Title: DA Lake
Post by: Patches1 on March 13, 2009, 12:13:39 PM

I suppose I should know better than to post about the DA Lake considering todays' take upon the Lake.

A few years ago my former squad and I could Train in the Lake...today it has become a Cesspool of Egos.

On the other hand I have actually started going in the DA with a small group of like minded folks and fighting eachother OTD. Has been a blast and then some. Out of habit I actually had to appologize the other night as after my second fight I found myself close to my base, still had my wongs, and landed. Forgot about kills showing up... oh the embarrassment. More fun to auger and refresh.

If not landing kills in the DA is what keeps you humble.  Does it really matter either way?  :rofl

I can't believe we talk so much about the Disabled Association of AH.

If you show up early mornings, there's a pretty good crowd of regulars...  Small, but for the most part respectful.  They might pick you the first few times until they get to know you, after that it's smooth sailing.

Last three nights I have gone to the DA for awhile. So now I have been there 4 times total... lol.
We fly on a small island with 2 opposing airfields. There is no picking as we call our intended victim out as we get icon. No egos no bitter dweebery just pure fun and folks offering input on improvements. Lot of kudos on good flying too. No name in lights just mutual respect.

......................... I'm in my office can I go home and fly in the DA some??   :rofl    :aok

Does the Queen TAS twit Trigger20 still fly in there?  I recall that tool bragging how there were only 15 players in AH that could beat him in a 1v1 fight.  So I took his challenge and beat the snot out of him, fight only lasted less then 30 seconds (he died 1st turn after merge).  Showed him how there were slightly more than 15 that could whip his arse.  He refused to duel me again afterwards, ran back to the pond and picked anyone in sight. So I up at the pond, shoot a few of the TAS clowns down and landed the scalps.  Only time I've ever landed a sortie in the DA.

Agreed. I've recently become interested in the F6F and have flown on the deck at DA lake just to see how long I can survive in it, land my kills just to PO the TAS dweebs who repeatedly try to pick me.

He's just as bad.  I remembered when he made some forays into the MW arena awhile back.  He didn't stick around too long though, I guess he couldn't hang with the big boys in the main arenas.  :lol

It is a proven fact that those like you have to play in the DA because you lack even the most rudimentary skills to survive beyond taking off in the main arenas.  Which is why twits like you fly over the DA pond in 4 cannon birds and pick those planes already enaged.  I seriously doubt that you can recall one 1v1 fight you didn't run away from.

No offense meant but I read somewhere that the outside view was allowed in the da. Is this true at all? Ive only been in there for fun against fellow squaddies in the past. If its allowed then that would be a possible reason some  da players have a tough time in the ma. I stress the word possible. There could be some saran wrap incidents that we aren't aware of  as well.

Breaking rules?   :huh  What rules....bet you can't find them  :D  I asked you a simple question...or 3 and you come back calling us names and talking jibberish. I guess I hit a nerve, and the true is you CAN'T survive in the MA's. You need the crutch of flying in the F3 view because you can't learn the view system well enough to keep track of multiple enemies.

I'm not the best pilot in the world, but if you can spend the time to come to the mains for a couple of weeks and maintain a positive k/d, and k/s ratio, I'll take the time to come to the DA so you can try to kill me and get your name in lights.

The DA is.... or is suppose to be a Dueling Arena. You have your duel, then if you die you get a new plane, if you win, you bail and get a new plane and duel again. Nobody is suppose to fly away, its suppose to be a "skills" competition.

I go to the DA to have fun, I salute to people and make fun of my flying abilities. I know I cant fly worth a ^&%% but i try out the characteristics of different planes. Also DA does have f3 view but I don't use it because it hinders my experience when I go back to the MA. And cowboy I will put up my account for Ack-Ack to use for the duel..

There is no benefit to playing this entire MMO game other than your own ego. Whether its the noob who feels good to land two picks in a Tempest or the vet who now has to land 5 in a P-40  to get the same feeling, on most fundamental level the whole reason anyone pays to play this instead of playing box games against AI is the "Hey! I just beat this guy...I'm doing pretty good." feeling.

There is no ranking system for score in the DA.  Besides the well-known sillyness and game-ability of the main arena ranking system, no one cares about your K/D ratio, and it is not a measure of your ability.

