So there I was in LWB, entering on the Knight side.
Knights heavily outnumbered perk bonus 2.27, Bish ENY 21. Knight moaning about the numbers. You would think every help would be appreciated now.
And what reply do I get when I greet Knightland on countrychannel ? A rant about sideswitchers like me that "screw this game" :lol

On that note...

My guess is OG the "original gonad".

Allow me to extend a warm welcome and an invitation to fly w/ me any time you are knit.
Don't let a moron or two bother ya' none.
(make sure you say hello as well Ratfink)

These ppl are the spice of the game. When there is down time climbing out, etc, etc, it is fun to toy with their wee brains and watch them self destruct. It's good clean fun.

Now I think I'm reluctant :noid, seeing how Lushe… a Trainer was received ;) ;)
-
This Knight welcomes Lusche anytime. I would rather have snail slime on the Bishop & Rook than on us knights. Sorry you got a bad reception Sir. Shame on you folks who behaved in this way!
:salute

My expierence was about the same. Few Hellos and an invite from the Bishops. And the Knits. An open window on a cold night, with no blanket! :x Have fun VF-6 thanks for the heads up. :salute

Don't worry, I'm sure he didn't bring his sheep for such a quick switch. When they see our sheep, they will never want us to leave. They will be smitten.
Oh, and not to mention Hartmann's legs....
-
Wow really?
I switch almost every day and sometimes twice or 3 times a day. I never get these comments any more.
-
It was just the irony of the situation that was cracking me up. Complaning about low numbers, and then complain about someone fighting ON their side. O would have understood if he complained because someone switched to the "winning" horde. But this way...
But that's not entirely suprising. That guy's CO (yes, one of the three mentioned names above) did yesterday explain to us that so many squads did leave Knights because nobody porks ords anymore...
-
I end up having to check to see what country I'm in every time I fly. Generally don't hear anything anymore although last week the 80th were accused of hording by both sides in the same fight as all 4 of us that were on switched sides halfway through because the numbers were getting uneven.
I was quite proud of that :)

PM sent Luschy...

In the MW arena the other day, one of the Knits was carrying on how the 'furballers' were ruining the game and threatened to switch sides and hunt each 'furballer' down. When I told him to switch and I'd be waiting for him at a nearby base, he replied with "well, not you but the others I will."

lol the VF-6 were in MW last night... the banter was funny :)

Your avatar needs dental work! :D

Yeah it was. Unfortunately for me though I made a big mistake and shot a couple of The Class Acts down only to have them all mass report me and had my chat privs suspended as a result for the remainder of the night.

that's kinda funny.
I guess a squadron called the petulant crybabies would be the most polite folks you could meet using the this example.

I've seen little to no class in that squad. Names mean nothing anymore.

sad way to treat guests *shakes head* I've PMd several players who dont usually fly nits to apologise for our idiots (last time was a AK or A8, cant remember). I shouldnt have to.

Lusche, feel free to tune 171 vox anytime your flying knight. While "we" {knights} dpnt have a corner on the market we do have more then our fair share of idiots. As for the classless target drones, I hope you pointed this out to skuzzy.
-
now thats funny a knit in midwar whining about furballers ruining the game :rofl why was someone defending a base

I just want to take this time to say that I have never seen Bishops behave so badly to the Snailman........ :salute

ty for your invitation.
And no, I didn't take it that serious. I was amused by the irony, not angry. I didn't even see it as a personal attack at all :)
-
I'm mainly Bish due to my Squad affiliation. However, on my free time I fly either Knit or Rook usually to associate with some of the fellow racers or due to some ignorance and lack of support of my fellow countrymen. Mostly, I haven't had an issue except for those that have called me a cheater. Foremost, it's my frigging $14.95 and I'll do as I wish. It is a shame though how all sides have these morons that name call and bantor regularly on 200 or PM's. I enjoy flying with all and appreciate it when I learn from some of the best out there and also give away a trade secret or two myself. Salute to those of you who are respectful of others and return it in kind. Bugger off to the morons.

