Well we did it we told you we were comin what base and what alt only a few defenders, and the whines started on 200 right away.
I'm now officially bored with the whining!!
Rooks are lame and made all sorts of excuses i don't care what base you take anything to not actually fight.
You asked for it you got it and whined about it now shut it!!!
We will give the Nits same oppurtunity tomorrow Hopefully they will be up to the challenge.

Was a fun mission. I dropped ord on the runway and flew cover in a 47N. Very few rooks upped ahead of time to defend. Quite a few upped from a nearby CV after they saw what was going on though.

Thank god, I have been trying to complete my list of things that are totally irrelevant in this world. I am now up to 2!

Whines are pretty much part of the game. I think they can be entertaining. I whine now and then, try to at least give the other guy a laugh, a chance to return an insult. Heck, sometimes it passes time as you replane. I'm always glad to receive a good whine too... PM's are my favorite. I have some classics but wouldn't want to put anyone on the spot. No doubt I've sent some good ones myself. :aok
I whined like a sissy to Jwilds tonight, it was fun. He had some good comebacks. :)

I whine but only to my squad. Ok that's not true but I always look who the Hotard was or the ack hugging dweeb. I especially like how they run for 2 sectors out of icon range only to come back with 2-3 friendlies to finally fight. Ya that gets me going especially when Im flying a lesser plane and have less skill (which is most of the time). I love the challenges of "lets go to the DA". I don't think I've ever won one of those. So when I do whine just challenge me to the DA and I will definetly find the respect that I should have given you in the first place. I still love the game. Why else would I keep coming back. :aok

One thing I've noticed though the usual suspects have taken a different tactic other than the NOE's are unfair, hording is wrong etc. Mostly they are quiet now except for whining about the post itself.

Let me see....
There were 3 full dar bars of bishops coming in. Versus about a 1 full dar bar Rook force, witch fluctuated between full and not full. No one really cared at all.

I have always said since my days in AW that if you want to stop people from flying 30k go to 30k and kill them. Makes it senseless for them to do so.

Oh wait, that wouldn't happen because you have TWO squads with a total of 47 members :rock I really don't understand what you want from everyone. Are you looking for internet fame? Are we to post a YouTube video about this little known game called AcesHigh2 and tell about the living legend named Joker, who can mass 75% of his countries players to capture bases?
I'm amazed at the lengths you'll go to control everyones game play. I find it sad that you have to put so much time and energy in a video game. And you find it lame that folks don't take all this as serious as you. Do you need to be told that you're the greatest we've seen? Are you that wanting of admiration that you need validation in your internet achievements? I hope not because that's not going to happen.
I can't speak for anyone else here but I personally don't care who or what you consider lame. My life does not revolve around this game as yours seems to. I truely wish you the best Joker and hope you find something meaningful in real life to give you that ego boost you so desire.
When I first bought a computer, it never occurred to me that there'd be guys out there wanting to be cyperspace heros :rofl

Very poignant considering our last encounter a couple of days ago. You were a spit 14 over 15k at A98. I was the only fighter that upped to engage you. I being in a yak9 75% fuel and without any advantage. After you made 2 unsuccessfull passes you ran a full sector at alt back to your base. I gave up the chase 4k behind you inside your dar circle. Knowing I was getting low on fuel I headed for home. To your credit :rofl you then gave chase to me towing what turned out to be your friendly P51 country man. You and the p51 died. To your credit again :rofl you did up and give chase once again with the knowledge I was low an slow after dealing the P51. I made it home with 3 min of fuel where a squaddie of mine gave you the treatment you so richly deserved. How ironic your quoted post.

Well I whined last night lol about Thorr420 being a dweeb bombing. I hope i got him chat suspended for the PM's he sent me lol. He must of been in a bad mood. He said every swear in the book for me just cause i said hes a dweeb that can't get kills so bombs tanks in TT. Then I went and porked his ords :P

:rofl I'm sure you do look for the hoarde. If we all had the skill you do the rest of us would too. But I can't kill a few and then shake the other 3 or 4 diving in on me. And niether can 95% of the other players in here. So what's the point in upping? Why not let em' have the base and catch a fair fight somewhere. When I have to fight several at once just to get killed by a dude I wasn't even fighting...where's the fun for me in that?