There is no score in the DA.  I suppose you can look up someones score from the clipboard.  I always thought the DA was about the fight.  If you're worried about score in the DA then......

The ones that stay at the lake exclusively and fly in the cherry-picking, whording, perk-plane flying squads are VERY concerned about it, they brag about it, and congrat each other on it, fly to make sure it improves......having said all that, I find the lake is slightly more fun than the MA's, depending on what's going on

Actually landing more than 5 kills in the DA is not that easy....getting them might be but avoiding the gangs of pick tards to get hm is not. If your leaking some fuel or have had your oil blown out you will become an A#1 prime target for the people in there. Kinda like wounded fish or animal in the wild.

I was surprised to see Spacy flying a spit 16. All he ever used to fly in there was either a Temp or Zeke.

My last trip there Bish were organizing missions and recruiting people to kill all the Rook ack and vulch.      becoming a common practice there i've heard. The Tas started it many months ago.

The bombing of Lake fields is also fairly common and trying to hold a private duel with friends w/o being interrupted or invaded upon happens often.

I still go in there once in awhile to kill them all. They hate people from the main.

It's easy unless you're a headless chicken. The skill level is so incredibly low and rarely increases due to the fact that they just do the same thing over and over again. Without learning jack.

Dude.....there have sooooo many threads on furball lake. They ALL end up like this thread. That should tell you something about what the "community" thinks about it. I personally have spent endless hours in the furball area trying talk sense into those dweebs. Especially Spacy and some of the others. They don't care. They don't fly to win anything. They could care less about "dog fighting". They fly to "shoot stuff". Their idea is to fly in a hord and gang every single contact. To them it is fun to do that and see who can get the kill first. Their mentality is that of a child who plays an arcade game.

Furball lake IS NOT a "competitve area" as you might think. There is no skill involved in flying off a mountain at 5k and entering the fight with endless energy and calling out on radio...help I got somebody on my six...then having 5 or more guys come in from 10 k and pick you to death. That is not competition.

It is more of a "Gladiator areana" where there is a GANG who rome around and as soon as they see some guy in the corner duking it out they run over and all 10 of them beat up one guy. Then chant "we are the champions"...like the accomplished something.

Now furball lake is what it is. I agree don't go there unless you are up to getting ganged. But that doesn't change the fact that it is filled with skilless gang tards. The ONLY reason I go there is to practice reversals. To me it doesn't matter that I get ganged. I just practice reversing all of them one after the other. So its good for one thing to me....simple practice against drones.

OH and you won't get any of them to do a private dual. Don't even ask. All you will get is a bunch of "1v1 proves nothing..thats not real fighting...etc..."

Here is what happens when I go there

Agent ups from field flys in at 5k...trolls around looking for a merge....2 turns later the guy is dead.

Now over on rook side the radio goes:
Agent is here...OMG....Oh S. .....in the k4..he is knit. Lets all gang him cause he is one of those MA guys who thinks we are dweebs.

I up again fly over at 5k. I can see them coming. ALL of them. So I end up fighting zeeks and diving temps. I get killed almost immediatly.

This repeats a few times.

No I up and stay off the sides looking for a 1/2/3 vs me fight. No takers. I get close enough to bait one out. The min he looses his gang tard friends icons he turns and flys back. Now they won't fight at all unless they can all gang one player.

Now I have two choices...get a dweeb ride like a temp or niki. Fly to 20k and spend my time BZ picking.....BOOOORRRRIIIINNNN GGGG.
or
Fly in my friendly hord and fight for kills in the gang........BOOOORRRIIINNNGGG and STUUPPPPPIDDDD

I have NEVER heard anyone say on the radio....back off I got this guy...with only a few exceptions of players who know me. I have NEVER seen anyone take it upon them self to fly high over a fight and GUARD the 1v1 against the pickers.

Title: Re: DA Lake

Precisely. Defensive ACM in furball area = WEP/100% at all times - Jerk stick around not even looking back while crying out on vox. Offensive = turn tracers off, up nik, spray and hope for your cherry to come good.

i just gota set the record straight that im not a fan of the average DA mentality either, gang and ho. im just trying to say that it provides fun for a lot of people even though it may not be the right way to play. why eliminate it if its fun for them? Im sure you know more than a few guys in this game that would be more than happy to do 1v1 battles. lately i have been spending a lot more time in the ma because i do think its a better quality environment as far as ACM goes. all im doing is saying why get rid of the DA, do you really want all the mindless dweebs in the ma anyways? i may have been sticking up for DA but i just hope you don't class me in the bunch of pickers and hoers out there, because i do appreciate ACM and am always trying to learn how to become a better AH stick. just dont try and change players into what they are not, if they dont want to learn the depths of this game and just want to point and shoot, why not let them be, they pay 15 bux a month to get the oportunity to point and shoot, let them be, just let them be.

