Hey Gang. Just D/L AH. Been in "Fighter Ace" for years. Using CH pedals/Saitek X52. Both show up in "Control Panel. Both are recognized in AH clipboard and respond to movements. In the game, only the rudder pedal work. No brakes: Ailerons, elevator or throttle. Note : havent mapped out any other commands yet, just wanted to get the feel of the aircraft. Always seems to be bugs before tweaking out new Sims.
Thanks
Denis

try here, this was started a few days ago, maybe it will help. And welcome to Aces High.

Not sure that will apply: I have Windows XP pro; Just D/l AH two days ago, should be all new patches: it did NOT load to :program Files" went right to "C" drive to the "HiTech" file.
Should I download again ( kinda like the old "hit it with a hammer" routine. ) I'm in no big rush, this always happens, just gotta get all the right buttons pushed

Have you mapped the ailerons, elevator and throttle? Asking, as when I got my CH Stick, I had to do them all from scratch, as the settings it chose for itself were all over the shop.

Welcome to AH knucklebutt glad to see you make the change FA is a carton game compaired to AH. Just take your time for this game does take time to learn not like FA. There are lots of good pilots in here that will help you out just ask. Go to the training arena for starters there is usually a trainer in their that can answer any questions. Here are some things to help:http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/ (http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/) andhttp://www.netaces.org/ (http://www.netaces.org/). You can find the answer to many question in these links, or search the forums.

The easiest method to get the default stick set is to go to Options->Controls->Map Controllers. Select the joystick from the drop down list at the top, and press the "Default Map" button.
I am assuming you have also calibrated the stick in the game (under Options->Controls).

Wurzel: Yes I did map from scratch: and tey do show as working on the clipboard: just not on the Aircraft itself ?
kinda wierd ?

I started with this: I printed it out prior to even starting to map out my joystick

Skuzzy:
I did calibrate in game: also used the "Default" option on the drop down for the X52. Shows its o.k. in the "clipboard" just not in the game.
I'm gonna keep messing around, as I'm sure its something simple (usually is )

Make sure you selected "Mode 1" for your stick mappings in aircraft. If I remember, mode1 is default for aircraft and mode2 is default for ground vehicles. Once you spawn, you should see a message in the text buffer to indicate which control mode is selected.

welcome to aces high denis ..sure you will like it here. i also came over from fighter ace and never looked back. just wondering what was your call sign in FA and squad if you were in 1. i was with the demon dogs and hiredguns :salute

AHHH Deamon dogs remember them well: I was in "Black Rose Squadron" for about 3 years BRS-Knuckles. Enjoyed FA much. Been gone about 2 years, started to get back in and decided I really would enjoy something more realistic, looks like this might be it

I actually have stayed in "Mode 1" haven't had the opportunity to go to "Mode 2" yet and yes ! I did verify I was in "Mode 1" thanks

In the "Map Controllers" panel, make sure to select "Mode 1" and do not check the option to automatically switch modes. If you do and do not have "Mode 2" mapped, vehicles will not work.
That said.
There are two columns in the "Map Controllers" panel which show the input name from the joystick (provided by the joystick) and the command associated with that input.
Under the first column, each axis will also have a set of numbers in parantheses. All these axises have a range from 0 to 65535. Check each one by moving the stick to its extremes for each axis. If the numbers appear to be normal. Make sure there is a command directly across the row from the input.
Pressing "Default Map" should have caused the game to fill in the things it knows about with some standard commands, such as the X and Y axis. Once that is done, the only thin that would prevent the axises from working is if the stick is not calibrated in Windows and the game.
Hope that helps.

Skuzzy: O.K. this is getting even more "wierd"
I re- downloaded AH.
Options: controllers: map controllers
both Saitek and CH pedals are present
X52 "y" mapped to analog elevator = the numbers move when stick is moved
X52 "X" mapped to analog Aileron = numbers move
X52 "Z" rotation not used and mapped and "None" I use rudder pedals
X52 "z" axis mapped as RPM 1 numbers move as throttle move
CH Pedals "Z" axis mapped to Yaw (rudder) numbers move
CH Pedals "y" axis mapped to Brake Right Numbers move
CH Pedals "x" Axis mapped to Brake Left numbers move
Default is not checked
Now !!!!!!!! what I get is :::::::: my ailerons move as do my Elevators Now ! the Rudder will not move
Note : I dont think the brakes ever did work
Also Note engine starts automaticaly: however moving the throttle on the X52 does nothing untill (get this)
I hit (shift +) about twich to increase RPM then my X52 throttle kicks in
So thats today: and Skuzzy I'm sure you are bored and have nothing to do today: probably why God created me ????
Thanks again

Am I reading this wrong or are these settings completely wrong???
I would think he would want Z axis mapped to elevator just for a start

Am I reading this wrong
This
Y is forward backward motion of the stick, x is left right tilt, and z is left right rotation- unless you like twist your stick for elevators he's got everything right.