Yep, I checked the stats. Dads flew the 14 once and was killed by Lynx in a yak. It appears that Lynx has his facts straight and it's you that are mistaken sir :D

but that's not the only thing you'll become bored with. You'll become bored with the whole leadership thing to. It may not happen next month or next winter but it'll happen. You'll log in 1 day with the hope of a couple of good fights but a countryman, perhaps a newbie, devoid of free will or initiative will pester you do a mission or start a country roll. This will happen within seconds of you logging in let alone your first sortie or getting gend up on the lay of land. You'll find you can't or don't want to meet their expectations all and every time. You'll want your 15 bucks of some good fighting and not your 15 bucks spent to please everyone else.
(Stevex of the League of Gentlemen...AOL Fighter Ops, Warbirds Fighters Ops, Lynx of Sons of Bishes, S.O.B....ring a bell :rofl)
You'll become bored of mustering 50% to 75% of your country men for a roll to capture 1/2 the map. You'll become frustrated with the lack of fights or the kill count. You'll become bored with the sea of green Icons and very few red. You'll be bored with floating about typing orders or information for the capture instead of doing what you like best...killing.
Not that anything I've written is coming true right now but... hey! it's coming. Enjoy :aok

2 passes? I did in fact turn away and was heading back to my base,,, I was full of fuel and was on a search for the CV in the area when I ran into him in a yak, and yes I was also trying to run him out of fuel by dragging him to my field.
He took care of my spit easily and engaged the 51, however when I returned he then stayed in the ack of CV which I bravely endured until the oh so accurate puffy ack took me out twice, awarding Lynx the kills. :salute
Knowing, that he was now running to his base to land I continued the chase and yes I was thoroughly jumped, and dont mind at all. Its all in the fun. However, I did not run away no matter how many uppers came to the rescue.
So,,,, your point was....

But he is right, most of our members have a real life and are not on as often as you may think. Some are listed and have not flown in some time, college, medical, life in general prevents them from being on as often and we encourage them not to play and take care of business first. Mega? I dont think so. But for the few times that we are full strength, we usually are spread out doing our own thing, and that depends on how bad the map may look at the time.

I have seen multiple posts, from multiple people, on opposing countries that all he and his squaddies could do was NOE missions and were afraid to meet "head on" and couldn't pull it of when met "head on" ... so he decided to take on the challenge and put his money where his mouth was and it appears as tho some serious wussification befell those who were going to be attacked ... even with sufficient warning.
Waaaaaaa .... 4 on 1 ... It's not his fault that no one wanted to mix it up, especially after being forewarned.
If he announced his intentions on 200 and whomever and whatever he said they were going to attack ... the responsibility of mustering a counter force was the responsibility of that country. Is there not another "large" squad within the Rooks that could rally to the call ? ... or were they too busy hording the crap out of some other opposing base. I would have thought that with all the crap that people threw at Joker and his crew and they now had the opportunity to "smack" them down like a red-headed stepchild that there weren't at least 40-50 people flying straight at them.
As I have stated in other threads like this ... back in the day when I flew with the MAW, if we were attacking some base, and the call came out on country channel or even over the "All" channel that the AKs were attacking a field ... we dropped everything and anything we were doing to spoil their attempt(s). Why ? ... because we were the only squad on the Knights that could actually meet them head on head, plane for plane, and defeat their attack ... we thrived on being the "watchdog" for the Knights and thrived even more on mixing it up with the AKs and coming out on top.
What each country needs is a "watchdog" squad who is not afraid to mix it up with the likes of the Joker's Jokers ... and it appears that that is not the case ... or at least it wasn't that night.
It will be interesting to see what happens when they take it to the Knights.

As I stated in my other post, I have been here now for 7+ years and I have know Steve for the 7+ years. I have flown with and against him and the only reason he is as good as he is is due to the fact that he wants to mix it up and has mixed it up and learned from it.
He didn't appear on the AH scene and become an instant Pony Ace ... he paid his dues ... he flew into situations where he had absolutely no chance of winning, but learned valuable lessons by putting himself into those situations which eventually translated to him being able to take on 2, 3, or more guys and come out on the winning end.
I don't know why people can't understand it, but in order to get good at this game ... you have to die a lot, so if you are fearful of dieing, you will only progress so far and never be able to properly handle a 1 v multi situation.
When I have to fight several at once just to get killed by a dude I wasn't even fighting...where's the fun for me in that?
I understand where you are coming from ... there is a point in a 1 v multi situation where you say ... "What's the sense ?" and due to the increased population in AH II (compared to AH I) and the amount of goobers that feel the need to drop in on a target that is already dealing with 3 or more is why you see this happen.

