Playing Pop Warner football and having a blast reliving those Star Wars movie moments as a kid that was 9 at the time. I had just switched schools due to a Federal mandate that said my parents had to live in the city limits in order for me to go to public school...no county school system at that time...unless my parents wanted me to ride a bus for 4 hours a day. Any my little sister had just been born. Also it was the year when I killed my first deer.

Not yet among the living. That being said, I know that I was very much in planning at the time, because my parents were methodical almost to a fault. There is almost exactly 4 years separation between the three siblings in my family...conveniently how long most bachelor degrees take. Efficiency at it's finest :lol

Strangely enough, that applies to my two cousins, myself, and my nephew.
That and just about ever male on my mother's side and my father are named John. So, it's my middle name.

Same with my Dad and his siblings. Him and his brother are four years and one day apart (March 7, 1951 and March 8, 1955).
Grandpa used to joke he only ever got any once every four years, whether he wanted it or not.

Grade 1... But still in tune with what was going on in the world.. I remember the Iran Hostage crisis being seen on the news nightly..
I remember all the hoopla going on about the first shuttle launch taking place the following year..
Atari 2600.. Empire Strikes Back.. My parents making us wear stupid looking Brady Bunch pants, for which we were continually ragged on by
our peers.. I don't think I even owned a pair of jeans until grade 4 or 5.. Parents thought you should dress respectably when attending school....
Nowadays, it isn't uncommon for grade schools in public school systems to have a uniform requirement..

Boilermakers Helper in SLC UT.
That was the winter I had to crawl in to a hot boiler to roll a tube by hand, They couldn't cool it down as it was that last one working in that building that winter. For those interested it was a four pass Scots Marine, and I crawled in the manhole at the rear while the rest of the crew hosed me down with a fire hose, from the opened burner end.....