I rolled a tempest there one night a few months back just to prove a point to the kiddies.  Landed over 10 kills each run, laughing at them the whole time.  Skyrock was there for the last few, we had a good laugh over it.

Furball lake is like the 1 foot deep kiddie pool when the deep pool is 10 feet away.  Why splash around with you swimmies on in 1 foot of water when you can do a header off the high dive?  People who hang exclusively in the DA have issues.

And another thing...

I have repeatedly campaigned on vox and chat in DA about flying with wingmen. I had a lengthy conversation with TAS about flying as wingmen. I reasoned that if they want to fly in DA as a squad then fine. Just engage as wingmen pairs and not as a whole gang. I said if they have 10 guys on then split up in pairs and go rip up the lake. Noooo problem there.

In fact if that is what they did they would learn something and alomst everyone would have respect for them. They would find that there are many many players who would love to do 2v2. And that almost anyone would love a 1v2.

If the lake was a place where more wingmen flying went on that would be just awsome.

Furball lake is a source in instant action..we all want that at times...I do. It is possible to make the lake a better place. But it will take a lot more players to visit it more often. Currently it is controlled by one single squad. They have the whole AH community at bay.

I just don't understand why more squads haven't crashed the party and kicked the bullys off the playground.

We have called the teacher and she just waved and said play nice. I say its time to dispense some good ole "playground justice"

I aint afraid of no stinking bully gang. If anybody want to dispence some ownage PM me anytime I am on and I will wing......let the gladiator games begin!!!!!!!

Generally speaking, you need to be good to have an ego.
Wrong-o!  All you need is to think your good to have an ego, no matter how wrong you may be. ;)

The Lake is an interesting place, that is for sure.  I went in there expecting the players to be similar to the MA's, I had a rude awakening.  The people being praised as "awesome sticks" were all flying perk rides sitting 5k above the fight.  Not to mention that once you get into a knife fight with them, they are next to useless.  Killed one who was in an F4U-4 with a B-Pony, man was he mad.  Not my fault he blew all his "E" in arguably the best ride in the game...

Also, the amount of people that pick enemy aircraft that already have a friendly on their six (who worked hard to get there, by the way) is staggering.  I actually chewed someone out over it 'cause they just happened to be the one that put my over the edge (felt bad afterwards, ended up being a nice guy).

I've landed kills several times there before, usually because I'm out of ammo or fuel and I love landing.  Not the landing kills part, the landing the aircraft part, not sure why, but I find it immensely fun and always try to make it as smooth as possible.

Long story short, the MA is infinitely better than the DA in every way, particularly the people flying (skill and character) and the challenge of the fight.  I'll still stop in the DA when I'm looking for a quick fix, but nothing beats the MA! :aok

I went in there last night too. Upped my 38j and killed 3 or 4 then one of the 3 birds over me made contact while I was maneuvering with another. I was able to keep them off for some time though. They do lack a lot of the basics.

Blow me

If you fly under the name '1wing' in the DA , you are going to wish Skuzzy banned you first. I've seen you fly first hand and you have a better chance of winning the lottery than beating AKAK in a fair fight.

Since you have failed to tell me when you want to receive said beating, I really don't think that makes me the coward, does it child?

I wonder at this point if 1wingover realized he just locked himself into the tiger's cage with no way out.  Would explain his lack of reply as to when he wants to have his arse handed back to him.

I hope u were not replying to me? We only had one fight in a p-38 then after our first fight u said u had to go to get something to eat... It was a quick fight in ur favor I do admit... I gambled on a quick snap shot that I missed ,but was five feet from ending in my favor in half a turn... I do not think u were replying to me since the story was so off ,but could be...Plus I am not TAs..  Any how the duels I have done have always been best 2 out of 3...First person picks a plane then the other person picks a plane...  :salute
