Ever have one of those months where you just cant seem to do anything right
Last tour was horrible for me. This month is shaping up to be the same way.
Just cant seem to consistantly get it all together for more then a flight or two.
The planes arent twisting and turning the way I want them to. Havent been able to aim or hit anything worth a damn.
Just been in a major slump where I feel like Im moving in slow motion while everyone else is at mach speed.
Im loosing fights I should easily be winning.
And last night when I was doing ok. I augered
It aint the game. It aint the players. Its me.
Im in a major slump
And its getting to be VERY frustrating.

Dred forget the stats, fly for fun don't keep track of the number stuff, just fly by the seat of your pants for a while. :salute

I have one of those months more than half the year :D lol just keep your head up bro
:salute

I hear ya Dred. My aim has been horrible for a few weeks. I even missed a hanger with an 1800kg Stuka bomb Friday night.

I've never been a stats guy or even cared about them.
But its alot more fun killing then getting killed and more fun to land kills then it is to plow into the ground.
I know when my game is off without looking at stats. And my game is wayyyy off.
I know it wont be forever. and at some point its all going to suddenly click again.
Its just that for not its very frustrating.
In the meantime I guess Ill just have to stock up on headsets and add some reinforcement brackets to the top of my desk

I hear ya on that. Try flying .303/Hispano planes all tour then go to .50 cal planes like I'm doing. My hit % is now half what it used to be....but wait till I get more practice in :t

Ups and downs, slumps and plateaus, heart pounding achievement, bitter frustration. When you engage in endeavors that challenge and delight you. That require effort, study, practice, skill. These are the feelings that assail us. Persevere, find your mojo.
Lol, dramatic huh? Well you got me in a 2 at times, what? 3 of us on one last night. I blew the opening on the rollings scissors and flew out in front of you like a blimp on a windy day. Boom, in the tower. That should have given you a small smile at the least.
And yes I'm having one of those tours now, thank you very much.

Hang in there Dred.... without peaks and valleys things would be rather boring. I had an absolutely horrible first week this tour....dying a lot and doing so to some really horribly behaving people(doubly frustrating). I have gone off on a streak the last couple of days and feel better... same will happen to you.

There are a lot of new guys on DREDIOCK... don't worry you'll catch up.

Yesterday morning, Tralfazz in his Typhoon and me in my Yak. We went round & round, and even though I whiddled away at him and eventually got him down, my aim was absolute crap.
We agreed to have a go at it again, same planes so I hung around until he came back. Again, I saddled up on him eventually, firing short bursts but with very unsteady aim. Just a lucky shot set Tralfazz's Typh on fire.
He decided to take a Yak9U up, so I hung around some more. Now that was a nerve-racking fight, but still my aim was bad, and my flying was starting to deteriorate as we were doing some extreme low manuvers. Several times it appeared we were both going to get shot down by trees as we stalled here & there, but finally I wallowed onto his six enough to throw enough rounds at him, taking off some vital surfaces, eventually leading to my third kill.
For me, two cups of coffee and stall fighting just don't mix very well. Nerves, adrenaline, and caffiene... wow. :O

I find that "one of those months" is the norm for me. Accordingly I got real good with JB weld. I literally broke both my throttle and joy stick once on same sortie (snaped the X36 throttle I hit it so hard (no clue how I didnt break hand) then swung around with the JS still "attached" to my hand (this was by accident) and tomahawked it into corner of desk....got busted throttle on desk and busted JS hanging from my hand and FSO in 45 min....thank got for the 5 min JB weld :aok
Obviously mellowed out a bit since then but its always frustrating when you go south for a bit...of course now I realize that "south" is the norm for me and I just enjoy the occasional "trip north" when it happens.

I always seem to be in a perpetual state of suck.Since I got out of the hospital my time online is kinda limited but log on to lift my spirits which results in someone else's score goes up.I blame it on the narcotics

I seem to have one of those months almost evry day...I did actually land 4 last night in one sortie. Unfortunately 3 of them were a flight of b-24s that were gunned so poorly he didn't even hit my 51 while I was dead 6 and 600 out killing the last bomber. So I guess it really wasn't a legit 4.
:frown:

Dred what i do sometimes to get out of a slump is go sit and watch tv and forget about plane game for a couple of hours or a day. Then i always get the urge to come back and fly the 38 and i do good agian and it brings me out of the slump
-
I don't know about "month" but I'm certainly having a lousy few days after about 3 days off. None of my rounds connect with anything. In frustration I shoot the entire spectrum from tail to nose to lead, wasting ammo, never any sparks. And last night I fought an A-5 that had a tighter turn radius than a zero, better climb rate and acceleration than my 109. Literally, this guy's nose was facing me the entire way through my turn like he was an F-22 with vector thrust. I literally let go of my stick and just watched in disbelief.
When it rains it pours. Seriously, I couldn't write some of the things that have been happening to me lately if I was Tom Clancy.

The plane not doing its thing, could also be a spiking joystick you may want to recalibrate it. Happened to me.

Dred I went through a tuff streak myself not too long ago, one thing I realized is the country environment makes allot of difference, If Rook were getting rolled my sorties didn't end very well even when I thought I used good SA, So the situation may not be You just having a tuff run, it may be elements beyond your control. :)

Some of that maybe. But It's not beyond the norm for me to be outnumbered.
Though sometimes lately I am wondering if someone placed a neon sign over my icon saying its me. LOL I've seen a few planes seemingly break off fights to come after my plane specifically.
No. My flying is off, my reaction is off. Everything seems to be off.
Killer part two is the first two days of this tour I thought the slump was over. I was flying almost Godlike. It was like I could do no wrong.
Now I can do no right. and when I have the last couple days...I've augered.
Maybe Hitech stashed a few bricks in my plane LOL

I always fall back on the Ki84 when I am slumping... Although, been slumping a bit so far this tour, but I've been putting a lot of time in on the 109G2 in preparation for this months FSO.

I've had months start horrendous and then up being great. Hang in there.
