While browsing online for info on simpits i found this http://www.mydreamflyer.com/welcome.html#. Hmm, i wonder if the wife would notice a sizable amount gone from the account. :O
-
Looks like it would be alot of fun. I like the three monitors. I did not see the pricing? Thats never a good thing.
-
I'd definitely want to try it before I bought it, and I doubt I would be willing to pay the price. On the other hand, if it's as good as advertised, it might be worth it. The chair looks comfy. It's using Saitek controls, so don't know how they are vs the CH products I'm using.
-
looked on one of the resellers websites, $10,500.00 :rofl :rofl :rofl :lol :lol
Fud "gerd"

$10,500.00
Fud "gerd"
heyow no, that's more money than we paid for any car we've owned. almost more than all of them put together. ripp-off ....still though it would be nice to have :)

No relation to me. try this site www.thev1chair.com

Some metal tubing, a racing seat and they want $3,600.00 for it. No need to wonder why we are going into a recession.
Unless you have a strong bladder, you would spend more time strapping yourself in and out of the thing then playing the game. :rofl unless they have a built in piss bag, then where do I buy one !!!!!!!! :lol
-
I'm building something like that. I've taken a dentist's chair, mounting my stick on the right arm rest and the throttle on the left. Once I get it built I'll post pics. Now all I need is for someone to buy me some pedals :t
-
Ah what a load of crap this thing is gents.
Look how much throw you need to move the stick forward and back, he's almost falling out of the chair, no not for me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMJpSuCegBc&eurl=http://www.flightsimx.co.uk/hardware/dreamflyer-motion-platform-for-flight-simulators/
-
It doesn't simulate anything correctly either. When you tilt the stick to the left, the thing rolls left... not at all simulating the feel of rolling left. the instant you straighten the stick it straightens. Really should be tilt to the left, the thing rocks to the right, and vice versa. Can't imagine it feels real.
-
Interesting idea .. the stick is anchored at the bottom, movin the stick pivots the chair.
As mentioned above, huge throws involved would be limiting factor.
No fast radical movements :)
You'd be smooth.. ie: tracking target.

Overpriced beyond comprehension.
-
and why the hell did he use an X52? :huh
-
To date, I have not seen on viable contraption such as this. The movements are all wrong.
The only way to get flight simming as real as possible(for the average consumer) is Track-IR, 3 screens, and a HOTAS set up. Personally, I'd much rather have a set-up like this minus the
half-arsed contraption that is better at making me vomit (due to the money involved AND the jerky motion) than making get immersed in the game.
Surround sound would be nice too or a really great pair of headphones. Other than that, these things are a waste of money.
They do not track movement correctly and are prone to constant problems that usually involve unreasonable amounts of money to fix.
This stuff is no different than the Deluxe version AfterBurner.
-
Roger that Anodizer..
Full motion needs to have no outside reference (seein the walls of the room it's in is a disconnect)
..I followed the links on youtube and saw a couple very nice full motion setups that
..if they had no outside reference
.. would be pretty much right on.
The one that shows the chair tilt back when power is added,
..tilt forward when throttle is closed,
..bumped an jarred on the ground ..ya
.. bet that one could make ya 'get into it' if he had a bubble around it or was in a darkened room :)

Don't forget 3D headsets..... That + TrackIR would be sweet... Was almost gonna get a setup like that, but then I realized AHII is fun, it just ain't $450 fun.

I agree Kaz! Geez, you need an extension on your arm. :rock

unfortunately he doesn't know what he's talking about in that 5%, so the pictures are the more intelligent posts he has.

You know it's only a matter of time before someone puts a HOTAS and LCD screen on one of these.

Wow...hope they make safer first. You see the guys head 2-3 inches from the ground during the first few moves? No thanks on that program!

That's insane... You see how close that dudes head came to hitting the floor in the first few seconds??? :rofl

Hey Guys,
I'm currently putting together a much lower cost option Sim Pit. I had an early prototype at the convention (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,250521.msg3084217.html#msg3084217) and the first response was very positive, but I have been very busy making modifications based on the input from everyone there (i.e. HiTechs request to make the stick move forward and back with the seat adjustment, and suggestions by Bob Shaw and Grayeagle about stick placement and range of motion.) I have also got a hold of P51 Schematics (thank you Waffle) and am currently trying to match up the ergonomics to make this a true WWII cockpit simulator. My plan is to provide it as just plans, a basic kit (- the electronics) and a fully built sim pit so that anyone can afford to have one. Let me know if you are interested and I would be happy to send you some pictures. As for the computer, triple displays, and Track IR, I have those dialed in to perfection.
I would also be happy to build these as special order custom jobs to incorporate your own style or preferences as well.
My simpit will be an enhancement to flying and not a distraction. That huge stick movement and the crazy pitching and swaying makes no sense at all!
PM or e-mail me at texas_rockdog@hotmail.com for more information.
I'm also just south of Dallas and would welcome you to come visit my workshop and see what I'm doing first hand.
Cheers,
Rockdog

If you buy or build one of these you really really need to get laid, because you have become the king of dweebiness. :aok

3D headsets already include trackers. However they would be incompatible with these sorts of simpits as the tracker tracks head movements using accelerometers and gyrocompasses - so any movement from the motion simulator would screw things up.
IMHO the sense of vertigo you get from a 3D headset is better than any motion simulator could give you. Games become a vastly different experience when you start seeing them in real 3D. The feeling of motion you get close to the deck, or during a knife fight is insane.

Which head set do you use Vulcan?

Z800, got one before the price hike.
-
I was stupi enough to think that they were about come out with a high resolution version due to the price drop. It made me hesitate on buying one, then a month later, I broke downa nd was going to buy the 800 and the price was up 400%!!!
Nice marketing.... Idiots...
And still nothing on the high res front.

I currently use the Dreamflyer. It's great fun.
I bought mine for 2,800.
Shipping sucks and you can expect to add on another 300 for that.
It comes un-assembled with instructions and takes about 2 hours to build.
I can say it does not make me a better player. My skills are still equal, but I have become pro at landings
because when you hit rough the chair shakes semi violently which is cool once or twice but not always lol.
If you want the best deal on the chair email Diana Groffen at the dreamflyer website, she will help you
figure out payments etc.
I will work on posting a video of me using the dreamflyer while in AH2
