it was all busted up.
And I was gonna point out that everyone has an online stalker if you run a unit for any length of time in online gaming. Thanks for doing that for me. :aok GE talks a big game but he is a sweet nice man in person.

It wasn't meant to impress.
14 years ago when you were 2 many people had no idea how to operate a computer let alone know what dangers the internet had. I grew up like many before you having been taught to respect and honor people, especially my elders. The internet brought faceless people together with other faceless people of all ages. It made it very easy for the ignorant and cowardly of the world to say things to others they would dare not say in public to each other. There was no consequence in doing so unless you were stupid enough to fall into a trap like the one I set. Later I realized the dangers of the internet and how some people might react to the comments, beliefs and the life styles of others and possibly do even worse.... which has happened many times over since. The kid in my story may or may not have changed but for sure he will always remember what his mistake was. I went to meet a man that needed his __ kicked not a spoiled brat. Once i seen who it was I became even more disgusted and realized the unstoppable affect the internet would have on the generation to come. It felt good to smack that kid around and I'm sure he understood most of what I said.
As far as the Con goes, I imagine many who meet each other in person will have a different attitude toward each other and dare not bring up what started any disagreements that could get them smacked until they return safety back home. I'm a firm believer to how you act here on the internet is who you really are or at least pretend to be like if your really just a coward at heart. The unknown person or persona that you meet face to face every day is almost always going to be the fake one.

I am still amazed at how perception shifts when someone introduces themselves, and they go from complete stranger to well known person just for mentioning what their Handle is .. I still remember the moment I met Jonathan .. and you .. and Mullah ..and so many others :)
All the conventions were just amazing.
All the flame and smoke online just does not apply, at a Con.
We all have so much in common.
Air Combat draws us.
It *is* the best game in town ..and so much more.
History that we can relive.
We talk the talk and know the moves.
Most of us regard 'Top Gun' as a comedy :)

i'm sorry but i find both comments you have made in this post a little disturbing. FIRST off its the INTERNET. let people be who they wanna be, if they want to be liars then let them, but to go as far as finding out where a person lives and then going to their house? smh....i'm sorry but that is just a little over the line IMHO. how old was you exactly that you were pushing some little kid around and where was his mom? cuz if that had been my kid and some dude showed up at my house sayin he was "off the internet" i would have beat you down myself. i have a feeling that this story is full of bull to be honest. was you trying to be seen as a "tough guy"? i dont get why you would even post a comment like this.
and tool...IF you ever actually attended a con or even as we have had for last few years now the dayton get together, you would realize that there ARE alot of great people on some of these games we have came to love and enjoy. i am the same in RL as i am on the game. honesty is the best policy whether people like it or not. you sir have disgusted me by your comments and to be totally honest if you were ever to attend any of the get togethers or cons i would prolly smack you myself.

14 years ago, new to internet, appalled, not his home, felt right, expected someone else, learning experience, satisfied myself, never repeated, avoid BS chat rooms to this day, stay true to my character and not ashamed.
On the internet there are many different people with many different views, cause for many different arguments. Once an adult it's your choice whether you want to be an idiot or not but a parents job to not let you grow up like one.
Don't see myself going to a con but you'd find me decent, open, trustworthy, and authentic. Basically easy to get along with, possibly even a good kisser. :) :lol :salute
