Title: Chuck Norris and aviation
Post by: Russian on April 24, 2009, 11:22:23 AM

Chuck Norris doesn't request clearances, he states intentions.

When Chuck Norris taxies onto the runway, incoming traffic is told to hold short

Chuck Norris is never off of glideslope, the glideslope is off of Chuck Norris

Chuck Norris is the only person ever to land on runway 37.

Hijackers squawk 7400 when Chuck Norris is on board

An ejection seat is not safe until Chuck Norris gets out of it.

Chuck typically marks targets with kamikaze predators he controls with his IPOD.

permanent TFR surrounds Chuck Norris...no one is safe.

Chuck Norris once shot down a German fighter by simply pointing at it and saying "bang".

They never dropped atom bombs on Japan, they dropped Chuck Norris out of a B-29 and he punched the ground.

Havnt you seen him in the home gym commercial?

I'd say he's celebrating his diversity nowadays. If he was any lighter in his Loafers he'd be prancing on air. And the Lisp? :lol

Runway numbers are given with the compass alignment

e.g. Runway aligned 140 and 320 degrees (would be 14 and 32)

There's no 370 degrees, it stops at 360 *smile*

Yeah that had me boggled for a minute. I knew they went through 360 degrees but I was still saying to my self..."alright..what am I not getting?".

But then, would there not be a runway 36 as it would be runway 0?

You and the rest are not alone at all.

The runway 37 was my favorite one of the bunch too, and to my friends who were in the mood for jokes this weekend (but clueless to aviation) I had to explain the runway 37 = 370 degrees thing.  Was a great joke though for those who understood it off the bat.  And a decent one for those who needed to be briefly educated.

It is in nautical terminology, why would you waste your time dealing with that 360* full circle garbage

in aviation a north heading is expressed as 360.  Not 0.  Runways facing due north are labelled 36.  No such thing as a runway zero, or being told to turn to a heading of 0.  lol

and... what happens when the runaway has a heading of 36 degrees?

It's heading would be either 030 or 040, making it runway 3 or 4

Would be 4 because of rounding methinks.

The true heading doesn't matter, the runway numbers are based on magnetic heading so it would depend on the amount of declination.  If it were 36 degrees magnetic then the runway would be 4.

(In International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and some United States military (such as Edwards Air Force Base) airports, numbers for runways less than 100° include the leading "zero", for example, Runway Zero Two or Runway Zero One Left. However in the United States at most civil aviation airports, numbers for runways less than 100° are often given as single digits)