The "Z" (Throttle) you want set as 'throttle 1' not RPM 1. RPM can be adjusted using the +/- on the Keypad. The RPM will move with the Throttle (50% throttle = 50% RPM) but 50% RPM does not = 50% throttle. This is due to being able to adjust RPM separate of Throttle, but not vice versa.
Think of it this way: A Car Gas pedal; The 'Throttle' is the Pedal, you can get the car to go as fast as it can by pressing that pedal down hard, now imagine a little knob on say the dashboard (RPM), that when cranked down will not allow you to reach the same speeds as before even though the pedal is pressed down, why? Because you limited the Engine to that amount of RPM max, if you crank that back up you can get right back up to that top speed. So while you want those RPMs high for speed you need that Pedal down. :)
As for the Rudder troubles, I'm not sure, I don't use a CH set. Just make sure when you press the left or right Pedal they are the same Axis since AH doesn't support separate Axis Rudders.
Hope it helps. :)
-
I'll look through my settings for my CH pedals when I get home, in the meantime if you move the pedals back and forth (not the toe brakes) you should see the axis number move. Just set the rudder to that axis once you have isolated which one it is.

i just put 2 and 2 together! Hey FG_Lazydog!! man i'm slow sometimes.
I've helped quite a few guys re-map their functions and it has been straight forward and painless but what Denis is experiencing sounds odd. hang in there and you will get it sorted.
-
Once commands are mapped to the stick, the corresponding keybaord commands will no longer function.
By the way, did you happen to load both the stick managers from CH and Saitek? That could be a problem.
Also note, are you absolutely sure you calibrated the CH pedals? You can calibrate each axis using the "Calibrate Axis" button in the "Map Controllers" panel. Try it with the rudder.
-
CH stuff doesn't need the control manager software unless you want different profiles set.
I have stick throttle and pedals all working fine. done in game.
-
You do not need any type of stick software loaded to make use of any USB connected stick, in Aces High.

O.K. Gang a new day and I'm chipping away at all this;
Thanks to 1701E my throttle now works. I had it assigned to "RPM1" not throttle 1.
The X 52 now works: BUT !!! (always a but!) the CH pedals are not: Now remember when I first started this thread: The CH pedals worked but the X52 did not. now its switched.
again clipboard show all is working (per the numbers) and check my last post you can see where I have assigned everything: O.K I'm ready ! whats next
Thanks
Denis

ok so the ch pedals appear in the drop down list of devices. you have clicked on it and checked the advanced box,
when you push on the pedals the advanced box moves with the rudder set to (yaw) rudder?
you have calibrated the pedals?
now the only other thing i can think of is that you have assigned the x52 to a different control mode. all bits of kit need to be assigned to control mode 1 or whichever mode you wish to use for planes
-
Uh, the plane throttle is "Throttle 1". "RPM 1" is not throttle.

Bruv: O.K. I think you get the prize: !!!
in the advance box for the Rudder as well as brakes, in my quest to try everything to fix this I had "scaling" as well as "invert" checked on all three axis: for some reason this disabled them to work: after unchecking scaling and invert: they all appear in the game.
Now I went back and checked "scaling" for the rudder (which is an option I want and it still works fine !
So on to practice so you guys will have someone to shoot at soon: Thanks to all who contributed:
AND for any one who reads this thread: I had all bugs fixed within 24 hours of my first post: that is usually how this works: no need to get fizzed up and declare you are being ripped off for 14 bucks.
so there !!

glad you got it sorted!
in reality once you know how the whole stick mapping works it is easy, probably more simpler than FA's.
Learning curve is pretty steep without padlock so make sure you get your views setup properly. You can move around the cockpit with your arrow keys. Page up is useful and hitting F10 will save the head position. You can adapt every single view and then save it.
shift + F1 will enable full vis mode.
The game has hidden depths as you go. It will take a few months to learn WTF is going in the MA. I took it as a fresh challenge and with an open mind. Eventually when you feel comfortable fighting you will appreciate everything else that the game offers.
Good luck!
cya up

hi,
here same system x52pro plus ch throttle plus ch rudder and xp OS. all work well. on x25 y axes corresponds to pitch not to elevator control. if u assign elevator control to y axes then u are not able to see any effect in game expecially when u have combat trim on. elevator control is a fine trim control on pitch control.
y as pitch control (not elevator trim)
x as roll control (not aileron trim)
z as yaw control (not rudder trim)
etc.
salute!