Tho,I think boobs that do that kind of stuff would read stuff like this and make a change.I just fear those kind of people don't even read the bulletin boards.

Some folks just plain don't get it. I've seen this type on all three sides but for the most part the folks are fine. Like I always say, "Good and bad on all sides".

so ya know whatcha do? when one of those whiners needs your help....and they will not hesitate to ask you for help, if they need it in a fight...........fly nearby, then just leave.....let em die. :devil :t

people will always find something to squeak about :D

My squad and I had the same bad experience with the knits, switched over to fly with the JG guys, and by the way JG is a class act :salute, but there were a few knits that were, well lets say a little less sociable.

Unless you shoot one of their members down then the entire squadron will mass report you. Yep, real 'Class Acts'.

Yep, Stampf's JG11 guys are a stand up group of players and not to be confused with those oxymorons, Class Act/JG54.

The group you are referring too are Storch's old squad....Storch has resurfaced under a different cpid that I can't remember right now and is in that squad as well....and you are right...the name "Class Acts" is not what i would use to describe many in that squad....

Bwahahaha!
This comment just floors me. I haven't "porked" a damn thing in almost a year LOL.
Hell I'd rather watch paint dry.
Anyone worth a grain of salt in this game, knows that the great majority of "side switchers" are there to fight red, and
are probably thankful to see some of us show up, particularly when the odds are against them.

I dont know tour for Precision is going well. Good to meet alot of folks. Porking should e done, and I do it regularly. No matter what side im on. I would also encourage more to do it. Blow watermelon up, kill red thingies. Fairly simple
-
Caught flack tonight for switching after ENY had me steamed by the usual suspects...Damage Inc.
-
Since I am now squadless, I have been flying abroad. I've just been jumping around from lowest # to lowest #. I've been on nit mostly because they're outnumbered way more often than any other country. I have had a blast flying with 71 Squadron RAF, the 38 dweebs from vox 138 who usually reside in nitland (because they are always low#) and JG11. in response to a few posts back, yes JG11 is an excellent group. The knights have a few real respectable squads.

lol most porkers do not kill red thingies.... they fly past a fight to shoot buildings and such. Very boring individuals.
-
I hate the knights, except 71st,JG11,JG2, and JG26 the rest just get on my nerves with retarded comments probably similar to what they were saying to Snailman. Pigs on the Wing is glad to have anyone come knight and fly on 189 with us :salute

Now, now fellas that's not always true. My usual tactic is is pork a base for no other reason then to draw attention from a furball or a capped field. I like to pick the vulchers coming off their field after I've taken down their ords and dar. One high P51 can keep several bad guys down and close to home allowing friendlys the time to get up. It is anything but boring trying to avoid LA7 ho shots and out turning spits. :)

:aok Best way to kill a cap, take the fight to there base, one guy can kill a base cap or fur ball or just pass over with mid high bombers works the same, its like moths to a light.

I switched sides a couple of times last camp. Never expected any hello's and wasn't disappointed. I mean why should they.
Addendum: I pondered on this a bit. I wonder if they felt you came over for the cheap perk rides instead of your stated goal to help. Could certainly appear that way.
It also got me to thinking about another factor in game play. Many bish, if not most, don't really care if the perk rides increase fairly high. Although they do when it's 29 eny. The reason being is they enjoy capturing bases. Ironically, the ENY feeds the idea of base capturing. Let's say you're a furballer. Now if the enemy is now flying cheap perk planes and you can't up your favorite 15 eny plane (FU-1a here) what do you do. Well you join missions with A8s, and other big cannon planes (forget the eny of the 110). Safety in numbers thingy. I mean why would you want to get b and z'd to death by 3 cheap tempests.
-

Would that matter? Where is the difference? I came over and started to defend his fields, shooting down his enemies in droves. Ain't that help?

