No, it gets better.
It's a travesty there was only one season.

There wasn't even one season, got cancelled mid way.

Yes. :)
It's a shame they canceled it. We've got the season set, and have watched it through several times.

Yes but if you own the DVD series like me, theres 4 more episodes that never made TV :D
-
Its a good show. Shame it was canceled, as it was just hitting its stride. I can understand it, kind of, because the show's creators pushed a lot of boundaries that Fox doesn't like to push (except in its cartoons). They should have just moved the show to FX instead of canning it. But Fox screws this kind of thing up all the time.
Oh yeah, you might notice my sig.

Just to make sure I do have all of em.... :) ......what happens in those last 4 episodes?

First season of Battle Star Gallactica was pretty good also. Just cant same the same for the last few season whew.

One little thing I want to know though. The reavers: you know how they put skeletons on the outsides of their ships? How do they reasonably do that? I mean, when you look at those, they're just bones, fully rotted, no 'meat' on them, etc. So what's holding the bones together? I supposed it's meant to be a scary thing... just doesn't make sense how they do it.

Bought the series on Blu-Ray. The best disc set that I own!

Its been a while so I dont remember which were the deleted 4, but one of them was when a bounty hunter boards Serenity in search of River, and she REALLY screws with his head and everyone else on the ship.

That's one of the best episodes.

These were both a good series and a movie, but they featured a really creepy chick named River Tam:

Read my post more carefully and it will make sense.

Um, 14 sounds about right, but I dont have the box set in front of me to confirm. If they have an episode with a black guy as a bounty hunter, then yes, thats all.

You are hooked, ain't ya? :)
Buy the season set. :) I think it's got more unaired episodes. And the feature length movie is called Serenity.
-
I love the whole thing. My last girlfriebd was almost orgasmic over it. I showed her one of the collectables and she SCREAMED.
I've got the boxed set (14 episodes), the collector's edition movie, the travel posters for the various planets, a poster with visuals of each planet in the 'Verse, replica money from the movie, two of the t-shirts, and the extremely detailed book of blueprints of the ship.
-
ew. 15 years old using 'orgasmic' makes me want to hurl oatmeal chunks.
-
I loved Firefly. It was cool how the series setup for the movie.
-
I really like the movie, Serenity. Easily in my top-five sci-fi movies. As for Firefly, meh. I didn't care for the campy space western schtick.

Excuse me? :huh I'm turning 19 in a few days, she was on the latter edge of 17...

Rofl... the only time I saw someone wearing a Serenity shirt, that was ALL she was wearing!

Okay...

Okay...
Sorry, spiked a memory there. It seems there is a connection with women and Serenity t-shirts...

Not very politically correct and "educational" either. The captain had no problem to shoot a guy dead when he had not time for negotiations, or kick a captive that was threatening "I will hunt you down bla bla bla" into the ship's engine. The "correct" way to do this in Holywood is to let the guy go, wait till he surprisingly reach for his gun and then kill him. It was also quite sexually permissive: The mechanic chick was recruited after screwing the previous mechanic on the engine. Their "companion" is a 1000 dollars a night geisha potato.

Yes, but you must admit, Kaylee was HOT!

Objects in Space, great episode, great new character (Jubal Early).
Simon: Are you Alliance?
Jubal Early: Am I a lion?
Simon: What?
Jubal Early: I don't think of myself as a lion. You might as well though, I have a mighty roar.
Simon: I said "Alliance."
Jubal Early: Oh, I thought...
Simon: No, I was...
Jubal Early: That's weird.
-
Indeed. Objects in Space was my favorite episode.

+1
I liked Firefly.. Pretty good show and too bad it got cancelled, but Battlestar Galactica was way better IMO in terms of scifi shows.. :rock

I can't make myself watch BSG...I dunno why, really, just something about it irks me.

:rofl I got rule 14 for my post..........
.
-
Yep... Going a little too far with that rule, I think.
-
Well I'm 2 months late to the party...but not skuzzifyable quite yet I don't think. (Somehow I doubt this will stop the cool kids who say IN though)
Just borrowed the DVD set from a colleague in the office. (it helps to work with a lot of people roughly the same age as you...) My friends who are for the most part sci fi nerds like myself all raved about this show for a long time, but I figured I'd wait until I could get a box set somewhere. Anyway... Popped in episode 1 at 6:30 PM when I got home, stopped after episode 7 at 1 AM. This show doesn't suck.
I'm not sure why so many people compare it to BSG, which I have seen in its entirety. Sure, both are character-driven sci fi shows. However from what I have seen so far of Firefly, it is done in a different tone entirely. We are not talking about the end of the human race here folks, we're talking about smugglers parading about the galaxy all Han Solo vs the Empire esque. Good guy with a funny companion + chip on the shoulder wants to make some coin and piss off the suits. BSG's humor was generally put in just to keep things from being morbidly depressing, whereas Firefly resembles the OLD BSG in the light-hearted nature of the approach. I guess the main similarity I can draw so far is that both shows try to tackle "bigger" issues regularly, and both do so with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. Hey, at least they are trying.
Anyway, I'll take a more detailed look at both after I finish Firefly, but for now I am really enjoying it. If you haven't seen the show yet and are even mildly interested in Sci Fi, (or westerns) check it out.

It's really entertaining to watch the commentary done by Joss. I'm not sure if there's one on the Firefly DVDs, but the one on the Serenity Collector's Edition is certainly worth it. I find it funny that the only reason it's so Western-ish in most cases is because that's the cheapest kind of background to set up. :p All you need is a desert, a couple horses, and some leather.
