Never before has sky-diving or base jumping seemed interesting. Never before have I watched a video (Not about flying planes), and said "Im gonna do that some day!" And then I saw this!

When too much disposable income and a loose grip on reality collide, tonight on Fox!

Let me know when you post the video of your 'flight.'
-
seen that before, they look like giant flying squirrels.

Seriously? Youre gonna make that challenge? Reread my post. "SOMEDAY". Have you never had the desire to learn to do something some day? I had a desire (still do) to be a pilot when I was 8. It took 8 years, but i've got my license. This is another one of those things. It will take 20 years if it does ever happen, but it looks REALLY fun. God forbid someone mention a desire to try something out in their lives...

He didn't say he expected you to have it done by saturday...

Perhaps its the curse of reading intentions on the internet, but he seemed to me to be insulting me. Along the lines of "another squeaker thinks he can get up and just suddenly do things".

I'm still trying to figure out how they overcome the drag coefficient of their huge balls.

Vaccuum filled skulls.
-
I'd stick to an aircraft. Cool though :D
-
Watched it. Wondered, "what if they misjudge their angle or height just a teeeeny bit?"
Found a youtube video:

You got that right...

No not what I was saying at all. If I insult you it will not be a hidden insult. I had a few jumps when I was a young man and didnt have so many aches and pains. RA has set in now so I have to be careful how far beyond normal activity levels I try to go or I would try the suit but not near mountains like that. I dont know if 'brave' is how I would describe it.

that dude was so lucky...

I'm with you Serenity, that looks fun. Depending on how things play out, I too would enjoy doing something similar.

Oh, my apologies. Looking on it, I guess I did kinda jump the gun there, sorry!
My father used to sky-dive. I don't really have a choice, he's going to make me jump before I go off to college (So some time within the next 1.5 years) and the Air Force probably will do (if I get lucky). I think it would take 30 minutes of me freaking out before I actually tried something like that, and even then someone might have to push me!
-
Well, you could always jump out of a plane with the suit before jumping off a cliff.
-
I'd love to try one of those wing-suits in a normal skydive from a plane (the higher the better) but not base jumping from a cliff. From a bridge or building, maybe, if I could find one high enough to make it worth while. But not with a cliff all around me. I get distracted too easily, and I'm twitchy when the adrenalines flowing.

Im still terrified. Im one of those guys who never has the balls to do it the first time, but once ive done it, I cannot stop going back for more. I think Ill have a buddy come along on my first jump in case I need a push...

You do realize that twitch against the massive force of 100 M.P.H. winds is nothing?
-
Unless you're 5 feet from a sheer rock wall, in which case a I'd probably have one arm start flapping and the other fold up, corkscrewing me into the rocks at stated 100 mph...

Perhaps he's referring to the twitch of a releasing bowel?

Not if you lift your left arm and flap your right. :D (If the wall is on your right.)

There are several "things" that fall from the sky: Rain, Snow, Bird Droppings and Fools....in regards to the "flying Squirrels", take your pick. I'm leaning towards "fools." :D
-
Which category do planes fall under?
-
I'd say bird droppings for planes.
Also, I saw an interview of a guy who shattered his (left -- I think) leg doing this...caught a nasty unexpected wind sheer coming off the face of the cliff and he bounced off a rock at high speed because of it. Lucky to be alive, that one.
It seems fun, but I think jumping out of an airplane -- nowhere near a rock-face -- would be exhilarating enough.
-
Which category do planes fall under?
Wreckage
-
Wow, there's only 2 ranks for this sport.... GRAND CHAMPION or stuff on a rock... :rock
-
I'm sorry, I couldn't watch long enough to see the landing part. Was worried my sons would come through and say "Wow! I wanna do that!!" Do they have chutes at the end?

Yes. They slowly float to the ground.

In chutes? Or in that silly flying-squirrel get-up...

Chutes.

bugger! it was safe to watch & I chickened out!

lol. Its still there if you would like to view it again :D
-

Didn't have the inclination to name ALL the "things", but I think you get my intent. :D
-
He he he. I knew a, "fool" who jumped out of an airplane at 72,000 or 73,000 FT (MSL). He taught my First-Aid CPR course.
How ironic.