No.
I get my perks from killing enemy planes.
This guy's squad get their perks from base captures & winning the war resets
We don't compete in any way :P

I dont mind and have no issues with those players or squads that rotate each tour. What annoys me are those fellas that do it on a daily basis. They truely are the defination of "self serving", imo.

And what exactly "annoys" you?
Just for the record - 2 tours ago I was almost exclusively flying bish, last tour I was switching several times a day and this tour i haven't decided on my "style" yet.

that;s amazing, the way knight get overrun in every arena :furious

Kill the SITH ! :rofl

Thought of that too. To me it doesn't matter. Same result, you kill bad guys. But maybe it's the principle or perhaps a degree of difference. Did you come over for the cheaper perk planes? If so maybe it's viewed as more of a self interest than I want to help the Knights. However, same result. Except maybe you had more fun. Self interest is not a bad thing. It allows you to enjoy the game the way you want. If you didn't do that you would probably not enjoy the game.
-
Three of us from Most Wanted switched to Nit last night to do our little part in trying to even the fight out, had fun flying with Lute and some newb called wrag. We were made to feel very wellcome, apart from one guy who pm'd me to ask what was wrong with our squad, three of the guys were afk for ever so never made the switch. This guy was trying to get something going over the fact that not all switched, strange because not 20 minutes earlier the same guy had been on 200 asking for people to switch to amke it even.
BTW Lute that smell was only when wrag moved his legs !!

Yeah as if everyone was playing out of anything else but self interest in having fun however they please.I dont mind and have no issues with those players or squads that rotate each tour. Self serving to the point of being the best agents of country balancing. As opposed to opposing even fights by sticking to the higher number countries because it doesn't respect some completely random arbitrary, like "1 switch per day only".

I'll admit to switching sides purely out of self-interest.
I look at two things when I log on. One, who has the lowest numbers. I switch to the side with the lowest numbers before I even bother to lift. Second, I look for good fights. If I find I can't find any decent fights on the side with the lowest numbers (rare, but it does happen) I switch to the side with the second-lowest numbers as soon as my hour is up. It isn't at all abnormal for me to fly for two different teams the same night.
I can't say I do it for easy perks. I have so many I really don't need any more. I can't say I do it for low-cost perk planes either. Again, I have enough perks to fly any perk plane I want, any time I want, regardless of cost (my favorite is free, anyway). And I can't say I do it due to losing the ability to fly the plane I want, because I seldom see that (no doubt due to flying for the lowest-number team).
I also can't say I do it because I want to help any team in any way, because I don't. I couldn't care less what state the "war" is in, or who's winning or losing. I'm only playing to shoot the red guys down. No more, no less.
If I see any gain/advantage to switching as I do, it's simply that there are more targets to choose from, with far less of an issue finding multiple targets that I can have all to myself. I don't like sharing. Often as not, I'll break out of a fight if another friendly joins in, or fly right past a bad guy if I think a friendly will jump in before I can finish the fight.
So, yea, I switch because it suits my idea of fun, and it's all in my own interest. Nobody elses...
-

If evening the fight is self serving, then the 80th and some other squads are guilty as charged. I have to check each time I log on to see which country I'm on as I really don't pay attention to it beyond the numbers. I don't want to win the 'war' as there is no war. One airfield looks like the next to me. They are just a means to an end for me, which is to fight other cartoon airplanes.
If you wish to win the 'war', you go for it. I hope you like to do it by fighting other players, not just overwhelming hordes, or avoiding the fight and taking the path of least resistance.
The great prize an online flight sim provides is the chance to test our cartoon pilot abilities against other cartoon pilots. If just beating the game for points is what I wanted to do, I'd fly offline missions, dig out the old copy of EAW or Aces over Europe and have at it.
And no I don't fly perk rides or care about points. I do care about those fights that happen every so often where my imagination connects with the history I've read, and I feel like I've been there, if even in only a cartoon fighter pilot kinda way.

