Title: GV throttle
Post by: Clone155 on November 01, 2009, 08:36:01 PM
I wish that the GV throttle would be the same as airplane throttle, so you don't have to keep pulling back on the stick to slow down.

Um... shift down?

and maybe a Red Orchestra style control of the turret in the commander position?

+100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000, make the throttle and gears useable in gunner mode. Then I might bother GVing.

Stay focused, don't hijack.

Not hijacking, just suggesting things to go along with it. notice I said "and".

I know you can shift down... I'm talking about when I am in a 251 following a wirble, I have to keep pulling back on the stick to stay with him, or keep shifting up and down.

Then don't keep shifting into high gear. leave it at one you can follow him, and then follow him.

Or in other words, there is no set gear that goes the speed of a wirblewind. I can go 2nd gear, going slower, or 3rd gear going faster. I wish that I can just use my throttle

I have a Z axis on my controller, if you have one, or something like it, you can set that in place of you stick for Y axis.

well only thing that is realistic about gv's is having to actually shift/downshift to move.  U take that away and u have an automatic transmission on a tank that can hit targets at 5k yards, which was highly unlikely in ww2.

IMO, No, shifting is part of GVing, this is just another attempt to make GVing simpler and simpler.

Oh good god people, think of the throttle as a gas pedal. You stamp on it, you go fast, you slightly release pressure, you go a little bit slower. Does it make sense now?

The OP wants the throttle to act similarly to a gas pedal, instead of having to press the joystick forward/backward.

*edit.
removed a portion that you some pansies might find "offensive".

A GV '.speed ##' command would do just fine.

Fine, just allow it within the gear shift

Yes it is kind of like a gas pedal, but if you don't touch the stick when moving then it is like a lead brick on the pedal.

I didn't think I could do that, I will try it.

+1 cant see any good reason for gvs to work differently to aircraft, plus its unecessary wear n tear on the stick. doesnt the PT boat already work this way?

Z-axis is rudders or twisty which is currently used for steering in gun positions (should be in driver position too imo), hardly a natural for throttle control. presumably you'll then remap steering to your throttle?

He's probably referring to the Z-slider on the X52, which is a sliding bar on the throttle quadrant.

You can actually map the up-down axis (X?) to the throttle in Mode 2, then set it to automatically slevet mode on takeoff. I think it may work like the stick, though; middle is "centered" instead of back all the way.

No ozz, its a little wheele on my attack 3. It functions the same way though. Yeah clone, it works. I kept slowing down by accidently moving it. Finally got so annoying I unmaped that one. But your intending you use it like a throttle so you shouldn't have that problem.

How is that a tribute to my life? Total there were 6 sections of video and maybe 25 seconds that could even POSSIBLY be a tribute to my life.