Couple things..
1. Congrats and thank you for trying something different.
2. A single night of a new process should not be the sole indicator of success or failure of an initiative.
3. I've heard it said that 75% of the player base does not frequent this BBS or message forum. I, personally, didn't know this even existed until I had been playing for 10 months. I, and many others on the BBS, know exactly why you did what you did.. announcing your intentions. I would expect that most who were on last night had NO idea what your goal was, so it's understandable that you would be met with skepticism, ridicule.. or whatever else you encountered.
Keep trying the new approach.
Your results may vary.

I understand what you're saying Slapshot. I tell guys all the time "you won't get better by running or avoiding fights". And if I had logged on last night, I'd been there fighting the hoarde. I'll get right in there and turn with spits and hogs or whatever. But after I get a few and have my oil knocked out or half a wing blown off, I'd like to be able to limp back home without 4 LA7s, 3 spit16s and a zeke all trying their best to get a assist on me :lol it just gets old is all I'm saying. I think most of the guys in the game feel the same way.

1. Joker posted a mission:: p47s, p51s and (i think) tiffies all with ord
2. He announced on ch 200 that he was posting a mission
3. He announced time til mission started
4. He announced launch field, trgt field and alt he intended to level at (multiple times)
5. He invited all Rooks to come meet it
6. Last time I checked there 17 total pilots in that mission
Bops were in squad night so we did not join but watched with interest...we were fighting knits who had 130 players to 83 bish on...
In response to Joker....Bj229 and twentyfo began insulting him and jokers on ch 200...Bj229 in particular is a bbs poster who "hates" hoardes and craves a good fight....there were at least 5 other BBS posters on flying as knights who also constantly post they "only want good fights and hate noes" They had been populating ch 200 with comments so I checked roster and they were on...they could easily have switched to rooks to find this fight....none of them did...
Joker was polite and did not engage the guys on ch 200...he flew his mission and then said "niters" and logged...

Well we did it we told you we were comin what base and what alt only a few defenders, and the whines started on 200 right away.
I'm now officially bored with the whining!!
Rooks are lame and made all sorts of excuses i don't care what base you take anything to not actually fight.

crap but wont do anything by their squad alone, got to have the mega horde to fight in.
:rofl ... 40+ planes .... too funny ... the MAW use to field that many (within the squad on squad night) for a mission, never mind those who tagged along ... and the AKs, along with other Bish had no problem throwing a monkey wrench into our plans.
It wouldn't take anymore than 25 planes to counter a 40 plane attack and stop the taking of a base.

I think the whole 'announcing a mission' thing is making the assumptions that a) The enemy is somehow organized and will launch a structured counter assault and b) The enemy cares. I was on when Joker was telling rooks mission plans but I was already engaged in a good fight elsewhere and didn't give a hoot. I guess I didn't feel like bailing from my flight and rushing over to the cartoon base that was in trouble and getting ganged by 15k assault fighters.

Goons don't fly at 8k... a mission without goons is like a day without sunshine. I just fail to see how even a small handful of guys couldn't bust up a 17 plane group who had announced launch location, alt, and destination. All those planes at 8k+ were probably heavy so they had to come down.. oh geez I could go on and on. Frankly, going up to 10-12k doesn't take too long. 30 guys at 8k announcing where they are going sounds like an all-you-can-eat smorgasboard with a big "open for business" sign on it.

Grizz ... Joker and his boys took a beating in the other thread and were slapped in the face, repeatedly, that they can only do what they do by sneaky means (NOE) and if they ever came up against an equal force, they would have their arses handed to them.
Well it looks like Joker was willing to test that theory and, as far as I am concerned, really put it out there by actually broadcasting his intentions. So at that point the ball was in the "other" court and it was up to them to prove Joker wrong.
If the country is not organized ... that's not Joker's fault ... and with that, it wouldn't matter then if he ran his missions NOE or out in the open because the country that he attacked really sucks at repelling attacks.
If the country doesn't care ... so be it, but any and all from that country (and there have been plenty from all countries in the other thread) that jump into these types of discussions and whines about larger squads and how they play the game need to be silent ... they have no legs to stand on.
If people in the country don't give a hoot ... so be it, but from this point on, they (not necessarily you) need to zip it if they feel the need to berate Joker and his squad on how they play this game.

