I think there should be about double the manned guns at all the bases, AND have a few at each strat target.

The abuses of "milk runnin" and airfield vulching get a bit old when their is no manner of able defense.

I think that's a terrific, wonderful, stupendous, excellent, magnificent, superb, breathtaking, amazing, astonishing, fantastic, marvelous idea.

What makes you think a manned gun is any harder to kill than an auto gun?

Are the additional manned guns going to replace auto guns or add to them?  If you replace auto guns with manned guns and there is no one to man them then you are effectively making a base more vulnerable.

The only advantage to manned guns is they stay dead for a much shorter period.  However, in a situation where "there is no manner of able defense" it probably will not help.

Actually, the VH does not stay down any longer than manned guns do.  Wirbles, Ostis, and M-16s would be just as available.

But really, it's a terrific, wonderful, stupendous, excellent, magnificent, superb, breathtaking, amazing, astonishing, fantastic, marvelous idea.

They are a smaller target compared to the autos, they also do seem to take more ammo to kill :salute

Yeah! who do those Milk runnin' SOB's think we are?

I do kinda/sorta like the idea of having a few manable 5 inchers at the strat targets. I know I would like to be able to defend our factories with a howitzer. On the other hand, I like my bomb runs nice 'n milky the way it is.

Sounds like a good idea....

I don't think the bases need any additional guns, but perhaps 1 or two additional guns in town (or replace the one in center of town).

i am all for having manned guns in the town as long as they are the same type as on the fields.........in my opinion there should under any circumstances NEVER be defensive 5" AA guns anywhere near airfields.  nothing makes me madder than being killed my the manned 5" guns on a CV......

on a tangent, i think all AUTO puffy ack should be replaced with mannable 5".

got oil popped again last nite, flyin past a cv at 12k on the way to somewhere else in a fighter mindin my own bizniss...

cant even remember the last time I've taken damage in bombers actually attacking a cv..

i really dont see the purpose of the auto puffy.. i guess it gives away the position of cv's to people not even looking for them (like myself last nite).. thats really the only purpose I can see..

replacing the puffy's in strat factories with manned 5" might also spice up the toolsheddin stuka runs :t

It is a feeble attempt to defend an otherwise undefended fleet from buffs.  But yes, it is very handy for finding a cv when you really are not looking down.

The irony of that statement is that Fighters feel like they get hit harder and more often than flights of bombers.  If I'm in bombers and ack starts goin off, I shrug, if I'm in a fighter, I take evasive action.