First off :salute Mtnman:
I understand why you guys switch and I have no problems with it at all. And I'm only asking this as a question and not assuming anything, but doesn't that get a little boring after a while also. And I mean this in a way like lets say for example: I'm thinking after playing for so long like some of you guys, you pretty much have mastered most aspects of virtual ACM and I like a good 1vs1 sometimes, but to just look for that would get a little dry IMO. Sometimes I like to just suit up, strap in, make sure the life insurance policy is paid up and dive into a fur ball and let the hair go with the hide and live it up and cut up and just have a good time with my friends that are on. And getting shot down or watching a friend turn into a little puff of smoke is part of the fun, and we all laugh about it and its no big deal. Sometime I like dropping bombs and sometimes I like shooting red guys with a tank or Wirb, sometimes I like being part of a horde and sometimes I like defending against the horde. So i guess what I'm getting at is wouldn't it be a little more fun with variety, as to just doing the same thing day in and day out with so many different aspects of the game available.
-
I have pondered about the "self-serving" aspect a bit:
In the end, no matter if we switch or stay loayal, it's almost for everyone at everytime for purely selfish reasons.
Fun.
Someone has more fun to place the fight above anything else, thus switching all the time. Someone is in for that special comradery he is feeling when fighting for "his" chesspiece day in and day out for years, enjoing the good times of arena domination as well as fighting his way through the bad days of getting horded.
In both cases, players do it for getting the most fun out of it.
Someone sticking to a side "just because", whoe doesn't really enjoy what he's doing, who is nothing but fed up with the "war" and his virtual countrymen, is doing something wrong. He hasn't understood the concept of playing a game opposed to living a real life.
Another aspect: Two days ago, I was dropping in to EW arena. I immediately looked at countrystatus & map and found 6(!) Bishops attacking a Rook base, Rooks had (!)player on that moment. SOAR was rolling bases again.
I was selfish enough to switch to rooks the very moment. But was that more selfish & self catering as memebers a of a squad always using their numbers to roll bases without any opposition. EW is always low on people, and when this squad is having their squad nights or something they outnumber both opposing countries together by a factor 2 to 5.
(Of course they say it's all about country loyalty)
-
EW is always low on people
Why we need the country change time limit to be reduced.
-

Posted for sheer shock value. A 2/10 for effort.
-
Meh, who cares if people switch sides - I tend to fly with my squaddies, or if they are not on, I fly to a fight and have fun.
Snaily, anytime I'm on, and we're on the same side, would be more than glad to wing with ya again.
Seriously guys, come on, who really gets hurt?
Wurzel
-
I always switch to the smallest side when I log in, so usually nits these days. I dont mind being horribly outnumbered, but I do hate having to compete for a single kill with the rest of the horde , especially when my kittyhawk/hurricane is lagging beind the pack!
Never been accused of cheatin tho...never been accused of anythin much apart from a pair of spits I ran into a year or so ago that accused me of ganging up on them by myself :huh

We don't only play for 1 vs 1s, although they are fun, but a great time can also be had by rolling with squaddies and clearing a sector... Not getting 15k alt and BnZ til everyone is dead but starting at 3k and just whooping some ass.

