Title: After the war
Post by: Penguin on March 28, 2009, 08:46:05 PM
Why not be able to interact with the surroundings?  You could have a house out somewhere in the fields, you know, come home, sit down, have dinner.  I mean, pilots didn't just fight 24/7.  It would add an interesting concept to the game, and you would be able to take a load off.  Would it work?

Sorry for adding something to wishlist.  I meant that you would be able to go and plan somewhere where you can't get killed.  I was thinking of adding something like the ability to get completely smashed on whisky.  It's like the O'Club, but it allows a place to think.  And maybe something like Microsoft Word and youtube on there.  You would be able to store plans for missions there, too.  Imagine planning an entire mission completely smashed with your T-34 parked in the door.

Wish granted!!! POOF  It's called the tower you know that place you go everytime to engage someone.  Sit in your little chair and your computer in the tower and plan all the missions you want...there done.

But just think guys! You could go home... to your flock of sheep!

Your wife, a sheep! could be making some great dinner for you! Your pet sheep, running around in the yard baa'ing its way happily!

Just sheep... and sheep... and sheep!

Jeez nice guys. I like how someone posts something and you get ridiculed for it. I thought it was kind of a nice idea, and maybe make the game a little more dynamic. Maybe have squadron airfields or something to that effect to where opposing squadrons could attack etc, maybe like a capture the flag event

So, unless you agree you should post nothing at all?

You're getting flamed for this Penguin, yes, but it's nothing against you. Many others before you have got flamed for this sort of request before.

It's a gameplay thing. This is not the type of game for what you've asked. There are many many RPG's out there that simulate the type of world you are requesting. This is not an RPG. And I'm glad of it...they have their place in gaming, and that market is oversaturated already.

Before we could even come close to what you are asking, we would first need player control independent of aircraft/vehicle. And then, truly think about what you are asking. You want a realistic world where the pilot or tanker can go into houses, and eat? Or drive a tank up to a house and go inside and plan missions? You do realize I hope that anything AH implements like this would be done extremely poorly compared to other games that have had features like this for years. Why would anyone interested in a "virtual world" play this game when other games would have vastly superior virtual worlds?

My prediction is that you're soon going to find that Aces High is not the game for you. And that's fine. It just comes down to the "culture of essentialism" in this game; AH provides the essentials of air, ground, and naval combat with no frills in gameplay, role playing, or graphics. It's great for what it does, and great for those interested especially in air combat, but don't expect too much. There are other games for that.

The only way I'd even CONSIDER this is if the next time you flew you had a "hangover" and couldn't fly right... Then I might get a couple people.  :devil

If this somewhat strange wish is granted, can I, in enemy teritory, drive my tank up to a house and pillage the women?

Yes I'd love to come to my virtual house after a long day of virtual combat, and have my virtual wife nag me to death.   :D

We could have sim-markets in the towns at fridays aswell, buy some sim-cheese and sim-whine.
You'd be able to stroll down the market with your pilot, and use your .45 if the price isn't to your liking
