Title: V-base Ack addition

So it's proportional to the # of ack on the airfields:  Why not go 2 more auto-ack or 1 auto and 1 extra soft gun (total 5)?

Thoughts?

I would say yes. Only because the whole v-base capture with a M3 with troops & bailing so they can get a bomber capture as the troops are running is way out of control. It wont stop it but I don't think it would hurt either.

I would like to see ack doubled, 2 more auto and one more manned gun. Perhaps they could add a 4th hanger. Although that would still only take 2 passes with bombers.

I think it is fine the way it is now.  This will never stop the folks it is meant to slow down.

It could use more defensive positions regardless of everything else. One person can deack a Vbase with almost no chance of being shot down by the auto ack.

I dont think this sould be....

Ideally, a V base should have 4 manned positions around the core of the base that can not be killed when not manned, or ideally, from the air. They would have to be shot from the ground while occupied.

Not to make it harder to land grab V bases. If you want to do that, defend them.

But to give defenders a fighting chance if attacked by ground vehicles.
Should be at least 2 88mm or equivalent guns, and a pair of 37-40mm guns.

Those along with the 2 auto acks we currently have should do the job.

It is not about scoring.  It's about giving a v-base a reasonable chance to defend itself.

The idea is that if you want more ack at a VB is that you drive a SPAA out of the hanger.  However, changing the manned ack to a 20mm Quad or to a 88mm would be nice.  Maybe make the auto-ack 37mm into 40mm while they are at it

Adding a dual purpose 88 that could be used for AA and AT would be nice.

Here is an idea that I just thought of, but have not put any thought into because I have not had my first cup of coffee yet!

What if the maproom ack was a hardened pillbox? Armored enough that MG fire could not disable it.  Something between M8 armor and Panzer armor.

we shold have flak because i can deack a field in 5 seconds tops and we should have 2 40mm autogun, 2 x 4 .50 cal guns and so on either we need more to defnd and stop the v-base sneaks.

Wont that mean if no one gets in the manned guns then they cant be killed? It would make a cap impossible since you need to kill all the ack to cap a vbase, if everyone was smart they would just not get in the manned guns so they would stay up. Or am I just reading that wrong.