The thing is, in my case at least, those things you mention to "add variety" are the epitome of boring. I do things the way I do because having "been there/done that" this is really the only aspect of the game I still enjoy.
GV's- I've never had the slightest interest in them. I've tried to see what it is that draws people to them, and can't see it. On a good day I can get one to roll 20 feet before the boredom sets in. I generally don't even consider them part of the (my) game. I keep the ground detail turned down, and normally can't see them. If I get killed by one, it's the same as getting killed by auto-ack in my mind. I don't mentally credit it as a legitimate kill/death.
Whether in planes or GV's, destroying inanimate objects has zero appeal. That's somewhat of a shame, because beyond the F4U, the only WW2 planes to have a flicker of appeal to me are the B17 and B25. In order for me to have any interest at all in flying those two planes it needs to be against an animated target, which is where my only interest in GV's surfaces. Bombing GV's is amusing enough for maybe 1 B17 hop/year, and 2-3 B25 hops/week. And actually, the bombs in the B25 get left in the hanger in favor of the big cannon.
Furballs are great, as long as I'm on the lower-number side. It's just plain impossible for me to enjoy a fight if it's lopsided numbers-wise in my favor. Sharing a kill with another pilot is boring, every single time. If I'm in a "good" 1v1, and a friendly jumps in, I'll exit the fight if I can do it without dying. I have no interest in continuing. I'll exit, and let the friendly die, and re-merge. I'd rather die in a 1v1 than get "help".
It's different in multi vs multi fights. I love those. the teamwork aspect is awesome. But again, only if the numbers match up, or aren't in my favor. I love a good 2v1, or even a 3v1 sometimes, if I'm the "1". Similarly, 2v3 or 4 is awesome, unless my side has the higher number, in which case I fly away. A good fight doesn't need to be 1v1, it just can't be me and others against fewer numbers.
Base captures rely on having the numbers advantage for the most part, and in destroying inanimate objects. So I have zero interest. Even worse is when a "good" fight/furball is ruined by a capture. I don't mind at all if my base is captured, because that's the normal result of the fights I like! I hate it though when "my" side captures a field. When the fight shifts to "my" teams favor, it's about a guarantee I'm going to RTB to find a different fight.
My interest being what it is, I can understand the other guys side for the most part. I greatly enjoy the "base-capture" aspect of the game running in the background. It adds immense variety. The game would be nothing without it, and in order for it to be convincing people need to enjoy and be skilled at that aspect. Without it, we just have the DA. The only thing I really can't fathom anyone having an interest in is the ganging fights, where 4-20 guys are on one. I'd be embarrassed... I can see the new guys doing it, but how can that be in the least bit challenging/entertaining for a "vet"? Fortunately, the answer to the "gang" is readily available, in the F4U-4.
Seeing the importance of the "base-capture" aspect makes it easy for me to accept it, and even teach it. I just don't participate in it.
That pretty much leaves one aspect of the game for me, and I enjoy that aspect immensely. I like to fight, and the best way for me to do that is to switch sides freely. I don't give a "hoot" about the base-capture' aspect, so ignore it entirely in a strategic sense. I may know where the Rook CV is when I switch to Bish, or know about a planned mission, but to share that info when I switch sides would be detrimental to my own fun. So I don't share the info, and in cases of missions, I conveniently "forget" about it until it's over and done with.
Does playing the game my way get boring? Maybe, a little, sometimes. Not normally though. I read a book, or work on various projects while playing, and really only tune in for the fights. For me, fighting in the F4U simply is the game. If I got bored, I'd log.

I enjoyed reading this. :salute

I enjoyed reading that as well, but not all of it pertains to myself. I love the high alt buff run about once a day, and almost will never pass up a good vulch/pickfest. Always love a good, even fights, and is what I prefer. :aok

Give me the horde. Once more into the breach, dear friends!

Does anyone here honestly think Lusche actually gives a rats bellybutton about perk points? The man could probably fly exclusively 262 and auger instead of RTBing for days without even having to look to see if he has enough to up another one.

Your more than welsome to fly with the 71 sqd. on the Knights anytime you are on that side. We could careless where ya came from and your reputation as a fine flyer preceeds you. Just holler at us when ever your there and we'd be more than happy to wing up with you. You'll find squad vox pretty entertaining most of the time as well.

Coming from a guy on the bottom of the 71 sqd totem pole, I concurr and double the welcome. I've been with the squad since less than a month in-game and love it. Good bunch, and lots of fun to fly with. :aok