No kidding ... Can't tell you how many times I have seen a 20+ plane mission go to crap once the goon(s) have been eliminated. You can actually see the posture of the attack change in an instant.

I saw 4 or 5 dar bars of knits at 110 and surrounding sectors last night. I don't recall anyone complaining about that on country channel. Instead they were focusing on what needed to be done to defend the base. Giving check 6s, alerting folks of the condition of the town. I ran 2 loads of supplies to the town and was straffed both times. When I left that battle had been going on for about 5 hours and it started before I got there. Meanwhile Rooks were taking Knits bases left and right.

Funny thing is, evidence is right in front of you. No, it was not a 40+ mission, it was only 17. We started with only 85 Bish and yet, people still continue to whine. I think you guys need someone that can sit there and read a map like the back of their hand, much like the people that we have.
I know most of you talk about 1v1 fights and that's all you want, when really, your chances of getting a 1v1 is getting slimmer by the month, and that's not going to get any better. We are a growing community, and our popularity is growing larger. We are getting more and more people involved in AH, and there not getting the proper training.
We do all that we can to get these people better. We ask people to go to the TA, or we try and help them as best as we can. Sad part is, most of the guys in my squad don't really want to know about 1v1s, rather, they want to learn how to defend themselves from pickers and gangers.
Uptown, I know you are a great stick. I know that Skat is a great stick. I know that 95% of your squad is great sticks, but what frightens me is, you have all of your "good people" wing up and gang just as much as you complain about it. I have said this before and I'm going to say it again, everytime I have fought you, you always have somebody with you to help you as much as you can. I remeber clearly one time when I got up to 15K, and you, Skat, lucky and a few other people we 16+ in front of me. I got killed after I engaged one and got picked by another. I was in a G14 and said on 200. "nice gang guys" and Skat said, "I didn't know that a G14 couldn't turn with a pony." It took me 5 times to finally get you guys down and had 3 people help me out.
What I'm trying to say is, you may complain very much about ganging and 1v1s, but in actuality, your not.
I think I should make this a quote so that everytime one of these post comes along, I can refer to the sig: My offer still stands, anybody who wants to fight me can, I'm not asking this for a purse fight, rather that it might help me get better in the future. I enjoy 1v1 fights, but I'm not getting that in the MA.

2 passes? I did in fact turn away and was heading back to my base,,, I was full of fuel and was on a search for the CV in the area when I ran into him in a yak, and yes I was also trying to run him out of fuel by dragging him to my field.
He took care of my spit easily and engaged the 51, however when I returned he then stayed in the ack of CV which I bravely endured until the oh so accurate puffy ack took me out twice, awarding Lynx the kills. :salute
Knowing, that he was now running to his base to land I continued the chase and yes I was thoroughly jumped, and dont mind at all. Its all in the fun. However, I did not run away no matter how many uppers came to the rescue.
So,,,, your point was....

Kudos will be delivered when it's "often".
Peoples opinion will start to change when it is "common".
Respect will be earned when it is "the norm".

Don't get me wrong, :aok I applaud what they did.
BUT I can't help but get a huge deja vu about all this.
A few years back (4-5yrs or so) a thread similar to this one was created.
One of the large muti-wing squads tossed out a challenge for anybody to try and stop them during their squad night.
They ran a mission in the MA, announced their target, and were only met by small force (4 to 1 ish) and rolled over 'em.
They then gloated for a week on the BBS about their "superior tactics" and such.
The following week a few more players got involved and met this squad in the MA on their squad night with them announcing the base they will attack with roughly 1/2 their numbers. (60 to 30 maybe? 40 to 20? I forget)
The large muti-wing squad did not capture a single base that night.
They were trounced fairly convincingly.
All of this has been done before.
Nothing about any of this is unique or new.
Not even the calling out the base beforehand bit..
And just like last time if anybody is able to mount even a "decent" defence (1/2 their numbers) they will be trounced. (just like last time)
It really is amazing how similar this thread and other recent threads are to what was happening in the community 4-5 years ago.
I find it interesting how this game tends to cycle.

