i have been flyin the la-7 and as we all know it runs out of ammo kinda quickly
but when i try to land the la-7 (and any other fighter) i alway lose my engine and with the la-7 i lose both my wings and every other removable part of the plane.
1 out of 42 times i make a successful landing
i am using flaps on full but whenever i land the plane suddenly swerves left or right knocking out the engine and both wing
i'm not having a hard time at all landing bombers they are easy to land but when i land fighters i always at least lose my engine
:cry
can i get some tips on landing fighters?

Put down your landing gear. 'G' key on the key board.

i always do that.
-
watch speed, use rudder and brakes correctly.

Pull on stick after touch down to lock the tail wheel.
-
i do all of that except when i land the plane out of nowhere swerves in a certain direction knocking out everything

You have to hold stick back or tail wheel will unlock again.

Are you talking about before or after you get your wheels on the ground? Sounds like you're snapstalling a few feet above the runway.
-
First you have to land at less than 200mph. You should really be landing at about 100 mph. Try to coast in with throttle cut, deploy 1 or 2 flaps and fly over the run way until the plane drops then pull nose up just a little to stall. As soon as you toucn down real in flaps and use a little rudder to stay strait. Pull up when on the ground to lock the tail wheel down and hit the brakes (space bar) to slow to stop and cut engine off.
It sounds to me that you are landing just under 200 and bouncing then hitting hard and breaking your gear.

The rotational torque of the prop pulls your plane to the side (just like when your cars alignment is out). Use a little opposite rudder to stay level.
-
Full flaps is to much flaps...
take 2 notches, gear out (both at ± 160 mph), land at 90-100mph as said before,
pull the stick back, and start braking gently, pumping...
Use rudder opposite to the torque as soon as you hit the ground
(make sure your advanced settings of your axes is enabled)
-
The second the wheels touch kill the engine and hit the brakes (spacebar). A landing is not a controlled crash, fly the plane to the runway. A any time during the approach you should have enough control and speed to give full throttle and fly away.

Can a person even keep an La-7 in flight between 100 mph and 90 mph with only 1 or 2 notches of flaps out?
at less than 110 mph or 100 mph you should most definitely have full flaps / all flaps extended
you should not lower your gear until you are under 160, preferably 150 mph or slower, to not risk tearing the gear off!!!
at this speed 160 to 150 1 to 2 notches of flaps extended YES..........slower you go, more flaps out you need to maintain controlled flight......
when using spacebar for brakes or using C ( left wheel brake ) and V ( right wheel brake ) use them in a a way like on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off until speed slows down, this way you will not nose over by holding them down to long / too hard. you can also use C and V alternating back and forth individually to keep you tracking straight down the runway.......
also check out Rolex's excellent write-up on the Trainers Website regarding landing.......

hope this helps.......

I always attempt a three-point landing (as long as the plane has a tailwheel and not a nosewheel). The goal is to try to make sure all three of your wheels touch down simultaneously. Attempting this will most often get you slow enough, and your tailwheel will be quickly down and ready to lock into place.

NEARY,
I made a film for you. I narriated the film as I make the landing.
A few notes:
I approached the runway from high and purposly gained speed. One hardly ever makes a nice strait in landing in the MA. You are usually trying to land as soon as possible.
I didnt want to show a simple perfect strait on landing because that just wouldnt help you as much.
This is "my style" others may land differently.
Remember that you have a lot of runway. If you come in over it at the very end you can fly strait with no power and flaps and just touch down.
I did have a few crashes just like you described. I was going to fast and was cross crontrolling to hard. The plane just spun out as soon as I locked the tail wheel. You have to be strait with no rudder until you lock the tail whell. If you are cross controlling when the gear hits you will spin.

you might want to pull up the nose right when you are going to land so the egine doesn't break
-
Dude, forget putting the gear down.. belly it in... you stop faster which helps you avoid vulch dweebs
-
lets nag :furious lol

try the 'Auto-Land' feature. yeah, I know it's for n00bs, but it saves my perkies.

might sound stupid, but if your gear is down, and you're doing everything else right, check your rudder pedals. the right toe brake went bad in mine........so when i landed, it would swerve that way no matter what i did. i simply scaled that one down to 0......now i either belly land, or land on a cv.....assuming i get to land.
-
You don't use any rudder, do you Neary? My guess would be you don't even in flight when fighting. If that's the case you'll most likely do a groundloop as the plane swerves sideways. Just counter with rudder to keep it going straight and also pulling back on the stick to lock the tailwheel will help in keeping you from swerving too much.
-
Landing is tedious. if you want to do it right you have to line up with the runway(which required to approach it properly), you have to watch you gauges and you have to control your speed. If you hit the runway at or under 100 mph and immediatly start braking I can't understand the problem. Minor adjustments is all that is needed.

You might try mapping the X-Axis on your rudder pedals (left toe brake) to "Brake Both" so you can land on runways again. You'd just have to use a bit more rudder to keep your heading; or kill the engine.

I never use flaps to land. just throt off and full rudder till slow enough and land without a bounce every time ....cept for the F4U's. Then I'm usually spinning around and rolling backward to re arm hehe
