Title: Invisible CVs
Post by: Chalenge on August 22, 2009, 01:48:06 PM
It would be nice and might help CVs live longer if someone in command of a CV had an option to make the fleet invisible  (on the map) to everyone of less rank then them (also disabling the move and goto commands by the same option). That way once a mission is ready to proceed the option is deselected and everyone can up as they wish.

Just a thought.

Another "It's my cv, you can't use it" thread?

Any other suggestions about where I can or cannot fly from Admiral General?

Fleets should make a base flash anyway.  Or make the "the waypoint is touching land" much further out.

Sorry just trying to find a solution to the dweebs (does that include you?) upping before the SBs and Ords are down. The presence of one CV plane is all it takes to generate wave after wave of B25 dweebs strafing guns down.

Come to think of it that might include you.  :D

Ideally the ordnance is already dead by the time the CV gets within 25 miles.

The El Capitans that think driving the CV within spitting distance and then kill ordnance are the real problem. I find it absolute hilarious that people drive CV so close and then have to climb out to sea. Wouldn't it make more sense to have it farther out and climb towards the base, keeping out of SB range?

Common sense is just too much to ask tho....

Hey!  I resemble that remark!

+1 to both.

You would think someone would notice the 8in guns pummeling the town and/or field.

Like using the same logic used to explain a dar bar.

"Someone saw a plane flying over"

How about instead of cvs flashing a base, give them their own "dar bar."

Try hiding your cv now.

So wait, I wouldn't be able to see my CV because I don't bomb and strafe down strats in bomber and attack modes, spawn camp and toolshed bases in GV mode, and fly tempests to vulchfests in fighter mode?

Oh and.. five...niner(59)

 :huh

Let me get this straight???    You want the CV to be invisible for anyone with a lower rank than the person controlling it????

So lets say a player with a rank of 200 takes the CV, it is supposed to disappear to everyone except for those ranking 1-199?   <insert Bill Lumberg voice>  "Yeah, that would just be great.  UmmmKay"

So, once you have accomplished your invisible CV, how exactly did you want for people to be able to join it so you can run your mission/take the base?  Kinda hard to go to a base you can't see to click.  Certainly even harder to up if you can't see the deck.

Now see... everyone of you jumped in and replied as if you want CVs easily killed and their positions given away and the only consequence of that is sunk CVs. Yet all of you also prefer to think of yourselves as primarily furballers yet the best fight there is in the arenas is CV versus airfield. So either you fear the good fight or your just hypocrites without exception.

Have a nice day.

Or, we don't have to be parked on the beach to use a cv.

The consequence of the CV being sunk is a direct result of how it is used.

Nope, we don't want invisible CV's controlled by score potatoes like yourself.  That is all.

2nd

The entire point of this thread from what I can tell is that your trying to level an airfield from a CV without anyone knowing, but your angry when someone ups to actually start a fight before you've porked everything and the airfield can't actually protect itself.

Well, I choose to up from a CV as I am unable to hit a shore battery with any sort of guns to save my life. Is that so evil? I choose to drop bombs on it with a B5N. Is that so evil? Sometimes, I try to take the CV away from a base so it can get away from all the B-25s and heal, rather than waiting for the CV to die, then sail ALLLL the way across the map again to make another furball. Is that so evil? Besides, if the CV was invisible to people with a rank higher than yours, how would you get people to help make a nice furball?

Enker: Your lack of understanding is astounding... no it rises to an even higher level. Hitech needs to create another award to go along with the Krusty... maybe he will call it the Enker who knows.

Now go back and read the 'stupid suggestion' again until you see where this is mentioned. When I said invisible I meant not shown on the clipboard not invisible when your right on top of it. The same option to make it unseen on the clipboard would have the reverse effect.

Grizz: As I said before I went for rank ONCE. Every other tour it was just what happens playing the game. Now that I have learned exactly how to score the highest in every category I dont need to work hard at it at all (unlike the noobs that are going for it). You only play part of the game so you dont get the rank. The one part of the game that you like (furballing) I suggested could be improved upon by this one change. You lack the imagination to see how this could happen but just the same your responses in trying to keep CVs easy to sink (and CVs are the best furball in AH) makes you a hypocrite.

Your $15 play it like you want and if only part of the game is fun for you thats fine but dont whine about it when people play the parts you dont or risk looking juvenile on top of being a hypocrite.

Cool. Often having highest rank on my side, I now can not only lock the course, but now even effectively hide the CV from my countrymen and go afk... And noboy knows where C21 even is while I'm gone shopping. That way the enemy will have an even EASIER time to sink the CV  :D

At least have the Home shopping network turned on in the crew compartments so we can see what your buying.

I understood that it was to be invisible on the clipboard. Besides, if we are unable to find the base to up from, how will we get into the guns and take out the ordinance at a base?
Would this option be available to the fleet commander, or, as you say in the first post, is this option intended to be used only for missions?

That is a big NO. There are some guys on bish that would love this idea though. Mainly the jj's that hide cvs off the map so they can't be used or sank if our ports get captured. They continually move them so even bish can't use them which totally defeats the point of having cvs anyway.
