Title: November FSO "Too Little, Too Late" final score
Post by: Baumer on November 24, 2009, 04:58:38 PM
Below is a breakdown of the scoring over the past three frames.

I want to salute all the 708 players who flew in this FSO and I appreciate all the feedback good or bad. FSO is a big undertaking and it's great to see new CiC's perform well and be so involved, like a lot of things in life, the more you put into it, the more you get from it.

so without further adu,

Frame 1
Ground

Air

Point Totals for Frame 1; Allied 32,827 (52%), Axis 29,983 (48%)

Frame 2
Ground

Air

Point Totals for Frame 2; Allied 21,336 (40%), Axis 32,073 (60%)

Frame 3
Ground

Air

Point Totals for Frame 3; Allied 28,203 (52%), Axis 26,228 (48%)

Setting each frame equal the score is as follows;

Frame 1-

Frame 2-

Frame 3-

And that gives a narrow win to the Axis side.

Interesting to see the axis win through bombing with the B5N. :)

Interesting to see the axis win through bombing with the B5N. :)

I think a lot of that has to do with they type of ordinance (250kg bombs) the B5N's were carrying as opposed to the 100lb bombs the B17's were using.  Also... in the case of the missions we flew, we used the B5N's as dive bombers, which greatly increased accuracy and the ability to hit more than one target on a pass... where as the 17's were limited to level bombing with the manually calibrated bombsights, which some have difficulty using.  Adding to that difficultly, the only place to practice with the manual sight, is the AvA... as the sights in all other areas are the automatic ones.

In frame 2 we were assigned to base defense, and noticed that of the B-17's that did manage to get through, very few hit anywhere near their targets.

You can set up the manual bombsite offline.  That's where I practiced and used it successfully in the B5N.

In frame 2, the 332nd mongrels level bombed with the B5N with great success. We had great escort which made it easier, we had time to calibrate.

DOH! I didnt think of that.  Oh well, its a great dive bomber as well, even without dive brakes. :)
