Title: Me 262 Swallows
Post by: Fencer51 on July 03, 2009, 11:29:11 AM
First up White 19 from Kommando Nowotny Late September 1944.

Next up, Green 2 / Chevron / Bar of Geschswaderstab JG 7 April 1945.

Still figuring out / researching the weathering, wear and stains on both aircraft.  Likely White 19 will not get much dirtier and Green 2 might be so cammoed that dirty would not show on the upper side so its down to wear and tear.  Also not sure about the shadowing.. with the new version and all.  White 19 has it on, Green 2 does not.

Cheers

Heya Fencer,

Black4 that had the replacement nose section that was primered, but unpainted.  Also, Red13.  I had agreed to do those 2 additionals in the thread started by OakRanger.  Now, if anyone would like to do those, then by all means please do :)  The additional 262 I submitted as well as the T34/76s and T34/85s were done over 5 months ago and still arent in-game.  Im finding it hard to get motivated to create and submit more when all that previous work isnt even in the game yet.  I have sit down and started Red13 twice and still havent completed her.  No passion :(

ReDhAwK

Yeah I agree with you.  I took a break from skinning in September, mainly because of the delay in getting things in game.  It is a bummer to do all the work and have it set around or worse have a skin pack go out when something is almost done and know you are going to wait 4 to 6 months then.  Just got re-motivated a month or so ago, it is alot of work and tedious at times.  Also alot of the skins slots are filling up.

I was looking at Black 4, but since you are going to do it, I will do Yellow 5 of 9./KG(J) 6 and then Yellow 3 of 9./KG(J) 54 just to get some additional units and colors in game.

The 'razzle dazzle' paint on Green 2 is real beautiful, how hard was it to skin?

Thanks All.

Worst part was getting the Nacelles to line up as they fold in, then the moveable control surfaces were a real pain.  The upper spine and nose wasn't too bad.  Its offically a "Tortise" scheme.  I was waiting for one of the Luftwaffe 'Experts' to protest that this was usually only found on A2s...  ;)  Fortunately I got pictures actual pics of it with all 4 cannon installed.

I thought that "squiggle" camo was used primarily on night fighters and night bombers. Is it appropriate for AH's version of the 262?

One thing, though..............

Did you forget to lock-up the paint thinner in the cabinet again?  Sounds like someone has gotten into it and has been doing some sniffing .........

A simple "yes" would have sufficed. No need to be snippy.

Edit: And I read the initial page, skimmed the second, so I missed your comment.

I know you having watched you bounce around the forums spouting "facts" for the last few years.  That is why I was sure you would make that comment, and why I had scanned those in and was prepared.

Fencer, it would have and you know it. Hell, you want to rub it in a bit you can quote your original post (again, on page 2, where I skimmed, and admitted doing so).

Skins forum is the last place that kind of attitude is needed.

No skins show in the Beta for me.  Don't know if that is possible.

Pretty sure I've seen someone do it.. Was it Greebo?  Might have a special version that allows it.
If you mean any skins at all, you can just copy the skins from the regular AHII directory.  Seems they weren't enabled for auto download to help keep the beta simple.  Maybe you have to build them into .res files or into a terrain file to see them offline though?  I don't remember how it works.

You have to have the most recent version of the beta.

You do it the same way... make sure they're 8 bit bitmaps, the current version of the game is a bit more lenient but the beta is not. You may also want to force on a little bit of extra antialiasing.

All three submitted.

Now remember the rules... no shooting at Red Nosed P-51Ds with invasion stripes.  Don't make me hit the "secret skinners emergency range detonation" button.

IMO the best part of skinning is shooting down or getting shot down by people flying in your skins.

It was a joke, but I think you know that.

I concur.  I have let people go who are flying one of my skins if they are shot up or otherwise at a bad disadvantage.  I appreciate everyone who uses one of my skins or any "non-default" skin.  Work is put into these and I hate to see them sitting in the hangar.  That is one of the arguments I have put forth for skin rotation.  I know that there are a large number of skins of certain types which just do not get flown.

Rather than rotation I would prefer they just expand the number of skins to choose from.

BTW, I submitted "White 22" of JV44 last week or the week before.  It had been sitting on my HD along with a couple Russian P-39Ds for quite some time.  One of you Fin types asked me to do it last fall and I did earlier this year.

Cheers.
