Can anyone from HTC give me the formula or method in which Squad Rankings (especially Fighter) are figured?
I've always been under the presumption that they were done the same way as individual scores. Basically add up the individual rankings of each of the 5 categories and the lowest total number is #1. But apparently this is NOT the case. Please inform. :aok

I'm curious about this too. All the sections, except fighter, seem to be calculated in the same manner as Shawk pointed out above. I always try to note the top fighter squad stat breakdown in our monthly squad newsletter. I don't mention any squad names but it's nice to see what kinda of numbers it takes. Often the squad with the best overall Fighter rank clearly doesn't have the best rankings for the separate fighter sections. I've even seen fighter rankings change months after the camp ended and those who were ranked "too high" get knocked down.
I've been hesitant to post about this for fear of it looking like a witch-hunt against another squad - there is enough unpleasant behaviour already on the boards.
So in fear of opening a can of worms, can someone share how this is calculated?

No, actually this has been screwed up for quite some time. I can give particulars if ya'll wish. I've seen WoT be scored as #1 in fighter before when by my calculations we should not have been. And Muppets should have been #1 Fighter squad on several occasions when they got shown as 3rd or higher.
Actually The Top 2 shown right now in fighter shouldn't even be in the top 5. Just an observation.
I guess my point is, if your gonna score something, shouldn't it be correct?

It looks right to me. The first four cats being averaged and overall points being cumulative... Jokers Jokers smoked your squad by more than twice the fighter points which more than makes up for the other cats they are weak in.
Sucks to be timid in fighter mode if you want #1 fighter rank as a squad! :aok

So from reading your post I understand that to you bombing in the most important thing.
But what do you think about thous fighters that escort and protect the bombers? If it's a large mission, like the ones your talking about, like the ones that do a lot for your country, don't you think you would need fighters there to protect the heavy bombers?
Also what about thous fighter pilots that like going on missions, but don't fly bombers, like me. One of my favorite things about aces high is flying missions with my squad, by missions I don't mean only the ones that go NOE and capture an enemy town, I'm talking about where we have to fight our way though to get to the enemy CV and destroy it. I'm a fighter pilot and I believe shooting down enemy fighters is one of the most important things because your taking out the enemys who will shot down your bombers. Air Superiority is one of the most important factors and it is a fighter that will help you archive it. Don't get me wrong, i do fly bombers when needed, but from my point of view the fighters are much more important.

I put it down to trans atlantic point/score tax that always adds +20 places on The Few's squad score. Kind of like a golf handicap.

TA because you need it. Continue with your challenge and I will state the terms and name the aircraft and conditions.
Now go back and do it the way I suggested and which I believe is right. Take each individual k/d k/s k/h hit% and average them. Im not going to take the time. It is possible that all the 0s from people not flying is screwing things up.

Well if you look at from both the potential outcomes, factor in wind, figure in what either will gain from a win or loss, get signed pre-nups, run some simulations with various types of AI planes with varying loadouts...

The original question is still valid, if we are going to have a score system then it should at least be understandable. I was in a squad that decided it wanted to be the top squad. One of the squad members chewed the scoring system over six ways to sunday and came up with a gameplay set of tactics that would increase everyone's score. Without any major increase in stick skills everyone in the squad got into the 100-to 300 range. There were a few more "tricks" which may have got the score into 50-100 range but to get any lower it became clear better skills were the only way. Any pilot scoring 1- 50 is just plain good at the game. Shawk has been on top for a long time, and having fought him a few times there is no doubt he has earned his spot. My score is not relevant to me because the way I enjoy playing doesn't fit with the scoring system.
Any good pilot can kill any other good pilot on any given day, so what? these cries of " I'll own you!!" are silly. If you want to kill Shawk then fight him and watch what he does, find the weakness and exploit it. Of course you will get killed a lot learning and screw up you score learning, but that is the price you pay!!!

You're not a very good betting man are you? I'm sure Chalenge thinks he's good but anyone that has run against him knows the only thing he knows how to do with any proficiency is run. The term "Stealing candy from a baby" was probably coined by someone that ran into Chalenge and easily shot him down.

Well, theres only 1 way to find out isnt there..However, I fear that Lyric doesnt have the nut sac to meet in the DA.
On a side note, he yet again has done his job spamming threads with his useless and off topic comments. I would suggest he go back to doing his door-to-door magazine subscription salesman job. It might be the most productive thing he does all day.

FYI its not a fair fight at all unless both players are in the same room with identical setups ;)
Player A has a good gaming rig with a nice monitor, pedals, joystick and throttle control.
Player B use a 15" laptop and mouse.
How would a duel between those two settle who is the better pilot?