You guys dont have to convince anyone here of what we already know about many players.
No matter how you play the game people will continue to complain about "the hordes" yet actively fly in their own, or complain about "alt monkeys" and continue to come in at 25k, or complain about Noe's and also participate in them... no matter how you slice it, they want it their way by having some advantage that will not lower their score, afraid to mix it up or get shot down to re up another cartoon plane.
There were some sensible posts and posters that continue to support this game in a positive fashion, but some of the BBS bullies opinions in here mean nothing and you can bet your further from the majority of people in this game than you could imagine. Most of the game degradation isn't coming from what is happening in the game, its coming from whats happening in here on the BBS and trying to leech into the game, well let me tell you that its not going to work. If this is where you need to breed your sobbing alliances, have at it, for the rest of us we will keep enjoying the game.

, they want it their way by having some advantage that will not lower their score, afraid to mix it up or get shot down to re up another cartoon plane.
There seems to be this stereotype that if your not flying with huge numbers or out to win the war, then you must be some score potato that stays at 30k afraid to be shot down.
There is a huge player base (including myself) that can only log on for just a couple sorties each day. I have no time to join/plan missions, up 3 sectors away or defend a base we just took. When I choose to take off from a base, I don't want to be the only defender there and I ALSO don't want to be along with 50 other green guys. Either situation, it isn't going to be a fun sortie. Its no fun taking off for 5 seconds only to be picked and its no fun landing with a full clip.
You guys have fun with what you do, I admire that. But ask yourself at what expense and whose?. Your actions seem to be justified because your think your playing within the "parameters" of the game and as long as you do that..your all good. The community sees these as dweeby tactics because it does affect their fun and what they like to do. The SAME exact way as you guys view spies that bust out your mission and ruin your fun. Could I?..sure! but would I?..NO.

The majority or the vocal minority who has been around a while? Isn't everyone who is a subscriber and plays the game part of the community?
I don't think there are any statistics showing how the majority of the playing community feels about many topics discussed or debated on this BBS.

Last Jokers thread had 12 pages+ and We are on Pg 9 here. Start a thread on how you feel about horde tactics and mega squads and Im sure youll get the same result.

Doesn't answer the question I asked. I'm not debating wheather NOE's (hoards) are good or bad. My question is "who is the community". I have seen various numbers tossed out that the players who are subscribers to this BBS is a very small percentage of the total player base. I don't know if that is true or not, but I have never seen that challenged.
Does the small percentage of players who frequent this BBS speak for the community and the rest are ignored, or is there some way of finding out how the entire community feels about any specific subject matter?
Like I said earlier, just some food for thought.

There were Knit Hordes all over the south last night. Our guys just went at 'em. No whining No crying, just go after them and hurt their feelings. :)

After reading Slapshots posts I got to thinking about mine. And in hindsight, I regret posting what I did and if I could erase it I would. Joker did put up a challenge and the Rooks failed to meet it head on. I want to publicly apologize to Joker for my harsh words about him.
Hopefully, Joker will do this again when I am logged on so he can shoot me dead in my arse. :salute

In my 12 plus years of flying this is what I have found about hordes. The folks in them think they are safe and stop paying attention. They rely on others to be alert. In any given horde there are about 3-4 guys afk or daydreaming. Easy easy kills. Then you get the 4 or 5 guys going after the one low con. Again the pickens are great! I'm willing to bet there are folks who will echo my thoughts here.

"pickins" are great if all you want to do is pad your score. I'd rather these guys be awake, and give me a good fight. Win or lose its the fight I'm after. Hiding in the horde they feel safe and count on other peoples skills to save them. I'd rather see them come out in the open and learn a trick or two.

Why yes there is. The point being is to get folks to realize that there are kills to be had in a hordes. You are not necessarily going to get shot down. Although your odds do increase considerably.
For the individual who criticized me on the pickens. Hordes are not the place to display your turn fighting skills.

I saw the big red Bishop dar bars, and pulled 9 other Pigs together and flew into it, several times. We fought, we shot some down, and we were shot down. Not sure what squads were in attendance, but thank you for the fun!

