Bud American Ale. Not bad at all. Ended drinking two bottles while playing AH. Usually I only drink one bottle if I have a beer at all. Has kind of a sweet after taste with a soft bite. Really enjoyed it.
Oh, had a nice amber color. You must first feast with the eyes.

Bud American Ale is not bad. However Bud Select is sewage water.

That's how I feel about Michelob Ultra. It's horrible.
-
I recently bought a 12 pack of the 1960s recipe Schlitz. It was reintroduced in this area just a couple of months ago. I really enjoyed that too.
And the retro looking labels on the brown bottles is kind of neat.
-
I agree with ya Getback, for a Bud product, it is very good.

My wife asked if I wanted to try Budweiser ale (she tolerates my love of beer) and I said I would never buy it. I refuse to support their stranglehold on the hops harvest. Every year it's more expensive for smaller brewers to make their beer because the giant domestic beer companies have bought up the lion's share of the hops, making it artificially expensive. Needless to say, the giant domestic beer companies use less hops in their beer than the brewers they're screwing over. It was one thing when Budweiser only sold lagers, but moving into ale with this market/supply strategy is truly cynical.

...and yet hops are also subsidized...

Yup, the government pays for the brewing of the crappiest swill to ever be poured in a beer glass. Brave new world?
-
Since Budweiser was bought out by that European conglomerate, they are opening their horizons both in marketing and product.
If I were on their marketing staff, I would expand the product base (they already had with their higher-priced Michelob line), but as mentioned above--would drop a few products as well.
The more they can look like an import or micro-brew--the more market share they will get. And never underestimate the market share by just plain ole "Bud". Don't ask me why---except that 40 years of marketing pounded into the American psyche actually DOES work.

never could stand bud but the ale aint bad

Michelob is owned by Bud too. So is Corona. In fact most beers sold in America are owned by just 2 companies.
-
yeah michelob ultra kinda stinks, haven't tried the American ale but it will be the next on my list.
as far as mass produced american beer goes this would have to be my favorite, i think its great, especially with all the banquets i hold!

My dad was super excited for it when it came back out since he used to work for Schlitz Brewery in the 60's. To his disappointment, I didn't care for it :)

Google Maps says 10hrs 17min one way so 20.5ish hours plus loading the beer. Remember the 55mph national speed limit?

discussing the difference between the major breweries in the U.S. is like ......well.....
you guys don't have beer. sorry. nope nope nope.
bland, non-descript, i don't even think you let the mule-piss ferment.

My old man used to drink Schlitz, the old time formula, and I cut my teeth on it. I had heard they were going back to the original formula because the micros were killing them. At one time this was a hugely popular beer.

One of the best movies of all times, and im no fan of driving movies or car things. S&B rocks! :aok

oh i was just waiting for the first non-american to come in and make their smug remark, we know! we get it! but thats what we're discussing... it's what we've got to work with, all the small micro breweries are comparable to the rest of the worlds beer, not the major companies.
besides, americans like to party, can't drink that heavy stuff when you're binge drinking :devil

Sam adams considered a major brewery? If so most of their stuff is quite good. Kinda blows your whole theory out of the water now doesn't it?

I drink two beers
Hoegaarden
and
Blue Moon
All other pale in comparison.

The Bierstube I used to hang out at had Hacker-Pschorr on tap, a German Lager. It was like Mothers Milk it was so good. They also had a German Dark on tap, "cant remember the name", along with 4 or 5 other tap Bier brewed up in Germany. Best thing about the German Bars, at least back in the '70s, is they didnt care if you were to young to drink legal. I started drinking in this place when I was 16yo. At the time they had the largest selection of imports available in the city.
I quit drinking years ago but the Bierstube is still there in the old German neighborhood. You have to hand it to the bloody Hun. They are craftsmen when it comes to making beer.

Since moving to Indiana I miss:

-
They're not the oldest american brewery without reason, and they stayed true to their roots. Best Beer for average consumption in my estimation. There are better tasting imports and micros.... but this is my first choice.
Pass me a Lagaaa.

Followed by the best dark beer I think I've ever tasted. Makes guinness from the draft taste like a crudona.

Why the heck would you move to Indiana?
-
Yeah out of all my friends I'm the only one that really went for Stout beer. But I loved the dark beers or stout beers, even liked them warm. Now that there are so many micros, and so many incredable beers waiting to be discovered, its a really great time to be exploring new beers. Even the mass producers are going back to their roots in America and their original, 1st generation, methods of brewing beer.
I use to love visiting brewries because beer is never better then when its freshest.

No kidding. :huh. My wife is getting her phd at Purdue.

Wow PHD! Purdue is an excellent school. I graduated from Indiana University at Indianpolis 2x. My Son graduated from purdue.
I live here and am not really happy about things right now. I should be Just thankful I don't live in Illinois or Michigan though. :rofl :rofl

Anything with "Bud"...ummm I meant to say "BUTT" in it as the first sound is garbage beer. It is useful for just one thing and that is pouring out on the dry ground.
I can't stand anything brewed that says Budweiser in the name of the beer.