This reminds me of my schools days when everyone formed a circle and started running their mouths to get 2 guys to fight. :rolleyes:
I've flown with both these gentlemen in the past and it's always been alot of fun. The problem here is, Shawk and Chalenge are more alike then not, as far as the way they approach the game. Both are thinkers with exceptional skill and are extreme competitors.
Me being a rook and without a squad, I'll usually lookup Shawk on the map and go where he is because he's more then likely to be in the thick of things. He's a good leader and has a good eye of whats around him. But so does Chalenge.
Chalenge is a great guy too. One of the few in the game that gives me a call when I haven't been logged on in awhile.He's going for #1 this tour and I believe he is the 1st Sick Puppy to be this close to the rank in the overall. I wish him the best of luck in that and I'm rootin' for ya bro :aok
Both Shawk and Chalenge are, or have been in the past, a pleasure to fly with. I'd hate to see either one to have to lose a duel. Imo duels are silly and don't really prove awhole lot.

Aww dude, it's cool. Some people play for score.. I don't care. Sure the rank system is gamey, just look at Bparker's fighter rank: 10 hours, every kill in a perk ride. That's all you need to do to be top fighter rank. But it's not that big of a deal, unless you are vulching shades etc. Bparker is playing within the parameters of accepted gameplay, gameyness aside. I'm assuming you are doing the same.

Aww dude, it's cool. Some people play for score.. I don't care. Sure the rank system is gamey, just look at Bparker's fighter rank: 10 hours, every kill in a perk ride. That's all you need to do to be top fighter rank. But it's not that big of a deal, unless you are vulching shades etc. Bparker is playing within the parameters of accepted gameplay, gameyness aside. I'm assuming you are doing the same.
I vulched one time this tour from an F6F and it was the only kill that sortie in attack mode. All my fighter sorties (except two P51 sorties) have been Tempest or Typhoon sorties from a field under attack and a lot of those have been disappointing dweebs augering suicide porks.
I offered to take these two into the TA for some ACM training but they obviously dont need feel they need it. :D

You didn't read where I said things like "It's cool" or "I don't care" ? I merely used you as an example. You and I know all your fighter sorties were in perk rides. Those 30+ eny sorties are great, but they were in attack mode. We understand how it works. I wasn't being critical. Like I said, just using you as an example since those stats are current and easy to see. I'm not saying you're a bad guy or not a good stick, just pointing out what is obvious to those who understand how the rank system works.

No trash talk. Just two guys having fun. I've DA'd quite a few of your squad members, SkyRock, Mazz, Scotch, You, and others. I won some, and lost some. No need to point out here who one and lost. We all know what happend, and I film most of my DA matches. Truth be told it doesnt matter to me all that much, I just like the 1v1 matchup. But, lately its become a grudge match which i dislike. Thats why I only gave m00t 1 flight because he was more worried about trash talkin then having fun.

Well, guess what, I was bingo fuel and had like 60 50 cals left after killing your squaddie you left to die several times. You in FACT ran to ack on several occasions, and when I did land "with no fuel" after watching you run for over 15 minutes, you were indeed smoking from my guns running away. You only turned around when I headed to my fleet.
Also I in FACT had "0" squaddies anywhere near me. So AGAIN your just twisting the truth.
Now, if we really wanna talk FACT's here...I'll post the entire film for everyone to see. Because I do in FACT have it. :aok

Yes I know what he means I was hoping he would figure it out. OK last clue. Same principle as I explained for a capture but some what reversed & add a target that pays the most divedends with the next to the biggest Punch a plane can carry. I don't think I can make it any easier short of step by step instructions.

My mistake for pointing anything out(was mistake on stats anyways, I know you won a couple), but I was trying to clue you in that m00t kills most in even duels. Seems like you think you have something over his head and are the one fueling the fire. But in this cartoon game, good fights heal all wounds and it's good to hear you are enjoying and wanting that more and more.

Chalenge had 4 kills and maybe a radiator or pilot wound. SHawk would land too! He didn't do anything SHawk wouldn't do.
And as for his squaddie's death.... That squadie did the same thing all those NO NAME WOT guys do.......... Protect #1 guy's score. Yet, knowing popapup, I know he said "go land you fool" instead of what a WOT says.... "I'll protect your rank bro, go land"
And that was a pretty boring 16 minutes.... 1 ace and 2 clowns trying to capture a base...... Was that what I just watched?
Or was it 1 ace being abusive to a newb, putting him in an LVT and having him float along for 20 minutes...... 45 minutes after you guys took town down. Good leadership.