There is just too much of a broad sweep of issues that wrap up everyone into a classification, nothing is being identified and will not be resolved until issues are explained in detail, the "I cant have my fun" excuse isnt enough to resolve issues.

How does this affect your fun and what you like to do? If 40 guys are attacking a base and you don't want to get mixed up in it... just ignore it and up somewhere else where the action is more to your liking. It's not like you'll ever run out of other bases to fly from, and it's not like it's hard to tell where the huge mission is (hint: it's the sectors with full dar bars).
Or are you saying that everyone who logs in has an obligation to entertain you in the manner you find most pleasing, and if they don't, they're spoiling your fun? If that's the case, why aren't you spoiling their fun by playing a different way than they'd prefer you to play?
Horde missions are the easiest form of "dweeb" play to avoid, which IMHO makes them the least offensive. Now, if someone could teach me how to tell from the map which sectors are being dominated by chicken$@*# alt-monkeys who spend half the night climbing to 35,000 feet, make a few passes, and then run away as soon as they no longer have an enormous e advantage, or if HTC would fix the game so Lancs, B17s, etc. can't release bombs when the nose is pointed more than 20 degrees down, I'd say those were much more needed improvements. :rolleyes:

Ok, so you've deemed to Rooks lame because they didn't up in mass to meet your hoarde. I suspect the Nits will also be lame then. One one wants to up against 4 to 1 odds. Would you? Oh wait, that wouldn't happen because you have TWO squads with a total of 47 members :rock I really don't understand what you want from everyone. Are you looking for internet fame? Are we to post a YouTube video about this little known game called AcesHigh2 and tell about the living legend named Joker, who can mass 75% of his countries players to capture bases?
I'm amazed at the lengths you'll go to control everyones game play. I find it sad that you have to put so much time and energy in a video game. And you find it lame that folks don't take all this as serious as you. Do you need to be told that you're the greatest we've seen? Are you that wanting of admiration that you need validation in your internet achievements? I hope not because that's not going to happen.
I can't speak for anyone else here but I personally don't care who or what you consider lame. My life does not revolve around this game as yours seems to. I truely wish you the best Joker and hope you find something meaningful in real life to give you that ego boost you so desire.

So all i did was try to prove a point to all the whiners my point was that if you bring a mission at alt and tell people where you are going and what alt you will arrive at that the same whiners who said they wanted a fight would not assemble and would not fight.
Now here is the part no1 has talked about we killed not 1 hangar not even the VH.
About 10 rooks tried but were outnumbered and BTW <S> to those guys. the other 15 were on the ground in wirbles 2 in the town already so it is obvious to me that those people decided i won't fight and have fun but instead i will sit on the ground and spray 20mm and 30mm rounds into the air and eventually i will hit something.
So by my count that's about 25 rooks defending a mission that brought 29 players if these odds are too much for you i'm sorry.
My point here merely is that some people whine regardless of what you do. :salute

Filth I said I would try again with the Nits Next then on Sunday as you suggested maybe we can run one in a central area where both rooks and nits and bish can mix it up in huge furball.
Contrary to popular belief i like the fight more than most i just would like it to be just that a fight.
You know i think it was bmathis that also tried something historic that did'nt get the results we had hoped and i hope mathis continues to try becuase these fights are a great idea for all.
You know historically the war was filled with battles of great magnitude if you really want to know what it was like step up I will and so will alot of others.

Another idea is when the FSO has an off week, maybe EVERYONE could go to a SEA arena and divy up sides and do something historic. Alot of people are primed for action fridays, and that down night folks are itchin for something to do.

I really don't want to turn the MA into an FSO type event. I enjoy the FSO's when I participate. They have some fun to be offered for sure. I also enjoy the MA for what it offers. I enjoy the creativity of many missions rather than having one plan for all.

Well we did it we told you we were comin what base and what alt only a few defenders, and the whines started on 200 right away.
I'm now officially bored with the whining!!
Rooks are lame and made all sorts of excuses i don't care what base you take anything to not actually fight.

I can see Sincraft is an intelligent individual who put's a great deal of thought into every word he says.
And after all that thought and 11 pages of reading he comes up with three words it's mind boggleing his witty bantor.
It's this kind of childish behavior that really undermines the fun factor in the game, if there is anything at all that has an effect for me this is it.
